Chapter 1111

Alexander shook his head. He didn't understand Margaret's sudden visit; he hadn't even met her. After a moment's thought, he asked, "You said she asked you to attend the family meeting Saturday before she left?"

Lily nodded. "That's what she said. She didn't make it mandatory, just mentioned she'd be happy if I went. Is something wrong with the family meeting?"

"Did you sense something amiss? Don't worry. It's been years; they've played all their cards." He smiled, affectionately scratching her nose.

"You said your uncle's stolen secret handbook is a fake. Why didn't he confront you if he knew?"

"Because he stole it. Confronting me would be an admission of guilt. Right now, the person he hates most is probably Heather."

After all, Heather had used him. From Ralph's perspective, she'd taken the real handbook and abandoned him. That woman was undeniably scheming.

Lily considered this, then asked, "Should I go on Saturday?"

"What do you think? It's fine either way." Alexander could protect her. He simply preferred she didn't witness the ugly scramble for wealth and power. "Let's see how I feel then," she replied with a shrug and a smile.

Her sweet smile banished his fatigue. Leaning close, he asked, "And what's Mrs. Russell's mood like? Interested in dinner?"

"I'm notโ€”" He silenced her unspoken refusal with a kiss.

The Russell family's affairs were tangled and potentially risky, but as long as she was with him, everything would be alright.

Hannah arrived at the company in the family car. Her familiarity with the work allowed her to handle everything swiftly. Initially, she'd occasionally filled in for Heather. Spending time in the basement reading news, articles, and books, she'd gradually mastered the business. Now, she could confidently manage Riggs Group, believing she could surpass her sister. After all, Heatherโ€™s focus had been martial arts; business had been a reluctant pursuit.

After Hannah reviewed the documents, Chloe brought her coffee. The rich aroma invigorated her.

"Miss Riggs," Chloe paused, "Mr. Russell called. He wants you to return his call when you're free."

Hannah rubbed her temples. "Mr. Russell?"

Chloe, fearing a misunderstanding, clarified, "Mr. Ralph Russell. He called the office number for some reason."

Logically, they should have contacted each other directly. The company was unaware of Ralph and Heather's impending breakup, so they still considered him her fiancรฉ. Therefore, they wouldn't dare offend him. Chloe reported it despite her reservations.
