Chapter 323
Inside the house, Zoe sobbed. Kennethโs voice only increased her distress. She wished she could confront him immediately.
โMelody was just a little freaked out, and Kenneth came to condemn us. Who is going to condemn her for Ged and Jade? Itโs precisely because thereโs no evidence that Melody can pretend to be innocent and deceive everyone.โ Zoe stamped her feet and exclaimed, โIโm so angry!โ
Tiffany looked at her, waiting for her to calm down before saying, โAnger wonโt solve the problem.โ
โTiffany, what do you think we should do? Are we just going to let all this go?โ
โNo, of course not.โ Tiffany poured a glass of water and drank it slowly.
Melody had tricked Tiffany into going up Melvor Mountain to kill her the day after they arrived. Melody should have paid the price for her actions, but she was saved by the local villagers.
Now, Tiffany could only find another way to get back at her. โAlright, Iโll handle this. Pretend you donโt know anything. You canโt interfere or act on your own. Do you understand?โ Tiffany said to Zoe.
She worried that Zoe would take it too hard and risk her life. That would be truly stupid.
โGot it?โ Zoe nodded.
Tiffany stood up. โPack up. Weโll go back tomorrow morning.โ
The heavy rain on Melvor Mountain had stopped. The flash floods had already rushed down the mountain. Rainfall would decrease, making a huge flood unlikely.
Tiffany and Zoe had been gone for many days. It was time to return.
Outside the courtyard, Kenneth continued shouting at the top of his lungs after being thrown out by Johnโs subordinates. The noise attracted many children.
Kenneth was thick-skinned, but being stared at by the childrenโs puzzled, clear eyes embarrassed him, and he stopped shouting. However, he was still too angry to leave. In the end, he blocked the courtyard entrance to show his anger.
Seeing this, John rolled his eyes. โRichard is wise, mighty, swift, and decisive. Everyone admires him and bows to him. But how could his nephew be such a stupid coward? Itโll be embarrassing if others know about Kenneth,โ John thought.
The children were very polite. Seeing that Kenneth couldnโt enter, they stopped and asked John, โSir, can we go in and play with Tiffany?โ
John nodded, since Tiffany had ordered that people like Kenneth, and anyone suspicious, were not allowed in. The children were so cute that he let them pass without questioning them.
Tiffany heard the chatter and went to the door. She was going to tell everyone she was leaving tomorrow.
The children burst into tears at the news. One minute they were in high spirits; the next, they were crying their hearts out. It almost broke Tiffanyโs heart to see them.
โTiffany, the wild fruits on the mountain will ripen in two days. I want to pluck them for you to try, but youโre leaving. I donโt want you to leave,โ one child wailed.
โTiffany, will you come back to see us?โ another child asked.
โTiffany, donโt go back. After you leave, you wonโt remember usโฆ I want you to stay. Tiffany, please donโt go.โ As the other children followed suit, the atmosphere became sad.
Surrounded by the children, Tiffany smiled gently and stroked their little heads one by one. She said gently, โNo, I will always remember you, cutie pies.โ
โReally? We want a pinky swear!โ the children demanded in unison.
โSure,โ she replied. Tiffany extended her pinky and made a pinky swear with each child.
Kenneth watched everything quietly from outside. He saw her faint smile and gentle gaze in her clear, sparkling eyes. Her smile was enchanting, as bright and warm as the morning sun.
He could tell the children really liked her. Then he started to wonder, โThere is nothing fake about their fondness. Would such a woman really be as vicious as I imagine?โ
Kenneth was in a daze. His questions for Tiffany suddenly stuck in his throat, and his prepared speech of condemnation was gone. He turned around and fled.
At night, Cedar Ridge Villa was brightly lit.
Charlie sat on the sofa and looked at the calendar. Then he muttered, โFour days after my baby girl was away from home, I still miss her.โ
Thalia couldnโt help but hold her forehead. โOh, spare me. How many times do you have to talk about it a day? Seriously, youโre busy with work most of the day. When your daughter is at home, youโre not so concerned.โ
โNonsense, I am,โ Charlie immediately retorted, looking displeased.
Thalia shot him a cold glance, and he relented. โWhatever my wife says. Iโll shut up and take time to reflect.โ
Eric listened from the side and immediately sighed. Then he took his laptop upstairs and returned to his room, sick of such lovey-dovey chats.
It was getting darker. Charlie looked out the window and yawned. โLetโs go. Itโs getting late. Itโs time to sleep.โ
Thalia stood up as well. At that moment, the doorbell rang. The couple looked at each other in confusion, wondering who would come at this hour.
The servant hurried out to investigate and saw a young woman standing outside the big iron gate. The woman was wearing a cap that covered most of her face, so the servant couldnโt judge her from her face.
The servant thought, โShe doesnโt look like a good person.โ However, he still asked politely, โMiss, who are you looking for?โ
โIโm looking for Mr. and Mrs. Kelley. Help me inform them and sayโฆโ Sandra paused for a smile. โJust say that I have the information they want to know about their daughter.โ
โIโll be back in a minute,โ the servant replied. He thought something had happened to Tiffany, so he rushed into the villa and repeated what Sandra had said.
Charlie and Thalia thought the same. They immediately said, โQuick, invite her in.โ
They had difficulty contacting Tiffany over the past few days because of bad reception in the mountains. They managed phone calls now and then. However, there was a network problem in the mountains yesterday, leaving them unable to reach her since. They felt Tiffany would be fine, but they were still worried.
Chapter 323 (continued)
Sandra got her wish and entered Cedar Ridge Villa. As the servant showed her the way, he kindly reminded her, โWatch your step.โ
It was dark. She might trip if she walked on the cobblestone path without paying attention.
Sandra smiled and replied confidently, โI know.โ
Back then, she had lived here for a few years. She was very familiar with the surroundings, including this small path. It was a pity that everything changed later on. Otherwise, she could have continued her life in this villa and heard the servants respectfully call her โMiss Sandra Kelley.โ
The memory made Sandraโs smile even colder.
Soon, she came into the villa and sat on the sofa opposite Charlie and Thalia.
