Chapter 125
Verwee clapped enthusiastically. The audience eagerly awaited the pairings. Before Jenson and Suzanne could choose, Galch had already approached Sabrina. He took her hand, raised it, and announced with a smile, “I choose my sunshine.” They had a new drama coming out, and they were a couple in the show. Many fans shipped them; Caleb’s initiative caused quite a few to scream with excitement. With this pair decided, the other two had no choice but to team up.
Jenson maintained a composed smile as he stepped forward, intending to take Suzanne's hand. However, Suzanne subtly twisted her wrist, evading his grasp. Jenson ended up holding only her sleeve. While others may not have noticed, Jenson was acutely aware; Suzanne had done that deliberately. A flicker of darkness crossed Jenson's eyes. Did she truly dislike touching him that much? He maintained his warm and friendly smile, almost laughing silently to himself. Jenson had been snubbed! If the setting weren't so inappropriate, Shane would have wanted to announce it to the world.
However, Jenson's fans lacked such keen insight and were excitedly discussing: “Yeah, yeah, he truly deserves to be an award-winning actor. He’s so gentlemanly that he’s only holding Dr. Smith’s sleeve!” “Of course, Jenson’s upbringing is top-tier in the entertainment industry, alright?” Jenson was inwardly mortified. No wonder they were called mindless fans. His eyes were full of disdain. These people should donate their eyes if they couldn’t see the truth. Jenson? Gen? His upbringing was top-tier? Ugh!
In the C20’s office at Half Corporation, a large desk was cluttered with documents. The room was eerily quiet, only the sound of Austin flipping through papers breaking the silence. A knock sounded on the door, but Austin didn’t look up. “Come in.” Gabriel quickly entered, holding a stack of documents, which he placed on Austin’s desk. He respectfully said, “Mr. Hall, these are the documents you need to sign.”
Austin gave a nonchalant response, but Gabriel remained at the door, hesitant to leave. Austin glanced up, noticing his indecision. Seeing Austin’s impatient frown, Gabriel took a deep breath and said, “Mr. Hall, Mrs. Hall is participating in a TV program.” Austin’s piercing gaze fell on Gabriel; surprise was evident in his voice. “A TV program?” He hadn’t heard Suzanne mention anything about a TV program. Gabriel cleared his throat, mustering the courage to continue, “Mrs. Hall’s partner on the show is Jenson.”
Instantly, the office temperature plummeted. It felt as if countless icy blades scraped across Austin’s face. Austin’s hand, holding a document, tightened, crumpling the paper into a ball. Gabriel nervously swallowed, unsure of what to do. Austin abruptly stood up and said coldly, “The meeting scheduled for three hours from now is moved up to fifteen minutes from now!” Gabriel quickly responded, “Yes!” Austin was clearly angry. Without delay, Gabriel hurried from the office; fifteen minutes was incredibly tight.
Back at the set, the excitement continued. Fungo animatedly shouted, “Our two teams have already chosen their partners. The rules for the next challenge are simple—the team that lifts the most weight on this weightlifting machine wins!” It was less about the teams’ collective ability and more about the strength of the two men on each team. Sabrina tugged at Caleb’s sleeve, her eyes filled with worry. Leaning closer, she whispered, “What do you think? Are we going to win?” It was no secret in the industry that Jenson regularly worked out.
