Listen to this chapter:

Josie shook her head. โ€œI donโ€™t know, but I donโ€™t think Elliotโ€™s fainting spell was due to low blood sugar. There must be another reason. If only I could check on his condition!โ€

โ€œThat might not work!โ€ Sean said, looking frustrated.

Josie was slightly surprised. โ€œDid you already secretly check on his condition? Well, is there anything wrong with his health?โ€

โ€œNo!โ€ Sean shook his head. โ€œAt least from the perspective of traditional medicine, no symptoms have been found so far. We probably need to do other tests!โ€

If Elliot were so cooperative as to go to the hospital for examinations, they wouldnโ€™t have to secretly investigate him so painstakingly.

Josie looked frustrated.

โ€œAlright, donโ€™t look so sad. Iโ€™ll take care of Uncleโ€™s matter!โ€ Sean reached out and gently squeezed her face. โ€œSit tight. Iโ€™m taking you home!โ€

He leaned over to fasten her seatbelt, and as he pulled back, he placed a kiss on her cheek.

Josieโ€™s face quickly flushed crimson, and she turned her head, not daring to look at him.

She thought, โ€˜This is the second time. He truly does like me!โ€™

Josie was overjoyed. She couldnโ€™t suppress the smile on her lips.

Their gazes met through the car window. That fleeting spark made both their hearts flutter.

The smiles on both their faces were sweet.

As Josie happily returned to the Reedshaw family home, Jeremy also packed up, ready to leave work.

Digby walked past his office. โ€œJeremy, wanna grab a bite?โ€

โ€œNo, something came up at home. Iโ€™ll eat there!โ€ Jeremy waved his hand and walked out of the institute.

Digby shook his head. Everyone at the institute said Jeremy spoiled his wife. He only cared about her and always relied on her.

Digby also heard rumors that Jeremy was able to join the research institute because of the Reedshaw familyโ€™s connections years ago.

He achieved nothing over the years, showed no ambition to progress or climb the ranks, and spent all his time revolving around his wife.

It was precisely because of these rumors that Digby chose to join Audreyโ€™s team in the past.

However, things didnโ€™t go the way he wanted.

Digby soon realized his personal achievements were inexplicably attributed to the entire team.

After this happened a couple of times, he became dissatisfied and sought out Audrey, who, relying on her background and influence, suppressed his promotion approval and refused to sign it.

In the end, he didnโ€™t dare to make a fuss, and only then did he receive a promotion.

But compared to his peers, the position he finally got promoted to was nothing significant. These werenโ€™t even the most critical issues he had faced.

The most important thing was that he no longer wanted his personal achievements to be stolen by others.

Reaching middle age, he often had a strong feeling of unfulfilled potential. He desperately needed to achieve something to prove himself.

Jeremyโ€™s unexpected signing of the medical school project gave him hope.

He joined Jeremyโ€™s team without hesitation.

Initially, he was somewhat skeptical of Jeremy due to rumors. It wasnโ€™t until the first phase of the research concluded that he realized he was terribly wrong.

Digby realized that Jeremy was not incompetent. He was simply too humble.

His goals were never self-serving, and his devotion to his wife was rooted in his desire to advance overall medical standards.

He was a true and great medical researcher, and he genuinely loved his wife.

Digby felt he couldnโ€™t achieve what Jeremy did, but he wholeheartedly committed to this project, striving to make it a success.

However, he didnโ€™t expect to encounter challenges so early, during an intermediate experiment, and be outmaneuvered by a young girl.

Digby walked into the cafeteria with a complicated expression, still contemplating whether to repeat the experiment using Josieโ€™s formula, when he heard someone call his name.

โ€œDigby, upstairs, please.โ€ It was Audrey.

Her face was beaming, and she bowed slightly towards him. Though in her forties, she appeared no less charming than women in their twenties.

Seeing Digbyโ€™s indifference, Audrey added, โ€œProfessor Lawson has always spoken highly of you to me, saying heโ€™s long wanted to connect with you."

โ€œDigby, would you mind having a meal and a chat together?โ€
