Listen to this chapter:

Monroe was at his wit's end dealing with Monica and Paul.

When Joanna returned, his mood lifted a little. He asked, “Did you bring back what I wanted?”

“Yes,” Joanna replied.

She opened her suitcase and took out an old, worn book.

The battered cover only faintly revealed two characters: “Secret Arts.”

The contents were all written in a script that looked like ancient oracle bone script—no one could make heads or tails of it.

“Well done!” Monroe flipped through the pages with a smug smile. “Ah, the Zuckerberg family kept this hidden for so many years, and now it’s finally in my hands.”

Joanna asked, “Mr. Montgomery, my task is done. When can I see him?”

“Now,” Monroe replied.

He called over Paul and whispered a few words to him.

Soon, Paul led someone into the Montgomery family’s living room.

Landon, who was hiding on the stairs and peeking, almost tumbled down the steps in shock.

“Porter?” Landon blurted out.

The guy’s face, build, and vibe… It was Porter.

‘Did Monroe really catch him too?‘ Landon thought, his breath quickening.

‘Wait, something’s not right!‘ Landon thought, his heart skipping a beat.

‘Joanna doesn’t even know Porter is still alive…‘ he realized.

“Joanna, take a good look. Isn’t he an exact match?” Monroe’s voice rang out.

“Yes, he is. You did a great job,” Joanna said with a satisfied smile. She stepped forward and nestled into Porter’s arms. “Honey, you’re finally back with me.”

“Honey…” Porter said softly, his voice deep, steady, and strangely compelling.

But the real Porter, after years of mourning his late wife and blaming himself, had ruined his voice long ago.

Landon’s chest heaved as he struggled to breathe. ‘A clone. That’s not the real Porter–that’s a copy,‘ he realized.

Joanna had joined the Mystic Sect just so she could have a cloned husband.

Though he knew he shouldn’t, Landon couldn’t help but feel a little sorry for her.

Porter had never loved her. He’d rather fake his own death than ever show up where she was.

‘Why go through all this?‘ Landon thought.

“What are you doing here?” Monica said behind him, her voice full of annoyance.

Her voice carried downstairs, startling everyone in the living room.

Landon’s face changed for a split second, but he quickly put on his "het actor" face.

He gazed at Monica, eyes full of longing, and said, “I was waiting for you…”

“Get lost! You’re so annoying! I don’t even like you–why do you keep chasing after me?” Monica grumbled, completely fed up, and gave Landon a hard kick.

Landon let himself tumble down the stairs, rolling to a stop right in front of Porter’s clone.

Porter’s clone looked down at him, not reacting at all.

Landon got up on his own and said to Mr. Montgomery, “Sorry for the interruption.”

“You’re such a disappointment,” Monroe muttered, just seeing Monica gave him a headache. He quickly ordered Paul to leave.

But it was too late.

Monica had already spotted Paul.

She threw herself at him, wrapping herself around him. “Honey, why didn’t you nap with me? I woke up and couldn’t find you–I was so worried…”

“…”

Paul glanced awkwardly at Monroe, looking flustered.

Monroe took a deep breath and glared at Landon.

Landon got the hint and stepped forward to pull Monica away. “I’m your fiancé…”

“Get lost!” Monica shoved him away, clinging even tighter to Paul’s neck. “He’s my husband.”

“You’re breaking my heart. I love you so much…” Landon barely got two lines out before he felt so grossed out he just couldn’t keep going.

He lowered his gaze, letting his thoughts drift to Amelia, and in his mind, he whispered to her phantom, ‘Honey, I love you…

His acting was flawless, and Monroe looked very satisfied.

The love spell was seriously powerful, but this whole love triangle mess was a real headache to deal with.

Luckily, Joanna had brought the Zuckerberg family’s ancestral “Secret Art” book, and inside, there was actually a way to break the love spell.

Joanna stared at the scene in shock and couldn’t help blurting out, “Mr. Montgomery, what is this supposed to be?”

“A love triangle,” Monroe said flatly.

“Alright, just take Porter with you and go,” Monroe waved her off.

“Yes,” Joanna answered.

Joanna linked arms with Porter’s clone and left, glancing back over her shoulder every few steps.

She couldn’t shake the feeling that things between Landon, Monica, and Paul were just way too awkward and tangled.

For someone as sharp as Landon, getting his memory wiped was just another Tuesday–he’d been through it before, after all.

‘But seriously, how could he ever fall for Monica?‘

Some feelings are just in your blood. Landon and Amelia, that’s what real love looks like.

Last time he lost his memory, he still couldn’t forget Amelia. The moment he laid eyes on her, he fell for her all over again!

And did all those years of loving in vain finally drive Monica crazy?

Even if she’s lost her mind, shouldn’t she still know hot from not?”

‘Seriously, passing up a total heartthrob like Landon for the old butler. That’s just nasty.

The more Joanna thought about it, the stranger it all felt.

Suddenly, she froze in her tracks, a chill running down her spine as she glanced back at the Montgomery mansion. ‘Wait–are all three of them being mind-controlled?‘ she thought, horrified.

Unbelievable! No matter how crazy Monroe is, there’s no way he’d actually screw over his own daughter like that, right?”

“Honey, let’s go,” Porter’s clone said softly, giving her a gentle nudge.

Joanna snapped out of her thoughts, flashed Porter’s clone a dazzling smile, and the two of them left arm in arm.

Once all the “guests” had left and Monroe was gone too, Landon couldn’t be bothered to keep up the act anymore.

He subtly hinted to Paul to take Monica away.

Paul looked a bit troubled.

To be honest, age was catching up with him, and he was starting to feel the strain.

But Monica had an insatiable appetite in bed, always looking for an excuse to drag him under the covers.

Like today–he’d just slept with her before Landon even left the house, and now she wanted to go again… It had only been a few hours!

“Here, take this,” Landon said, suddenly producing a Viagra pill out of nowhere.

Paul squinted at him. “Where’d you even get that?”

“Picked it up while I was out today,” Landon replied coolly. “Don’t want it? I’ll just use it myself.”

Paul snatched the pill from his hand.

Landon’s eyes narrowed slyly, fox-like. ‘Nailed it! My standing in this family just keeps going up,‘ he thought smugly.

The next day, while Monroe was out, Paul once again let Landon out for some fresh air.

Partly to stay on Landon’s good side, and partly to cut down on the chances of him pestering Monica.

Amelia showed up right on time.

Today, she came by herself.

The moment Landon saw her, worry flashed in his eyes. ‘Honey, how could you come to meet me alone?‘ he thought.

Amelia flashed him a bright smile.

She didn’t have anything important to do today—she just wanted to see him.

So she’d left Night Owl to rest at the hotel. But she wasn’t alone; she had someone else with her.

‘Honey, go back right now. Don’t ever come alone again,‘ Landon said in his mind.

Amelia shook her head and waved at someone who had just walked in the door. “Kayla, over here!”

“I’m late,” Kayla said.

‘Kayla! Landon nearly blacked out from shock.

‘Seriously? Why is everyone showing up now?‘ he thought, feeling dizzy.

“Kayla, the desserts here are really good. I already ordered one for you,” Amelia said, pitching her voice higher to disguise her usual tone.

Landon furrowed his brows.

‘So she can actually speak in such a sweet, girly voice? I never noticed that before,‘ he thought.

That was actually kind of a turn-on.

He made a mental note: once they got back, he’d have her talk to him like that every single night.

“Alright, I’ll give it a try,” Kayla said. She had completely changed her face.

Her nose was now higher, the tip rounder, and all the scars on her face were hidden under some special material.

Landon’s eye twitched, and his heart ached a little.

‘All this, just to see me…‘ he thought, feeling a mix of guilt and tenderness.

‘Honey, I have some news for you,‘ Landon said in his mind.

Amelia’s eyes lit up, and she leaned in closer.

The two tables between them felt like they didn’t even exist; both of them could clearly sense each other’s presence.

It was so familiar, so warm.

Landon felt his heart flutter–he just wanted to pull her into his arms right now and tell her how much he missed her.

“Ahem!” Kayla cleared her throat, bursting their little love bubble.

Landon spoke in his mind: “Joanna just took the clone of Porter from the Montgomery family. Turns out the Mystic Sect’s cloning tech is seriously next level.”
