Chapter 295

"Why should they have to go through another investigation just to humiliate us?"

"It's as if we have relied purely on luck to come up with this research method and obtain the patent, instead of relying on our own capability."

"They are just saying we don't measure up to their team."

Joseph refused to accept that.

"Hey, calm down!" Josie smiled at him as she pulled David and his groupโ€™s application documents from the directorโ€™s desk and stuffed them into his hand.

With just one glance, Joseph was delighted. He felt that this was truly interesting.

He said, "Investigate away. Mrs. Kinberg, you must look into this thoroughly. I also want to know whether these two research methods are exactly the same."

He emphasized the last few words, his gaze sweeping over the faces of Aiden and Gavin.

He thought, "Among these two elite members of Davidโ€™s team, which one is the thief?"

At this moment, David had already realized that something was amiss. He stood up and said, "There is nothing further to investigate. Congratulations, Professor Wilcourt. I hope your research will achieve even greater success. Aiden, letโ€™s go!"

Audrey, still puzzled, wanted to stop them, but after receiving a glare from David, she had no choice but to give up.

"David, you canโ€™t just leave like this!" Jeremy stood up and blocked his way. "Itโ€™s no longer a matter of whether you want to investigate or not. Now, we must investigate. We suspect that your personnel have stolen our research data. For the security of our research in the future, it is imperative that this matter be thoroughly investigated."

Davidโ€™s expression darkened. "That is impossible. We have no reason to steal your data. Your research focus is different from ours, so such an action would be meaningless for us."

"Is that really the case?" Josie gave a cold laugh. "Josephโ€™s project groupโ€™s preliminary fundamental research was clearly identical to yours. Moreover, their primary research direction is broader and fully encompasses your research topic, which gives you every reason to do this."

Her statement instantly rendered everyone silent. Surprisingly, she said this out loud.

David felt that she was too rude.

Jeremy pulled Josie behind him and said, "Sorry, she tends to speak bluntly, but you get the idea. For the sake of everyoneโ€™s innocence, we canโ€™t just pretend nothing happened. We need to investigate!"

Jeremy interrupted so quickly that he completely prevented any possibility of David becoming angry and scolding Josie.

David felt a breath stuck in his chest, unable to let it go. He thought, "Josie truly is impressive. In such a short time, her way with words has become so impressive. Werenโ€™t you always silent before? When did you become so talkative?"

Audrey had never endured such indignity. She said, "Go ahead and investigate, David. This matter cannot simply be dismissed. I refuse to believe that anyone on our team would need to steal their data!"

She rolled up her sleeves and said, "Director, assign a crew to me. Iโ€™ll conduct the investigation myself. If anyone dares to cause trouble in the research institute, I wonโ€™t let them get away with it!"

Josie was inwardly delighted. She thought, "Mrs. Kinberg certainly displays remarkable courage. However, it remains to be seen whether you can maintain such resolve once the results are announced."

Jeremy spoke slowly, "I am sorry, I do not trust you. Director, either you come and inspect personally, or you appoint someone to do it. Just to be clear, donโ€™t assign anyone close to her."

Audrey was on the verge of being driven mad with anger. "Jeremy, donโ€™t go too far!"

Jeremy had already left with his team, saying, "Director, I await news from you."

He left behind a carefree and stylish departing silhouette for all to see.

Upon returning to the office, Josie could no longer suppress her laughter. She seemed to have become less composed, but it was just so funny. She really couldnโ€™t hold it in.

When Joseph produced the certificate, David looked like he was about to die of anger. That image alone could keep her entertained for a whole month. She endured too much humiliation in the past. Now, she vowed to make them pay back all of it. She was absolutely thrilled to see them get put in their place.

Jeremy, with an amused expression, said, "Donโ€™t get too relaxed. This isnโ€™t a small matter. We still need to do an internal check and see how the information got out!"

Josie said, "I have a rough idea of what happened."
