Chapter 364
Landon and Tuff exchanged a look, both of them at a loss for words.
'Astrology? Seriously? Does he think he's some ancient high priest? And with Lunova's weather being so gloomy and foggy most of the time, what stars does he think he's seeing?' Landon couldn't help but think inwardly.
Monroe seemed obsessed with bringing his wife back, like he'd gone off the deep end.
"Your Mystic Sect is done for, and there's no way we're letting you walk out of here," Landon said flatly.
"Then let your precious sister suffer for all eternity," Monroe shrugged, completely unfazed.
"For every bit of pain my sister feels, Monica will feel ten times as much," Landon shot back.
"Whatever," Monroe replied, like he couldn't care less.
Tuff was taken aback. "We mean what we say. We don't mess around."
"I care about Monica, but my wife comes first," Monroe said flatly. "If I had to pick, it's my wife."
Tuff was speechless.
"Alright, I get it. Maybe losing a hand will teach her a lesson," Landon said, raising his hand. Monica was dragged forward.
Monica burst into tears, screaming in terror. "Daddy, help me! Daddy, please!"
"Do it. Even if you kill her, it makes no difference to me," Monroe said, utterly indifferent.
Tuffโs heart twisted. โMonroeโs heart is stone coldโฆ Are we about to cut off a pregnant womanโs hand? It isnโt the Flying Tiger Sectโs style,' Tuff thought, torn.
"Daddy. Daddy!" Monicaโs face was as white as a sheet, shaking with fear.
"Cut off her left hand first," Landon ordered coldly.
Someone held Monicaโs hand down, and another lifted the blade.
As the blade came down, Monicaโs hand was about to be severed. She couldnโt take it anymore and blacked out.
Landon frowned. "Seriously? Thatโs all it took to knock her out? Drag her out, splash her with cold water, and bring her back."
"Yes, sir," the man replied.
Monica was dragged away like dead weight.
Monroe stayed calm the whole time, not a flicker of emotion on his face. He didnโt seem to care if Monica lived or died.
When Monica finally came to her senses and saw the whole thing on video, she broke down, sobbing. "Daddy doesnโt love me anymoreโฆ How could he ignore whether I live or die? And Iโm pregnant!"
"Monica, do you even want this baby?" Landon asked, his voice icy.
His every move screamed authority, like he was dealing with a prisoner.
Monica nodded desperately. "Of course! Please, Landon. For the sake of how much I love you, donโt hurt me or the baby, please?"
"Fine," Landon replied, giving a cool nod.
Monica let out a sigh of relief, wiped her tears, and pouted, trying to act cute. "Landonโฆ"
"Tell me. How many Jonnys are there, and where are they right now?" Landon asked coldly.
"Huh?" Monica blinked, confused. "Didnโt Jonny die?"
"Your dad went and cloned him again," Landon replied.
"What?" Monica blurted out, totally stunned.
Monica stared blankly. Honestly, she didnโt look like she was lying.
Tuff rubbed his forehead.
'Looks like Monica doesnโt know a thing,' Tuff thought.
"If you donโt do as youโre told, I wonโt just cut off your hand. Iโll scar your face, too," Landon threatened, his voice low and cold.
The icy blade was right against her skin, and Monica trembled uncontrollably.
"Please, donโt ruin my faceโฆ" Her beauty was everything to her. She might as well be dead if her face were destroyed.
"That depends on how you behave," Landon said, pulling the knife away. "Go and get Marvel. Let them talk it out themselves."
"Okay," Monica replied softly.
It almost slipped Tuffโs mind. Monica had another โdaddy,โ Marvel Montgomery.
Marvel didnโt have a superpower, but he was way sharper than Monroe and doted on Monica.
Maybe they could get him to spill something.
"Monica, I can let you go. But you need to give me what I want. Do you understand me?" Landon said.
"Yโฆ Yes, I doโฆ" Monica replied.
Monica shrank back.
Besides fear, Monica also felt a surge of resentment toward Monroe.
'If Daddy doesnโt care whether I live or die, I have to save myself!' thought Monica.
Soon enough, Tuff personally escorted Marvel in.
Compared to Monroe, Marvel looked like a wreckโhaggard and worn out.
"Marvel, please save me," Monica whimpered, throwing herself into his arms.
"Monica, are you alright?" Marvel asked.
Marvel anxiously looked Monica over, checking for any injuries.
When his hand touched Monicaโs belly, he stopped short. "Wait, youโre pregnant?"
"Yeah," Monica nodded hard. "Marvel, will you love my baby?"
"Of course, I will. Butโฆ" Marvel shot a worried look at Landon.
After the Mystic Sect was destroyed, he and Monroe were kept in separate cells.
Marvelโd heard Monroe had surrendered, and his superpowers were gone. Monroe was just a regular guy.
Heโd also heard the Flying Tiger Sect was looking into cloning tech.
'But even so, no one ever came to see him.
Today, he was finally able to face his enemies in person.
"Landon, what do you want?" Marvel asked, his voice low and serious.
Marvel was far less calm and assertive than Monroe as Monroeโs shadow.
"Marvel, he already promised to let me and the baby go, but only if you give him the secret to cloning," Monica whispered, watching Marvelโs face anxiously for any sign of hope.
Monroe had abandoned her, and if even Marvel turned his back on her, she might as well be dead.
"Marvel, youโve always loved me best. Youโll help me, wonโt you?" Monica pleaded, her voice trembling with desperation.
Marvel said, "Only he knows the secret to cloning."
"What about you? Donโt you know anything?" Monica blurted out, panic rising in her voice.
"My research was all about medicine and poisons," Marvel said, pulling out a book heโd kept hidden on him.
Tuff flipped through the pages, his eyes going wide. "Wait, is this from the Zuckerberg family?"
"Thatโs right. Itโs packed with all kinds of ancient toxins. It even has a way to break the love spell," Marvel replied.
"Howโd you get your hands on this?" Tuff asked.
"Joanna gave it to me," Marvel answered.
Tuff furrowed his brows and handed the book over to Landon.
Aside from the damaged title on the cover, he couldnโt recognize a single word inside.
"Marvel, do you know how many Jonnys there are? And where are they?" Monica asked.
Marvel went quiet, a flicker passing through his eyes.
He knew more than he was letting on.
Landon and Tuff were inwardly thrilled, but their faces stayed icy cold.
"Mr. Montgomery, you donโt have to answer. Weโll find out sooner or later anyway," Tuff said, deliberately sounding nonchalant.
Monica anxiously tugged at Marvelโs hand, shooting him a desperate look.
Marvel looked at his precious kid and finally said, "Thereโs only one left."
"Just one?" Landon shot him a skeptical look.
Marvel said, "Cloning isnโt as simple as you think. It took us years to barely make one. But every clone comes with its flaws."
"Yeah, I know. The last Jonny had a bad heart," Landon snorted.
"Exactly. Cloningโs no walk in the park, and the survival rate is even worse. Did my brother send out another Jonny Kyle?" Marvel asked.
Landon just nodded. "Yeah."
"Then thatโs the last one. If you want, take him out," Marvel sighed. "Landon, Iโm telling you the truth. Please, spare Monica and her baby."
"You seem fond of Monica," Landon said, his eyes narrowing suspiciously as he glanced back and forth between the two of them.
Since Marvel and Monroe were twins, it was only natural for Monica to resemble either one.
However, Marvel was far more protective of Monica than Monroe ever was.
Landon started to suspect, โCould Monica be Marvelโs daughter?'
