Chapter 114
It's fantastic to be rich! The rich certainly receive preferential treatment. Frank, ever the gentleman, sent Melanie to her room first, as it was on a lower floor. She frowned upon entering.
The room was a standard, large bedroomโspacious compared to ordinary hotel rooms. However, it was simply a room with an en-suite bathroom, microwave, small refrigerator, and sink. It had everything, yet fell far short of Melanie's expectations.
"Mel, all your things are here. Have a good rest. I'll go to my room first!" Frank patted her shoulder, smiling.
Melanie quickly stopped him. "Wait a minute!"
"Yes?" He paused, glanced back silently, and asked.
After a moment's hesitation, she said, "Well, I'm not too tired, and you have luggage. Could I come to your room and relax for a while?"
Frank simply stared, his meaningful gaze making her uncomfortable. She blushed, avoiding his eyes.
"Of course!" he finally said.
Melanie followed him uneasily to the elevator. As the floor numbers ascended, her heart pounded. She knew it was wrong, but she couldn't help herself; she wanted to see the top floor.
The elevator dinged. The doors opened, but Frank didn't move. "Mel?"
Snapping back to reality, Melanie forced a smile. "We're here?"
Frank smiled and stepped out; she hurried after him.
This floor was different, with fewer rooms. Frank found their room number, swiped his card, and opened the door. Melanie entered. As he stepped aside, she gasped.
Her eyes widened. What a view!
Large floor-to-ceiling windows showcased half the city's picturesque landscape. Below lay green trees and a blue sea; above, the sky seemed to meet heaven. The breathtaking vista was endless.
It was paradise! Entering slowly, she saw that it was a huge suite; the area she'd entered was just the living room.
This living room, with its plush leather sofas, water purifier, wine storage, and coffee maker, was larger than her entire room. It was opulent beyond imagining. Speechless, her eyes darted around, unable to take it all in. She wanted to explore further but felt it improper.
"Aren't you going to look around?" Frank asked. Melanie paused, shook her head, and clenched her fists. "Never mind. I just wanted a quick look. I'll go now!" Though she said this, she hesitated to leave, her heart heavy as she compared this splendor to her cramped little room. She felt breathless. Standing by the floor-to-ceiling windows, gazing into the distance and pretending to possess this view, she felt his arms wrap around her waist, gently pressing her shoulders down. Frank stood behind her, hugging her.
