Chapter 1108
"I never realized you had such a skill," Heather said, finishing half her tea. She felt considerably better.
"I was confused before, but after your scolding that day, I've seen things clearly. I'll take good care of you and help you from now onโhelping you helps me." Heather nodded in satisfaction. "I'm going back to my room to rest. Have the driver take you to the company."
"Okay! Rest well, Heather. Take care of yourself." Hannah watched Heather leave, then discarded her smile and teacup, dusting her hands. She walked to the closet to choose a suitable dress for her outing.
Margaret's visit surprised Lily. She hadn't expected Margaret to return after their last encounter. Lily had been prepared then, understanding the reason for Margaret's visit. This time, however, there was no warning.
Was Ralph attempting the same trick again, now that the fake handbook was discovered? He should know he'd been ensnared if he knew it was a fake. How could the same strategy possibly work twice? Lily almost thought she'd misheard the servant's announcement. From her balcony, she could see the Russell family car.
"Is Margaret alone, or is someone else with her?" Could Ralph have accompanied Margaret, intending a direct confrontation?
"No, only Madam Russell."
"Tell the porter to open the door, welcome her, and have her wait downstairs. I'll change," Lily instructed. After considering, she decided to call Alexander. She remained apprehensive about Margaret after the previous incident and chose to inform him of his grandmother's arrival.
"Is she alone?" Alexander asked, as expected.
"Yes. Do you think it will be like last time, with that uncle of yours lurking behind her?"
Alexander scoffed. "No, he wouldn't use the same tactic twice, no matter how foolish he is. Besides, they failed last time; there's no reason to repeat it."
"If so..."
"Handle it first. I don't know what Grandma's up to either. If she's rude, you don't have to be polite," he stated firmly.
Alexander felt no obligation to be subservient simply because Margaret was his elder. Filial piety was expected if she treated them kindly; however, he wouldn't back down if she was deliberately difficult.
He felt a kinship with Margaret through his grandfather; they were family, after all. However, Lily was his wife, and she shouldn't endure any hardship because of it.
Lily knew Alexander always had her back. She smiled softly. "You make me sound like a barbarian. Besides, Grandma gave me a gift last time. Maybe she's reconsidered her opinion of you. I'll keep an eye on things. Don't worry."
