Chapter 284

โ€œHow dare he!โ€ Kenneth, enraged, turned to knock on the door, but was abruptly pulled back by Xander.

โ€œAre you not ashamed yet?โ€ Xander, tugging Kenneth, got into the car. He said, โ€œThe Longley family is, after all, a distinguished medical family. How dare you mock Xandrov to his face? How many times have I told you to restrain your temper?โ€

โ€œI just canโ€™t stand it!โ€ Kenneth was upset. โ€œPlease donโ€™t worry. Now that you are director, no matter how powerful the Longley family is, they canโ€™t do anything to you! Xandrov is even more of a fool. Without Lonnard, he would be nothing. After Lonnard retired, he found a pretext to run off to the research institute. Wasnโ€™t it just to gild his own reputation? However, has he considered that if his research comes to a standstill and he is unable to achieve any significant results, is it truly possible for him to remain there for a lifetime?โ€

Kenneth had been waiting for Xandrov to be kicked out. When that happened, the directorโ€™s position would be his.

A trace of impatience flickered in Xanderโ€™s eyes as he said, โ€œSetting aside their research for now, I asked you to follow up with David. How is it going now? Itโ€™s already been two months, and there are still no results.โ€

Kenneth shook his head. โ€œI heard thereโ€™s only a general outline so far, proposed by one of Davidโ€™s students. I took a look. The content is pretty good. I guess weโ€™ll hear some good news soon!โ€

Xander closed his eyes slightly, concealing the calculation that filled his eyes. He said, โ€œKeep a close watch. Once there are results, donโ€™t be stingy with resources. The higher David stands, the more beneficial it is for us.โ€

At the Longley family.

Delilah put away the needle and said, โ€œAfterwards, we wonโ€™t need to come so often. Two or three times a month will be enough. If you trust me, I can prescribe some herbal tonic for you.โ€

โ€œI trust you. Just go ahead and do it.โ€ Lonnard waved his hand. โ€œAre you not coming next time and just letting this girl come by herself?โ€

Delilah smiled and nodded. โ€œI am thinking that. She has learned most of what she needs, and this simple technique shouldnโ€™t be a problem for her. If you feel comfortable, you can let her try.โ€

โ€œDonโ€™t worry. We should always give young people some opportunities. At my age, I donโ€™t mind letting her try her hand.โ€ Lonnard smiled kindly.

Josie pursed her lips and said, โ€œSir, Iโ€™m not using you for practice. Iโ€™ve practiced this needle technique thoroughly and am now quite skilled. I promise you wonโ€™t feel any pain!โ€

โ€œVery good. Josie, you are truly remarkable. You are ready to set out on your own!โ€ Lonnard took her hand and patted it, his face full of affection.

Josie turned around and hugged Delilahโ€™s arm. โ€œThat still will not do. I am far from completing my training.โ€

โ€œDonโ€™t be cheeky. Stand up straight!โ€ Delilah raised her hand and tapped her on the forehead. โ€œTake out your thesis and show it to him!โ€

Josieโ€™s paper was still only an outline. After discussing with Joseph and others last night, the basic direction and outline were established, but she hasnโ€™t had time to write it in detail yet.

โ€œItโ€™s still just an outline. Iโ€™m afraid itโ€™s not ready to be shown.โ€ Josie pursed her lips.

Nevertheless, she took out her laptop, handwritten notebook, and the minutes from their discussion, all at once. She was afraid that Delilah would scold her for being lazy since it had been a day and she still hadnโ€™t started writing.

Delilah took her meeting notes and asked, โ€œAfter discussing with Joseph, have you decided to write separately or to collaborate on the writing?โ€

โ€œWe want to combine them.โ€ Josie did not hesitate at all. She said, โ€œWe conduct an integrated research project, although individual sub-projects differ, the final outcomes are consistent. Rigorous data correlation among the sub-projects is essential to support the overall research findings.โ€

Lonnard took the notebook from Delilah. He said, โ€œLet me take a look.โ€

When Xandrov entered, Lonnard was reviewing Josieโ€™s thesis outline. Lonnard said, โ€œYoung lady, this is not bad at all. Your reasoning is very clear. I think your thesis is going to cause a sensation!โ€

Delilah smiled. โ€œIf Mr. Longley is willing to write a preface for her, it will certainly cause a sensation.โ€

He chuckled. โ€œSo this is what you wanted! I can write the preface, but I canโ€™t write it for free. I have a condition!โ€

Delilah raised her eyebrow and said, โ€œSir, please feel free to speak.โ€
