Chapter 316
The heavy rain had suddenly stopped, and sunlight filtered through the gaps in the clouds, creating a beautiful display of crepuscular rays.
“Even the sunlight has taken on a shape. Landon, are you really not going to fight for your love?” Monroe stood by the window, watching Landon enjoy the scenery as if he were on vacation, and couldn’t help but feel annoyed.
Although Monica was under the influence of the love spell and was totally head over heels for Paul, as Monica’s fiancé, Landon couldn’t just stand by and watch. He had to step up and do something about it. He should be the one fighting to win her back!
Marvel had said that there’s no way to break the love spell for now–only true love can shatter its spell.
As long as Landon could awaken Monica’s real feelings, the love spell would lose its power over her.
“How am I supposed to do that?” Landon shot him a calm, almost indifferent look. “She won’t even see me. What am I supposed to do?”
“Just show her some love! Love her twice as much!” Monroe urged.
Landon let out a mental ‘Heh.’ ‘I’ve got nothing but hate for your daughter, not love!’
“I can’t do that,” Landon said with a lazy shrug.
Monroe pulled up a video of their engagement and played it for him. “She’s the woman you love the most.”
“That’s why I’m willing to let her go,” Landon replied, his words carrying a deeper meaning. “If you truly love someone, you help them find happiness–even if it means letting them go.”
Monroe was so frustrated he couldn’t get a word out.
If Monica had fallen for some young, successful, and good-looking guy, he might’ve actually thought Landon made the right call.
But she fell for Paul, the butler, an old geezer who looked even older than him–a nobody, just some lowly servant!
Every time he came home, he got so mad his chest hurt.
But if he stayed away, he just couldn’t relax.
These days, he’d been heading to the office more often just to take his mind off things.
Marvel had even told him to stop coming in so much.
“Landon, just get Monica back. Once you two are married, everything the Montgomery family has will be yours,” Monroe said.
“Really?” Landon finally looked a bit tempted.
Everything the Montgomery family owns, including the Mystic Sect!
“Of course. Monica’s my only daughter. Who else would I give it to?” Monroe replied.
“This mansion is nice, but honestly, it’s not much better than where I used to stay,” Landon remarked.
Monroe’s expression changed dramatically. “Used to stay?”
“Yeah, feels about the same. I guess money was never really an issue for me,” Landon said, putting on a slightly confused look. “If it really comes down to it, I can always just go back home.”
“Where’s your home?” Monroe asked.
Landon thought and thought, racking his brain for an answer.
In the end, he just shook his head. “I don’t know. I forgot.”
“You’ve lost your home. Now all you have left is Monica. If you don’t cherish her, you might not even have a roof over your head,” Monroe warned.
Landon just gave a carefree smile. “Once I’ve had enough rest, I’ll make a comeback.”
Monroe thought to himself, ‘That alpha vibe of his really doesn’t fade–even amnesia can’t dull it!’
Right now, Landon was in full zen mode, just chilling and recovering. But once he was back to his old self, he’d definitely get back to business.
When that time came, Monroe would bring him into the Mystic Sect and give him some real training.
“Landon, every time you coax Monica back, I’ll give you three million dollars,” Monroe tempted him with cold, hard cash.
If he wanted to make a comeback, he needed some serious seed money.
Right now, Landon was flat broke–he couldn’t even buy himself a cup of coffee without the Montgomery family footing the bill. No way he’d pass up a chance to stack some capital.
Monroe was feeling pretty confident, but Landon just rubbed his temples and said, “No. Thinking about it just gives me a headache.”
Monroe was speechless.
‘Alright then, I won’t go easy on you!’ he thought.
Monroe pulled out another love spell, handling it with extreme care, and handed it to Landon. “Take this, and your headache will go away.”
“What kind of pill is this?” Landon asked, holding the love spell delicately between his fingers.
It was just a clear capsule–he couldn’t see anything moving inside. ‘Weird,’ he thought. ‘In those dramas, spells are always wriggling bugs.
But this one from the Montgomery family was really something else. ‘What on earth is it made of?’ he wondered.
“It’s a headache pill, made just for you. Once you take it and your headache’s gone, win Monica back for me, okay? And stop letting her mess around with that old guy,” Monroe pleaded.
He looked every bit the anxious, heartbroken father–so sincere and pitiful it almost made you feel sorry for him.
Landon nodded. “Alright.”
Then he popped the capsule into his mouth, closed his eyes, as if savoring some rare delicacy.
Monroe was overjoyed and hurried out of the room.
Right after, he shoved Monica inside.
“Monica?” Landon opened his eyes and looked at her with eyes full of tender affection.
Monica exploded in anger. “Why are you looking at me like that? Careful, or I’ll claw your eyes out myself!”
“We’re engaged,” Landon said, taking a step toward her.
Monica turned and stormed off, furious.
Landon followed closely behind. “Monica, don’t go… Let’s talk…”
Monica stormed off, and Landon was hot on her heels.
The whole house turned into a madhouse.
Monroe couldn’t have been more satisfied–finally, he could breathe a sigh of relief.
Two love spells, three people caught up in a messy love triangle. Still, that’s way better than Monica being completely bewitched by Paul alone.
Paul was on high alert, acting like he was facing his worst enemy.
With Monroe right there, he didn’t dare say or do a thing; he could only swallow his frustration and hold it all in.
His heart was all over the place, riding a rollercoaster with Monica’s every mood, and he felt like he could get kicked out of the game at any second.
Luckily, Monica was rock-solid–her eyes and heart were locked on him, no hesitation at all.
As soon as Monroe left, Monica, annoyed by Landon tailing her, slipped back into her room to snuggle up with Paul.
“Honey, that man is so annoying,” Monica complained, pouting at Paul.
“It’s okay, it’s okay. I’m here for you!” Paul comforted her gently.
“I’m gonna throw him out!” Monica pouted, her cheeks puffed up in frustration.
Paul knew there was no way that would ever happen, so he pressed a gentle kiss to her forehead and soothed her softly, “Your dad thinks the world of him. Let’s just pretend he doesn’t exist, alright?”
“My dad must be out of his mind, letting that guy just loaf around at home. I don’t even like him,” Monica huffed.
“He’s not really getting in our way, so don’t be mad, okay?” Paul said softly, trying to soothe her.
After cuddling with Monica and soothing her, Paul went straight to Landon. “You said you wouldn’t try to take Monica from me!”
“I honestly don’t know what’s gotten into me. Mr. Montgomery gave me some headache medicine, and now I just can’t help myself,” Landon said.
Paul’s heart sank.
‘So it’s true–Monica must’ve taken the love spell too, that’s why she’s so crazy about me!’ he thought.
Monica had originally wanted Landon to fall for her, but somehow she ended up taking the love spell herself, and the moment she laid eyes on him, she was hooked.
‘Whew, that was way too close! I almost lost it all–money, power, and the girl. Good thing luck was on my side,’ he thought.
“Paul, what’s going on with me?” Landon asked.
Paul didn’t bat an eye. “It’s probably just some lingering side effect from the headache meds. Don’t worry, I’ll quietly figure something out for you.”
“Okay.” Marvel tossed the other two antidotes down the drain and flushed them away.
Landon agreed without hesitation, a hint of a smile on his lips.
Paul thought to himself, ‘Looks like that spell’s effect on you isn’t as strong as it was on Monica. There’s still hope to turn things around.’
‘But seriously, what kind of potion packs a punch like this?’ he wondered.
“Want some coffee? My treat,” Paul offered.
“Nah,” Landon said, gazing out the window. “The view’s pretty nice after the rain. I think I’ll go for a walk.”
“Alright, I’ll make the arrangements,” Paul replied.
A little over ten minutes later, Landon headed outside to take in the scenery–with a whole squad of bodyguards watching his every move.
Meanwhile, Paul was making the most of his time, having a wild time with Monica.
‘Man, getting old really messes with your stamina. Guess I’ll just have to make up for it by going at it more often; gotta knock Monica up as soon as possible,’ he thought.
Landon didn’t go far; he just wandered around near the villa, checking things out.
Once he’d gained Paul’s trust, step by step, he’d start sneaking out to farther places.
But no matter how far he managed to slip away under Paul’s nose, he still couldn’t see his Honey.
‘Amy, what are you up to right now?’ he wondered.
‘Are you so worried that you can’t eat or sleep? Are you thinking about our son?’
Amy, just hold on a little longer. We’re almost there!’
