"I..." Ralph hesitated, his thoughts tumbling. Could she have changed her mind because his terms were unsatisfactory? That seemed impossible. She'd searched for this handbook for years. How could she suddenly lose interest?

He pressed, "Then... what do you mean?"

"I mean I don't want it anymore! I don't want the book!" Heather's resolve was firm, leaving no room for negotiation.

"Cut the charade," Ralph countered. "I know you still want it. You want to renegotiate, don't you? Fine. Let's talk. We can reach a mutually agreeable conclusion. You don't need to reject me outright because you didn't like my initial offer. There's no need to overreact."

He wouldn't dare use force against Heather; she was too formidable. But her behavior baffled him.

As he pressed her, she looked at him, her dark gaze inscrutable.

"Well then... how about 45% of the shares instead of 50%?" Ralph probed. Her continued silence sent a shiver down his spine. The room fell silent for a moment before he tried again, "40%?"

Still nothing. Heather remained unyielding.

"Look at this! The secret handbook you've been dreaming of!" He produced his phone, displaying pictures. "I took enormous risks to obtain it. Do you remember your struggles? You couldn't find it, yet here it is. Are you sure you don't want it? You might regret this later. I may not negotiate again!"

"Keep it," Heather smirked, her voice cold.

Stunned, Ralph stopped her at the door. Through gritted teeth, he said, "Fine! 30%, and that's final! Are you happy now? Let's sign. You get the book, I get the shares."

His words sounded like a painful concession, yet Heather remained impassive, her cold stare unwavering.

Ralph's mind went blank, then overflowed with chaotic thoughts. Her reaction had shattered his plans and confidence. She seemed to have lost interest in the book, which made no sense.

"Just tell me what you want! If you don't want the handbook, I'll return it to Alex! No, I'll auction it to kickboxers. Someone will offer better terms!" he threatened.

To his surprise, Heather chuckled. "Sure, go ahead. I'd love to see what you get for a fake secret kickboxing handbook!"
