Chapter 402: 55 Vouchers

The next day at noon, Landonโ€™s family arrived in Lunova. Daniel picked them up and took them straight to the Zuckerberg family.

Edith was about to give birth. With her mother having passed away early and her father too intimidated by the Zuckerberg family to visit, she felt a wave of relief when Amelia arrived. Ameliaโ€™s presence made her feel like she finally had an anchor.

โ€œAmy, could you stay a little longer and be with me during the birth?โ€ Edith asked.

โ€œOf course,โ€ Amelia replied.

โ€œThatโ€™s wonderful!โ€ Edith exclaimed, her face lighting up with joy. Edith was practically glowing with happiness.

In her final trimester, Edith needed to stay active, so every day she would invite Amelia and Gloria to join her for walks around the villa. Watching Edith, Gloria found herself thinking about her own daughter.

โ€˜Kayla is all the way in Lunova, married into the Prescott family. Can she really handle everything on her own?โ€™ Gloria thought. โ€˜When things get tough, does she have anyone she can really talk to?โ€™ she worried.

Gloria had tried to call Kayla several times, but Amelia would always stop her.

โ€œGloria, we told Kayla we werenโ€™t coming to Lunova. Letโ€™s just hang out at my place for a bit, and then weโ€™ll set up a surprise for her,โ€ Amelia said.

โ€œHonestly, why not just meet her face to face? Whatโ€™s with all this surprise stuff?โ€ Gloria grumbled, not entirely pleased.

โ€œGloria, have you ever actually surprised Kayla when she came home?โ€ Amelia pressed.

Gloria paused and realized, no, she really hadnโ€™t. Sheโ€™d always focused on making Kayla feel loved and welcomeโ€“giving her money, a house, jewelry, designer bagsโ€ฆ but never once had she given her a real surprise.

โ€œGirls love a little romance!โ€ Amelia said with a playful wink. โ€œIf I ever have a daughter, Iโ€™ll make sure to surprise her for every holiday and birthday. No repeats, ever.โ€

Gloria began to reflect on her own actions. When Kayla was little, she loved getting gifts. Even a little grasshopper made from blades of grass would make her so happy. When she received the lavender pillow, she was overjoyed for days, showing it off to everyone she met. But then Kayla disappeared. Gloriaโ€™s life became consumed with searching and tears. She had forgotten all about surprises.

โ€œAmy, letโ€™s really get to work on this!โ€ Gloria jumped right in, her excitement obvious.

Amelia nodded. โ€œAbsolutely!โ€

The two of them started brainstorming ways to give Kayla a truly unforgettable surprise. Meanwhile, Landon started looking into things behind the scenes.

After coming home, Raymond went to the hospital every day to be with Maggie. Heโ€™d always been the classic aloof CEO typeโ€“hardly ever spoke and had no clue how to take care of people. But just having him there made Maggie feel safe.

Worried Raymond would bring up the Lambert family and start scolding her, Maggie decided to confess everything first.

โ€œDonโ€™t worry, Tuff will handle it,โ€ Raymond said, surprisingly not blaming her.

Maggie looked at him, surprised. โ€œRaymond, youโ€™re really not going to scold me?โ€

โ€œScold you? Itโ€™s not like this is the first time youโ€™ve been a little lost,โ€ Raymond said, teasing her.

Maggie just stared at him, at a loss for words.

Diane laughed and said, โ€œSee, Maggie? Raymondโ€™s always been soft on you!โ€

Maggie couldnโ€™t help but smile shyly.

But that line from Lily about โ€œthe pretty secretaryโ€ kept pricking at Maggieโ€™s heart like a thorn. She wanted to bring it up, but just couldnโ€™t find the courage. She was afraid that asking would somehow make it real.

Joyce was nowhere to be seen after that. Ever since the chaos on New Yearโ€™s Eve, everything had finally calmed down. Maggie was genuinely pleased. For the first time in her life, she realized just how wonderful things could be without Joyce around.

Tuff and Kayla were both busy, heading out early and coming back late, each caught up in their own affairs. Everyone thought Kayla was simply busy with company matters, but no one realized she was secretly digging into the mastermind behind the car accident.

In the early hours before dawn, Kayla appeared in one of the old alleys of Lunovaโ€™s second ring district.

โ€œWho are you?โ€ she asked.

About ten feet away, a man dressed head-to-toe in black, with a black mask, almost melted into the shadows of the night. Only his blue eyes were visible, glinting in the darkness. His gaze was so dark and oppressive, it sent a chill down Kaylaโ€™s spine.

โ€œYou really donโ€™t rememberโ€ฆโ€ the blue-eyed man sighed.

Kayla asked, โ€œDo we know each other?โ€

โ€œMiss, looks like all those years the Limitless Sect spent raising you were for nothing,โ€ he said.

Kaylaโ€™s heart thudded in her chest. The Limitless Sectโ€“that was where sheโ€™d spent nearly a decade of her life. After all these years, hearing that name again made Kaylaโ€™s heart race. She couldnโ€™t hide her excitement as her voice trembled, โ€œYouโ€ฆ are you from the Limitless Sect?โ€

โ€œNo,โ€ the man replied.

Kayla pressed her lips together tightly.

โ€˜I canโ€™t even tell if Iโ€™m disappointed or relieved,โ€™ she thought.

The Limitless Sect had been destroyed by the Flying Tiger Sect years ago. Both Tuff and Landon had taken part in the operation that wiped them out. She was the only survivor. That meant all the old grudges and debts had finally been settled. But this man in front of her made her nervous.

Kayla studied him carefully, her voice sharp as she demanded, โ€œThen how do you know about the Limitless Sect?โ€

โ€œSomeone sent me,โ€ he replied.

โ€œWho?โ€ Kayla demanded.

โ€œYour doctorโ€“Brian Shawn,โ€ the man replied.

Kaylaโ€™s heart lurched, panic rising before she could stop it.

โ€˜Brian Shawn? Why him?โ€™ she wondered, stunned.

โ€œMiss, havenโ€™t you ever found it odd? Why has Brian always been right there with you?โ€ the man pressed.

โ€œIโ€ฆโ€ Kayla stammered.

That had never even crossed her mind before. From the moment she met Brian at the Kyle family, heโ€™d always been the one looking after her. He wasnโ€™t much of a talker, but his skills were top-notch, and he was always calm and kind. Back in those lonely, torturous years, he was like sunshine breaking through the gloomโ€“giving her hope, making her feel like maybe things would be okay. He was always gentle with her, comforting and encouraging her, and went all out to patch her up whenever she was hurt. No matter when it was, if she got injured, heโ€™d come runningโ€“never once letting her down. He was like her shadow, always sticking close by her side. What they had was way more than just doctor and patient. It was like they were family, brother and sister whoโ€™d weathered every storm together.

It wasnโ€™t until the Kington Gang was destroyed that she finally realized he had been her senior at the Limitless Sect. Unfortunately, sheโ€™d lost her memory and couldnโ€™t recall anything from her days at the Limitless Sect. Sheโ€™d always assumed he was nothing more than a regular member of the Limitless Sectโ€ฆ

โ€œYour husband and brother killed his family,โ€ the blue-eyed man let out a chilling, low laugh. Kayla pressed a hand to her chest, her breath catching in her throat. โ€œBet he never told you, huh? That ungrateful brat! Just because he went off to become a doctor, he thought he could leave the Limitless Sect behindโ€ฆโ€ the blue-eyed man sneered.
