Chapter 1170
"What do you think?" Hannah sighed, asking angrily.
Ralph blinked several times, then burst into laughter. "You're Annie! You're my Annie! My Annie, who never curses or beats anyone! Oh, my beloved Annie! Hehehe..." His smirking face was flushed, his eyes unfocused, his smile goofy. Hannah, however, was overjoyed. Even drunk, he recognized her, distinguishing her from Heather. He was the only one who knew and cared. "Enough with that silly smile!"
She cupped his face, gazing into his eyes. "Let me ask you," she said earnestly, "do you like Heather Riggs or Hannah Riggs?" She'd always wondered if he genuinely liked her, or if it was merely because she resembled Heather. This was crucial to her.
The intoxicated Ralph felt a little dizzy. He blinked, considered for a moment, then slapped her hand away. "Heather Riggs!"
Hannah was stunned. Just as her temper flared, he hiccuped loudly. "That bitch! What's to like about her? She's fierce, domineering, brutal, and selfish! I like my Annie better! Hehehe. My Annie's the best!" He leaned forward, resting his head on her shoulder, smiling.
Hannah's anger vanished instantly. Unsure whether to laugh or cry, she shook her head. "You're wheezing. You should fix that."
"Annie, you're the only one who treats me well. You know... my mother is cruel! She won't give me anything, she's taking everything! She wants to disown me! Ahhh..." Ralph sobbed, overflowing with grievances, anger, and fear. Finally, he'd found someone to confide in, weeping like a child in her arms. "Annie, you're the only person I have! Don't leave me! Please don't abandon me!"
Hannah felt conflicted, torn between pity and the satisfaction of being needed. For as long as she could remember, she'd been unwanted and unloved, disposable, alone. No friends, classmates, or family. No one liked, needed, or cared for her.
Now, this six-foot man held her tightly, unwilling to let go. He needed her, and that fulfilled her. She gently rubbed his head. "Okay," she said warmly, "I won't leave you. I won't let you go."
Noticing the mess, she stood to clean up, but he held her down. "You agreed not to leave me! Why are you lying?"
"I'm not. I just want to help you cleanโ"
Before she finished, Ralph pressed her to the ground. "Don't lie! Don't leave me!"
