Chapter 211
Aiden was about to explode with rage. He thought, โFor the next ten years, Iโll be under Danielโs thumb? Utter humiliation! Iโm the vice leader of the Kington Gang!โ
โYou donโt have to agree, but I can guarantee that no one in the world can cure you,โ Daniel said, finally feeling vindicated.
After being suppressed by Aiden for so long, Daniel finally struck back.
โDaniel, do you know what happens when you cross the Kington Gang?โ Aidenโs eyes grew cold and dangerous.
โThe Flying Tiger Sect can go toe-to-toe with you,โ Daniel replied slowly.
Aiden was fuming all over again, storming around the cramped room.
โEasy with your stepsโdonโt go kicking up dust everywhere. This carpetโs been here for over a decade,โ Daniel said.
If Daniel hadnโt mentioned it, Aiden mightโve been fine, but the moment he did, that itch from the poison flared up all over again.
He glared at Daniel, frustration boiling over. โDonโt forget about Landonโฆโ
โHeโs getting engaged, I know,โ Daniel cut him off. โHe lost his memory and now heโs got another woman.โ
โYou know all that?โ Aiden was surprised.
Daniel nodded. โMr. Kyle, next youโre going to threaten me with Kayla, arenโt you?โ
Aiden was speechless. His scheme was totally exposed.
โLanden is the Kyle familyโs own blood, isnโt he?โ Daniel chuckled. โSo youโd better think twice before you make your next move!โ
Aiden was so mad he could grind his teeth to dust.
He would never use Paloma as a bargaining chip unless he had no other choiceโshe was his sister-in-law, and more than that, his sister.
She was the only warmth in his life, the one person who cared for him when his parents never did.
โAlright, you can go now. Theyโre at the Grand Vista Hotel,โ Daniel said, waving for the bodyguards to let go and opening the door.
Aidenโs chest was heaving with rage. He shot Daniel a long, furious glare before storming out in a huff.
As soon as he stepped outside, he wanted nothing more than to storm back in and wring Danielโs neck.
Just two blocks away, the city center was buzzing; luxury hotels lined the streets one after another.
Under the night sky, those lavish lights screamed wealth and extravagance.
The Grand Vista Hotel, where Paloma was staying, was right there. But Daniel, just to mess with him, had stuck him in this crummy old guesthouse that time had forgotten.
Aiden patted himself downโno phone, no cash.
That meant heโd have to hoof it all the way to the Grand Vista Hotel.
โOne day, Iโll have you all on your knees begging for mercy!โ Aiden grumbled, cursing under his breath as he stalked through the city streets.
After walking for a full thirty minutes, he finally arrived at the Grand Vista Hotel.
Paloma had already gotten word that he was back and was waiting in the hotel lobby with the butler and a few others.
โAiden, youโre finally back,โ Paloma called out.
She pulled him into a gentle hug.
Aiden quickly stepped back. โIโm all dirty, donโt hug meโฆโ
โAiden?โ Paloma called out, concern in her voice.
โThat jerk Daniel made me stay in some filthy dump,โ Aiden grumbled.
Palomaโs face fell, and she shot a worried look at the butler.
The butler looked startled too. โMr. Kyle, did you catch something?โ he asked.
There were still a few guests coming and going in the lobby, and when they heard that, everyone turned to stare and quickly backed away.
โShut up! Canโt expect anything smart out of your mouth!โ Aiden snapped, giving the butler a couple of kicks. โI meant the place was a health hazard, not that I caught anything.โ
โYes, yes, of courseโฆโ The butler quickly lowered his head and hurried to lead Aiden to the hotelโs most luxurious presidential suite.
The suite was spacious, bright, and spotlessโeverything looked like it was fresh out of the box.
โNow this is what I call a hotel,โ Aiden thought with satisfaction.
He finally let out a deep breath and made a beeline for the bathroom.
He scrubbed himself raw and soaked in the tub for a whole hour before finally stepping out.
He didnโt even hesitate to toss all his old clothes straight into the trash and put on a brand new set.
After cleaning up and changing, he finally felt human againโlike all the grime was gone.
โMr. Kyle, please enjoy your meal,โ the butler said, having thoughtfully prepared a lavish late-night feast.
Aiden was famishedโhe devoured the food like a starving wolf, completely forgetting about manners.
Paloma looked at Aiden with gentle concern. โAiden, whatโs your situation now?โ
โIโve been poisoned. Itโll take ten years to cure it. The antidoteโs in Danielโs handsโI have to go to him every three months for a pill,โ Aiden said, his frustration boiling over.
Just thinking about it made Aiden even more frustrated. He snapped at the butler, โWhy arenโt you out there finding someone to cure me? Are you really just going to stand by and watch me be under Danielโs thumb for ten whole years?โ
โMr. Kyle, weโve tried everything. The poison is incredibly strangeโitโs made up of all kinds of toxins, and no one can do anything about it,โ the butler replied, his face full of misery.
God knows how busy he had been these past two daysโhis phone practically melted from all the calls.
He had to admit, Jonas really was something else. He just couldnโt find anyone who could cure Aiden.
โIsnโt there a miracle doctor in Nusmin named Morgan Mitchell? Why not try him?โ Paloma suggested.
Aidenโs face darkened, and he quickly cut her off. โNo! Weโre not going to him.โ
โAiden?โ Paloma propped her chin in her hand, clearly confused.
โSeriously, Paloma, Iโm not dying anytime soon. You really donโt have to worry,โ Aiden reassured her.
As far as he knew, Morgan was tight with Landon.
โNo way am I letting that guy anywhere near Paloma,โ he swore inwardly.
โAre you feeling uncomfortable?โ Paloma asked, her voice full of concern.
Aiden shook his head. โIโm fine right now.โ
โAlright, whatever you say,โ Paloma replied, her expression full of doting affection.
Aiden couldnโt meet her gentle, motherly smile and lowered his eyes.
โYouโve been through a lot these past two days. Eat up and then get some rest,โ Paloma said.
Aiden had already slept plenty over the past couple of days. โPaloma, whereโs Amelia?โ he asked.
โSheโs at the Zuckerberg familyโs place,โ Paloma replied.
โDid sheโฆ say anything to you?โ Aiden asked, his tone cautious.
โThereโs nothing to say between enemies,โ Paloma replied with a light laugh.
Paloma let out a soft, knowing smile. Every gesture radiated a noble grace, like a fairy untouched by the mortal world.
Ever since she lost her memory, she just stopped caring about anything outside her own little world.
She barely even bothered with her own son, Landen.
She kept to herself, lying flat and enjoying a life of effortless luxuryโthe only thing she cared about anymore was painting.
Aiden looked at her, his heart a whirlwind of emotions.
Someone like her, almost otherworldly, shouldnโt be bothered by the troubles of the mortal world.
Anyway, Landon wasnโt coming back. No one could ever take his sister away from him again.
โPaloma, why donโt we go back to Nusmin tomorrow?โ Aiden suggested.
For once, Paloma actually said no. โNo.โ
โPaloma?โ Aiden blinked in surprise.
โYou still have poison in your system,โ Paloma said.
โItโs really not that urgentโฆโ Aiden tried to reassure her.
โIt is to me,โ Paloma cut him off. โEver since you were poisoned, I havenโt been able to eat or sleep.โ
Aiden felt a warm, comforting glow in his heart.
โSince weโre already here, letโs stay a few more days. Maybe weโll figure something else out. Iโve already told Mom and Dad,โ Paloma said gently.
Aiden thought for a moment, then agreed. โOkay.โ
He took his time enjoying the midnight feast, tossing a few words to Paloma every so often.
Most of the time, it was him doing all the talking while Paloma just quietly listened.
He only stopped his endless chatter when Paloma started getting sleepy and said she was heading back to her room.
After walking Paloma back to her room, the butler hurried over to report. โMr. Kyle, they all know about her true identity, but theyโve been keeping quiet this whole time. Could they be plotting something major?โ
โWith Landon out of the picture, Amelia canโt make any waves,โ Aiden said with a cold smirk.
His own sister becoming the daughter of the enemy familyโno one could ever accept that.
Amelia would never dare to provoke Paloma.
โShould we go ahead and capture Ms. Edwards again?โ the butler asked.
โNo,โ Aiden said flatly.
He fell silent, lost in thought as he scrolled through his phone.
When he saw the news about Landon getting engaged to Monica, a plan started to form in his mind.
