Chapter 158
Suzanne smiled, her eyes crinkling. “No way! I actually feel like I’ve lost weight lately.” Knowing Amelia was worried, she quickly changed the subject. Squatting down, she picked a ripe tomato from the vine. “Wow, Grandma, you’re amazing! This looks delicious!” She rinsed it in the nearby sink before taking a big bite. Her eyes instantly lit up. “Mmm, so good!”
Amelia chuckled heartily. “If you like it, pick more and take some home.” Saurine didn’t refuse and nodded with a smile. Tristan gestured for her to sit beside him, patting the seat next to him. “Suzie, come sit.” His gaze was filled with warmth.
Suzanne obediently sat next to him while Amelia walked toward the vegetable patch. “I’ll pick some for you,” she said, as if afraid Suzanne would leave empty-handed.
Watching Amelia’s busy figure, Suzanne felt an unexpected sense of peace. She called out, “Grandma, take it slow!” Amph’s bright laughter was her only reply.
Her grandparents were always worried about her and would constantly ask if she was doing well. Back then, Suzanne had believed in keeping the peace, thinking that enduring the hardships would eventually make everything better. Because of that, she had never told them much, fearing they would worry.
But from now on, she would no longer be the Suzanne who endured everything silently. She owed it to her grandparents to stand up for herself.
Tristan studied Suzanne with a kind smile on his lips, but his eyes held a sharp glint. “Suzie, were you bullied?”
She looked up at him, laughing lightly. “How could I be? With you and Grandma around, who would dare mess with me?”
Tristan laughed. “So tell me, what have you been up to these past six months?”
Suzanne’s eyes sparked. “I’ve done a lot!”
“06?” Clearly intrigued, both Tristan and Amelia turned their full attention to her. Suzanne picked out a few interesting stories, making them laugh heartily. An hour passed in the blink of an eye, yet they seemed to have endless things to talk about.
Leaning against Tristan’s arm, she casually asked, “Grandpa, how are Yates Corporation’s shares distributed?” She needed to understand this before making her next move. After all, Frost Corporation had been supporting Yates Corporation for years. Who better to ask than Tristan? Tristan paused, surprised. “Why do you ask?!”
Suzanne had never shown interest in such matters before; she hadn’t even wanted to take over Frost Corporation, yet now… Suzanne sighed inwardly. As expected of Tristan—nothing escaped his notice. She was asking about shares? Even Amelia glanced at her curiously, but Suzanne simply said, “I’ve grown up. I need to start learning things instead of just lazing around.” Tristan studied her for a moment before laughing heartily. “That’s my granddaughter!”
Suzanne exhaled quietly. It seemed she had successfully deflected his curiosity, though what she had said was also true. Tristan took a sip from his drink before replying. “Your father holds 10%, the other shareholders hold 20% collectively, and the rest belongs to you.”
“Scandina and I left it to your mother. Now that she’s gone, it naturally belongs to you.” Tristan perceived her surprise and chuckled. “Silly girl, Yates Corporation was a gift from your…” At the mention of Calista, a flicker of sadness appeared in Tristan’s eyes. Losing a child was a pain he could never truly move past.
He reached for her hand gently, concern evident in his expression. Something comforting, but he didn’t know how… He reassured her and smiled. “It’s alright. It’s been many years. As long as you’re happy, that’s enough for me.”
