Chapter 107: Unsettled
Unfortunately, Ellisโs body hadnโt regained the ability to stand properly. As soon as her feet hit the floor, they felt weak, almost causing her to fall. Just then, a pair of large hands appeared in front of her, seemingly to help. But wanting no physical contact with Easton, she quickly grabbed the nightstand to avoid falling flat on her face.
โEllis, youโre quite stubborn,โ Easton said.
Watching Ellis stubbornly maintain distance from him, Easton wasnโt angry; more unaccustomed, and feeling a rebellious streak coming on. She disliked his closeness, so he deliberately got closer. He pulled her up with one hand while his other handโs fingers played with her somewhat messy hair. Meeting her angry gaze, he smirked slightly. โAt home, you donโt get to be stubborn.โ
Disgusted by his words that seemed to control someone elseโs fate, Ellis glared fiercely at Easton. โIf murder wasnโt illegal, Iโd kill you right now, chop you up, and throw you somewhere else, you psycho!โ
โYouโre cursing me out and even calling me a psycho. Your manners are truly nonexistent.โ At this point, Easton didnโt care how she insulted him; he was only focused on keeping her indoors, preventing her from finding another man to marry. โForget it, you never had any manners to begin with.โ
โYouโre seriously sick!โ Overwhelmed by the dayโs events and too tired to continue arguing, Ellis turned her back on Easton. The bed was right there, and perhaps due to the richness of human imagination, she couldnโt help but picture Easton and Victoria together on this very bed. Now, with Easton clearly intending to keep her locked in this room, she felt nauseous.
Easton didnโt love Victoria as she had imagined. After all, she had slapped Victoria, and aside from demanding an apology once, he never mentioned it again. This suggested that Victoria probably couldnโt get Easton to switch bedrooms, and given his needs and preferences, it was likely that Victoria had been with him in different spots around this bedroom.
Suddenly, Ellis began to throw up. Easton stepped forward, asking, โWhatโs wrong?โ
โGet away!โ Not wanting to deal with Easton, Ellis headed to the bathroom, intending to vomit into the sink. But as she entered the bathroom, the images in her mind didnโt stop; instead of Victoria, she now saw herself with Easton. The main reason being, she had slept with Easton for five years. During that time, Easton sometimes had perverse and unreasonable demands, and back then, using Mayaโs words, she was โlove-brained,โ doing everything to satisfy him.
Their activities werenโt limited to the bed; they had done it in many places. She remembered once after a shower, Easton had carried her, sat her on the sink, and thenโฆ What used to be sweet memories now triggered her disgust.
She disliked using things others had used; it felt like picking up second-hand goods discarded by someone else. And Easton was exactly that, a piece of used goods, standing right next to her, making her want to vomit even more.
Unable to stand it, she left the bathroom and then tried to leave the room. Seeing how uncomfortable Ellis looked, Easton didnโt immediately stop her, instead following her while calling the butler to summon the private doctor. The way out seemed clear, but just a few steps from the door, her right hand was caught, halting her progress. Ellis turned around. She must have been half-blind, for she thought she saw a flicker of concern on Eastonโs face. He hadnโt cared for me when I was kidnapped and in critical condition in the hospital for three days, so why would he care about a little vomiting?
Just as she was about to shake off Eastonโs hand, he hesitated and then looked at her, his gaze dropping to her abdomen thoughtfully. โRandom vomiting, you wouldnโt be pregnant, would you?โ
Ellis wanted to smash something over his head. Him thinking Iโm pregnant? Heโs out of his mind! No matter what, I couldnโt be pregnant! She had only been with him, and out of countless times, just twice they hadnโt taken precautions. The last time was five years ago, and the most recent was forced; she took emergency contraception afterwards.
Thinking it over, emergency contraception wasnโt 100% effective. She realized it had been almost a month since she took it, and she hadnโt had her period. Suddenly, Eastonโs suggestion made her nervous. She definitely couldnโt be unlucky enough to get pregnant now and have to consider an abortion later.
Her facial expressions were a spectacle, ending with her glaring at him, which Easton didnโt understand why she loved to do so much. Wrong; she loved glaring at him. He particularly disliked being glared at by her, but considering her discomfort and the potential pregnancy, he didnโt argue.
โGo back to the room and rest; wait for the doctor to check you.โ
