Chapter 289

Joseph felt that anyone would appreciate a young woman who was well-behaved, motivated, intelligent, capable, kind, and grateful.

He believed that Ian was unlikely to succeed in pursuing Josie.

However, Josie was clearly not yet aware of her situation. Though Sean wished to pursue her, he wouldnโ€™t achieve it easily.

Joseph suddenly felt a bit like laughing.

As a result of this incident, he was no longer nervous when entering the study.

However, upon hearing Jeremyโ€™s proposal, he nearly lost control of his emotions.

He experienced a sudden sense of unexpected fortune that felt distinctly unreal.

News of Davidโ€™s student applying for a patent quickly spread and reached Xander and Kenneth.

Kenneth pointed to the text message on her mobile phone and explained it to Xander, โ€œThis is about the general outline I mentioned earlier.

โ€œI didnโ€™t expect that, in just a few days, they would have already validated the experimental method. David is indeed capable.โ€

Xander tapped his fingers on the tabletop and said, โ€œIf I remember correctly, even the fastest approval process takes at least three months.

โ€œGo and give them a hand. Make sure they get the patent done within one month.

โ€œIt is merely a research technique. As long as Jeremyโ€™s team is not completely incompetent, they could likely figure it out within three months.

โ€œWe must not give them any opportunity to put it into practice.โ€

A look of joy appeared on Kennethโ€™s face.

He said, โ€œSir, you are correct. I have heard that the two projects are inherently somewhat similar.

โ€œRegardless of which team achieves results, it is a fatal blow to the other team.

โ€œIn the less serious case, all of their efforts will be wasted. In more severe cases, even the project may be canceled.โ€

Xander smiled and said, โ€œYour thinking is overly simplistic. Do not forget that they still have Delilah on their side.

โ€œAs long as this research is linked to traditional medicine, it will not be so easy to halt. Unlessโ€ฆโ€

Although he did not finish his sentence, Kenneth already understood it.

The project would not be canceled unless a substantial amount of resources were invested and no results were achieved over a long period of time.

He thought, โ€˜But is this possible?

โ€˜Although I maintain a skeptical attitude toward research in traditional medicine, I do not dare to assert that such research is entirely without efficacy.

โ€˜The outcome will depend on how they proceed in the subsequent phase.

Kenneth suddenly made up her mind.

He said, โ€œPlease rest assured, Mr. Nelson. It wonโ€™t be easy for them to succeed. I will keep an eye on them at all times!โ€

Kenneth would never allow Xandrov to use this research as a stepping stone to rise in status.

He just hadnโ€™t expected that things didnโ€™t turn out the way he wanted.

After staying up all night, Jeremy could no longer continue. He said, โ€œThere is still some content left.

โ€œSean, please help them wrap things up. I canโ€™t hold on any longer and need to get some sleep.

As he stood up, he did not forget to pull Delilah to her feet as well. โ€œLeave it to Sean. Letโ€™s go.โ€

After the two had left, Joseph let out a long sigh of relief and said, โ€œJosie, pinch me now. Why does it feel as if Iโ€™m dreaming?โ€

Before entering the study, he was still envious that Josieโ€™s thesis had a preface written by Lonnard. Now, however, he felt no envy at all.

After all, his work had received a preface from Gale Reedshaw, who was Delilah Reedshawโ€™s mother.

Gale Reedshaw was actually Davidโ€™s teacher back in the day.

Sean raised his hand and punched Joseph, โ€œAre you sober now?โ€

Joseph clutched his aching shoulder. โ€œI am. Sean, do you work out much? You hit really hard!โ€

โ€œJoseph, are you fragile or something?โ€ Josie yawned.

Half an hour later, as he watched the sky grow light, Sean removed his glasses.

He said, โ€œBoth papers have no issues and can be published.โ€

After hearing what he said, both Josie and Joseph breathed a sigh of relief.

Joseph stood up and said, โ€œThen Iโ€™ll go back to school first. Itโ€™s been a long night. Thank you, Sean!โ€

โ€œYes.โ€ Sean stood up. โ€œLet me walk you out.โ€

Josie sprang to her feet. โ€œIโ€™ll see him off. You stay seated, Sean!โ€

She walked out of the Reedshaw family with Joseph.

Joseph turned his head and glanced at the Reedshaw family.

He said, โ€œJosie, thank you so much. Ever since you started drafting our competition proposals, it feels like our luck has turned for the better.

โ€œNow, weโ€™ve even had the chance to meet the Reedshaw familyโ€ฆโ€

โ€œGo back and thank Adeline. I helped you because she treated me well.โ€ Josie yawned. โ€œTreat Adeline well!โ€

Joseph didnโ€™t make a fuss, waved his hand, and left.

After returning, they all slept like the dead. Meanwhile, their late-night achievements had already caused a stir in the medical community.
