Chapter 286
Josie arrived at the research institute feeling at ease. As she was about to enter the project teamโs office, she saw David leading Gavin toward the directorโs office.
David said, โThis research methodology is highly worthy of promotion. Please compile the relevant materials and submit an application to the institute first, to facilitate the subsequent patent application.โ
Gavin nodded and said, โShould we inform Kyle? After all, it was his suggestion.โ
As the two walked away, Josieโs brow furrowed slightly. She thought, โWhat kind of research method could they be planning to patent?โ
Josie entered the office and said, โJoseph, how is the matter I reminded you about last time progressing?โ
Joseph looked up from his computer and glanced at her. โItโs done. Weโll probably receive a response in a few days.โ He asked, โHow is your thesis progressing? Do you require any assistance?โ
Josie shook her head. โThatโs not necessary. Iโll show it to you all once Iโve finished writing.โ
Throughout the afternoon, the only sound in the office was the tapping of fingers on keyboards. Josie was so absorbed in her writing that she did not notice the passage of time until the aroma of food reached her.
โYou must be hungry. The cafeteria has pulled pork today, so I got you a portion just for you. Eat up! Make sure youโre full before you get back to writing!โ Adeline pushed the meal in front of her, smiling.
Josie looked grateful. โThank you, Adeline. You are a lifesaver!โ She was about to starve to death.
Adeline pulled a chair over and sat down next to her before saying, โI am not that great. Let me ask you something. Do you think Professor Wilcourt would agree if we asked him to write a preface for our paper?โ
โWhy would he disagree? Isnโt he your teacher now?โ Josie was somewhat confused. She remembered that Joseph had completed his research institute internship under Jeremy. He and several members of his team had been assigned to Jeremyโs team. Once Josephโs thesis was completed, it was only natural for Jeremy to be asked to write the preface. In fact, the preface for her thesis was originally intended to be written by Delilah. Having Lonnard write the preface for her felt simply unreal.
Adeline wore an amused expression, knowing that questioning Josie would be futile since she regarded interpersonal relationships as too simple.
Adeline said, โAlthough our research has achieved some modest results, no one can predict what will happen next. Professor Wilcourt signed for our project, not for us as individuals, which makes me somewhat concerned.โ
โAdeline, you are overcomplicating the issue. As far as I know, if he did not think highly of you guys, he would never have agreed to let you join the team.โ Josie gestured for her to relax. She continued, "Focus wholeheartedly on your research and try not to be distracted by other matters. As long as we act with a clear conscience, everything that is meant to happen will come to pass. Rest assured, Professor Wilcourt would not scheme against you.โ
Adeline pursed her lips and said, โWeโve been here for almost a month, and we still havenโt completed the formal onboarding procedures. Our current status is actually quite awkward!โ
Josie furrowed her brows. She had not expected that the research institute had yet to arrange internship onboarding for everyone. She thought, โIs it an oversight on Jeremyโs part, or is someone deliberately interfering?โ
She stood up: โIโll go ask!โ
Josie was different from the others. Her internship appointment was with Aloville Traditional Medicine Hospital, which was unrelated to the research institute.
Seeing her stand up and prepare to rush out, Adeline hurriedly wanted to stop her. However, it was already too late. Josie had pulled open the door in one swift motion. However, she ultimately failed to rush out, as someone outside the door blocked her way.
โWhy is it you?โ Hadley Rogers frowned, displeased. She asked, โWhere are Joseph and the others? Have them collect the temporary work badges and come to my office to exchange them for official internship badges.
