Margaret’s brow furrowed with worry. "My ring! It was my wedding ring, a gift from your father. I don't know how I lost it! I've had it all this time!" Her face flushed as she frantically searched the car. "Where could it have gone?"

"Did you forget to put it on before you left? Maybe it's at home?" Lily suggested.

"Impossible," Margaret instantly refuted. "It's my wedding ring; I've never taken it off—not even to sleep or shower. I would never leave it at home. I must have dropped it somewhere. I know I still had it when we entered your house and sat on the sofa."

"That ring is all that's left of your grandfather, Alex. I have to find it! It's more precious than life itself!" Margaret murmured, sadly lowering her head.

Alexander watched her silently before saying, "It's probably not in the car. Maybe you dropped it at our house?"

Margaret’s eyes lit up. "That's possible! I remember having it on the sofa, but now it's gone. If it's not in the car, it must be at home!"

"Let's go back and look!" Alexander exclaimed.

"No!" Margaret stopped him. "It's late, and turning back now would be a waste of time. Let's finish our shopping and then go home."

"You said the ring is so important," Lily added. "We can always shop another time. Let's go home and find your ring."

"No, no, it's fine!" Margaret squeezed Lily's hand. "Yes, the ring is important, but it's rare that I get to go out with you. I…"

Ralph's voice interrupted, "Mom? Did you find the ring?"

Margaret’s face brightened. "Your uncle's at your house. Why don't you let him in? If he finds it, he can send it to us. Then we can finish shopping, and I can still make my show. Isn't that better?"

Lily hesitated, glancing at Alexander. He remained silent, lost in thought.

Margaret grew restless. "Isn't that the best solution? Why are you hesitating? Is it so hard to let your uncle into your home? He's family!"

"I'm sure your father would disagree with your attitude. Besides, what's so precious in your house? You have housekeepers. Are you afraid your uncle will steal something?"

"Alex, you're too guarded. All my life, I've wished for a harmonious family. How am I supposed to tell your grandfather about our family when I die?" Margaret sighed. Seeing Alexander’s continued resistance, she spoke into the phone, "Ralph, since your nephew doesn't trust you, you should just…"

"Let him in," Alexander interrupted.

Lily stared at him in surprise, while Margaret was speechless. "Are you sure?"

Alexander took the phone. "Uncle Ralph, Grandmother's ring is probably under the sofa in the living room. Have the housekeepers help you search. Once you find it, bring it to the mall. Call us when you have it."

"No problem!" Ralph replied.
