Chapter 150

That night, Landon received a message from Lunova. โ€œBoss, the Meyers family canโ€™t locate the medicine at the moment and is asking for a few more days. By tomorrow afternoon at the latest.โ€

โ€œSheโ€™s just stalling for time!โ€ Landon sneered coldly. โ€œGot it. Iโ€™ll pull an all-nighter to wrap things up. By tomorrow, Iโ€™ll have the Meyers family out of Project Azureveil for good!"

โ€œAnd thatโ€™s not all,โ€ Landon paused deliberately, his voice icy. โ€œMake sure they understand the real price of leaving Project Azureveil. That family wonโ€™t last another day in Lunova!โ€

โ€œUnderstood, Sir.โ€

After hanging up, an evil smile appeared on Landonโ€™s lips. โ€˜Itโ€™s been a while since I flexed my muscles. The Meyers family will be good practice,โ€™ he thought.

โ€œWho were you talking to, Honey? Whatโ€™s up with the Meyers family?โ€ Amelia stepped out of the bathroom, drying her hair as she spoke.

Wrapped in nothing but a towel, Amelia looked soft and inviting, like a sweet treat. Landon put away his intimidating look and beckoned. โ€œCome here.โ€

โ€œNo way!โ€ Amelia shot back immediately.

โ€˜If I go over there, heโ€™ll just want to get freaky again,โ€™ Amelia thought, blushing helplessly. Her legs were still shaky, but his core strength was immense. Just thinking about it made Amelia blush.

Amelia couldnโ€™t help but wonder, โ€˜His core is rock solid, so why are his legs still so weak?โ€™

โ€˜Sometimes heโ€™d even claim his bad legs made it inconvenient and ask me to take the lead on top,โ€™ Amelia thought, rolling her eyes.

Landon wheeled himself over and teased, โ€œHoney, your face is so red. Are you thinking about something naughty?โ€

Amelia quickly backed away, waving her hands in a fluster. โ€œNo, itโ€™s just warm here.โ€

โ€œThen let me help you cool down,โ€ Landon said with a teasing smile.

โ€œThereโ€™s no need,โ€ Amelia replied quickly, flashing a shy smile as she dodged away. She darted into the walk-in closet, hiding herself away in a fluster. Meanwhile, Landon burst into hearty laughter.

Ameliaโ€™s face burning, she muttered in the walk-in closet, โ€œThat shameless man is always teasing me!โ€

She opened the wardrobe and slipped into a fresh silk nightgown. But suddenly, silence fell outside.

Amelia peeked out suspiciously, only to find Landon was nowhere to be seen. Outside the window, it was pitch-black. No stars or moon in sight. The clockโ€™s hands pointed to 10 p.m.

โ€˜Going out this late?โ€™ Amelia thought, feeling uneasy.

She headed downstairs to check. Gloria had already gone to bed, leaving the house in complete silence. But Landon was nowhere to be seen.

โ€œWhere did he go? He wouldnโ€™t be out clubbing this late, would he?โ€ Amelia muttered, a hint of worry in her voice.

โ€œLast time, he nearly passed out drunk in Elaineโ€™s arms. Isnโ€™t he afraid of getting drunk again and letting her take advantage of him?โ€ Amelia grabbed a random set of car keys and headed out to find Landon.

โ€˜Iโ€™ll keep an eye on my husband!โ€™

As soon as she reached the garage, Landonโ€™s deep, warning voice cut through the darkness, โ€œNow that your face has healed, cherish it and stay out of Norava. Donโ€™t come here looking for trouble again.โ€

Chapter 151

Elaine cooed, โ€œLandon, I came all this way just for you. Look at my face! Go on, touch it. See? Itโ€™s perfectly healed.โ€

Elaineโ€™s sickeningly sweet voice sent shivers down Ameliaโ€™s spine. The garage was swallowed by the inky darkness of the cold night.

Amelia couldnโ€™t make out either of them in the darkness, hesitating over whether she should slip away quietly. Given Landonโ€™s temper, there was no way heโ€™d ever get involved with Elaine. Amelia was sure of it.

Amelia thought, โ€œIt wonโ€™t be long before Elaine runs off in tears again, just like before. Standing here like a spectator waiting for the drama wouldnโ€™t be right.โ€

โ€œElaine, do you know where my sister Kayla is?โ€ Landonโ€™s voice rang out again, and Amelia froze mid-step, a wave of intense unease surging through her.

Elaine had come prepared. โ€œYes.โ€ Elaine nodded with a pout. โ€œLandon, I know youโ€™ve been searching for Kayla all these years. I may not be capable, but Iโ€™ve been secretly helping you look for her.โ€

โ€œThen where is she?โ€ Landonโ€™s voice was impatient, his agitation unmistakable.

Amelia clutched at her chest, her delicate brows furrowing in distress. Just like in those clichรฉ TV series, Elaineโ€™s about to lay down her conditions, Amelia thought.

Elaine said softly, โ€œRest assured, Landon. Kaylaโ€™s doing well these days.โ€

โ€œSo where is she?โ€ Landon demanded, his voice rising with urgency.

โ€œLandon, youโ€™re scaring me!โ€ Elaine whimpered pitifully, letting out soft sniffles.

Landon took a deep breath, forcing himself to calm down. He softened his tone and said, โ€œElaine, please, tell me. Where is Kayla?โ€

Elaine stamped her foot petulantly, putting on her spoiled princess act. โ€œYouโ€™re always picking on me. Iโ€™m not telling you!โ€

Amelia had already guessed Elaineโ€™s game. She was trying to force Landon to divorce her and marry Elaine instead.

If it were anything else, Amelia wouldโ€™ve just gone back to bed without a second thought. But when it came to Kayla, her confidence faltered.

Amelia couldnโ€™t help but recall the crude joke from Zacharyโ€™s rowdy friends, โ€œA wife is like a coat. You can always get a new one. But siblings? Once theyโ€™re gone, theyโ€™re gone forever.โ€

โ€˜Would Landon treat me the same way?โ€™ Amelia wondered, her heart tightening with uncertainty.

โ€œElaine, donโ€™t push me too far!โ€ Landonโ€™s patience finally snapped. His furious growl tore through the darkness like a wild animal.

Elaine pouted, โ€œLandon, shouting at me wonโ€™t help. My father holds all the information about Kayla. The only way youโ€™ll get it is if you divorce Amelia and marry-"

โ€œGet the hell out of here!โ€ Before Elaine could finish, Landon cut her off furiously.

Even through the pitch-black night, Amelia could sense his fury rapidly escalating until it reached its boiling point. Worried he might hurt himself in his anger, Amelia flicked on the garage light and called out, โ€œHoney, whoโ€™s got you so upset?โ€

Silence lingered for a moment before Landon wheeled himself out, his voice deliberately calmed as he said, โ€œNothing important, Darling. Donโ€™t trouble yourself with it.โ€

โ€œSo Kayla means nothing to you now, Landon?โ€ Elaine snapped, strutting out from the darkness in her stilettos, her voice sounded vicious, and her face was almost as good as new.

โ€˜Wow, which clinic has such an incredible skin specialist?โ€™ Amelia marveled.

Elaine crossed her arms with a contemptuous sneer. โ€œAmelia, you must have overheard our conversation, right? How shameless! Eavesdropping in your own home.โ€

Chapter 152

Landon shook his head. โ€œIgnore her.โ€ He took Ameliaโ€™s hand and wheeled back toward the house.

A soft night breeze swept by, the silk nightgown clinging to her body and accentuating every alluring curve. Landon frowned, taking off his jacket and handing it to her. โ€œHere, put this on.โ€

โ€œHuh?โ€ Amelia blinked, puzzled.

โ€œToo many eyes in the house. Be more careful from now on.โ€ Landonโ€™s expression darkened with displeasure. โ€˜Only I get to admire how stunning my wifeโ€™s figure is. No one else gets that privilege!โ€™

Amelia finally caught his drift. With an amused smile, she took the jacket and slipped it on. Meanwhile, Elaine was left standing, completely ignored.

โ€˜Damn it! I even played the Kayla card. Why isnโ€™t Landon moved at all?โ€™ Elaine thought viciously, โ€˜Fine! Iโ€™ll go-"

Elaine spat, "Amelia, you sick bitch! How dare you keep hogging Landon like this?"

"Elaine!" Landon snapped before Amelia could react.

However, Amelia soon stepped forward and said firmly, "I'll handle this!"

She held Landon back, then turned to face Elaine, who was seething with anger. With a calm, almost mocking smile, she said, "Still as pushy as ever, Ms. Atkinson? So, if I leave the Kingsleys, will you bring Kayla back? Is that the deal?"

โ€œOf course!โ€ Elaineโ€™s eyes gleamed with triumph, thinking she had won. โ€œAmelia, itโ€™s about time you know your place. Get the hell out of this house now!โ€

Landonโ€™s heart sank hearing Ameliaโ€™s words. โ€˜My wife doesnโ€™t want me anymore?โ€™ he thought, his heart sinking.

"Fine. Bring Kayla here. The moment she enters the house, Iโ€™ll leave this house,โ€ Amelia said calmly.

Landon squeezed his eyes shut, gripping the wheelchair arms with his knuckles turned white to keep him from exploding.

โ€˜Amelia, what the hell are you talking about? I never agreed to her terms. How dare you say yes? What gives you the right?โ€™ The pain was unbearable. A storm of fury churned inside Landon, but he choked it all down before a single word could reach Amelia.

Elaine narrowed her eyes at Amelia, suspicion written all over her face. โ€œDo you mean your words?โ€

โ€œI am,โ€ Amelia nodded. โ€œHow about tomorrow? Itโ€™s only a two-hour drive from your place to Norava. That should be plenty of time, right?โ€

โ€œNo, no. Thatโ€™s not enough. I-Iโ€™ll need a few more days,โ€ Elaine suddenly stammered, her eyes darting away nervously.

Amelia let out a cold laugh, her piercing gaze seeing right through Elaine. โ€œElaine, you donโ€™t know Kaylaโ€™s whereabouts, do you?โ€
