Chapter 120: Room Swap
โCome inside with me,โ Easton commanded, pulling her into the house regardless of her willingness.
โLet me go! You creep!โ Ellis struggled with all her might against Easton, but couldnโt break free, her eyes blazing with anger. โYouโll definitely get whatโs coming to you!โ
โBefore you curse me with karma, could you use your tiny brain to think about what would happen if you fell from up there?โ Easton easily restrained her flailing arms, looking down at her with a stern gaze. โDo you really want to die?โ
He had come to Dynasty Estate to see Ellis, like a bird in a cage, unable to escape his grasp, not to watch her risk her life climbing down the wall. The sight had a much more profound impact than when he had rescued her from a kidnapping.
โWhether I want to die is none of your business!โ Ellis glared at him. โIf I had actually died, it would have been your fault!โ
โWhat am I supposed to say to you? Canโt you just stay quietly in your room?โ Easton frowned deeply. โDo you have any idea how scared I was when I saw you climbing down?โ
Seeing her climbing brought a familiar yet strange fear over him.
โEasy for you to say! Why donโt you try being good? If I locked you up, Iโd like to see what you would do.โ Ellis shot back coldly. โSo I scared you, so what? You expect me to compensate you for emotional distress? Get real!โ
Catching a glimpse of the bewildered butler beside them, Easton turned his head and said sharply, โFrom the third floor to the first! I told you to keep an eye on Ellis; is this how you do it?โ
Initially, the butler was puzzled to see Ellis and Easton together on the first floor, having only been away from the third floor for at most ten minutes. How did Ellis get down so quickly and end up with Easton?
After overhearing their conversation and feeling the intense pressure from Easton, the butler broke into a sweat and stuttered, โSir, Iโโ
Ellis jumped in to defend the butler, who had just given her 1400 dollars in cash. โEaston, are you sick? Trying to regain oneโs freedom is natural, and it has nothing to do with the butler. Stop picking on him!โ
The girl spoke up for the butler without considering her own safety, as if scaling the wall to the first floor was just a normal warm-up for her. Easton was so curious he almost wanted to dissect her brain to see what was inside.
With a cutting glare from Easton, the butler bowed his head under the pressure. โSir, Iโm sorry, I failed to do my job. Please forgive me.โ
Turning back to Ellis, Easton pointed at her temple. โDonโt do anything as stupid as climbing walls again; remember you only have one life.โ
A slight pain spread from her temple, and Ellis irritably punched Easton in the chest.
โGet lost; I want to go to sleep!โ
She hadnโt escaped today; chalk it up to bad luck. Tomorrow, sheโd definitely find a new way out.
As the elevator ascended, Ellis saw the number 5 on the display, and her heart sank. From the third floor, she had dared to climb down, but the fifth floor was beyond her tolerance for height and risk; she wouldnโt dare gamble with her life so recklessly.
In her frustration, she heard him not only change her room but also instruct the butler to seal the windows. Everything went dark before her eyes; he was clearly cutting off her escape routes.
Having learned from this mistake, the butler got to work sealing the windows with renewed vigor.
Surrounded by people, except for Easton who was busy ordering the sealing of the windows, Ellis felt like she was in a prison tailored just for her, utterly helpless.
If only murder were legal. She glanced sideways at Easton, controlling her urge to kill him.
Catching the look she had just given him, Easton remembered a promise he had made to Carly at the office earlier that day and dialed her number, then handed the phone to Ellis.
โTell Carly youโre safe.โ
Ellis resisted the urge to smash the phone on Eastonโs face. This scumbag took me away right in front of Carly, and now he wants me to report my safety to her? What kind of madness is this?
She wanted to throw the phone aside, but seeing the call was already in progress, she removed the anger from her tone, โMs. Carly.โ
After leaving Hudson Group, Carly had visited Dynasty Estate once but unfortunately couldnโt find out anything significant and had to leave without accomplishing her mission.
Now hearing Ellisโs call from Eastonโs number, Carly felt slightly reassured.
โEllis, Easton, heโฆโ
Carly paused, and Ellis understood the implication.
โIโm fine; he hasnโt done anything to me; itโs justโฆโ
Before she could finish, the phone suddenly felt empty in her hand; Easton had taken it away.
Meeting her gaze, Easton put away the phone and said, โYouโve reported your safety; thatโs the end of the call.โ
