Chapter 255: E55 Vouchers
Josie Pearson looked at Lindsey Clem with a puzzled expression. โThen whatโs this monetary gift for?โ
She couldnโt simply accept any random cash gift without a good reason, after all.
โThis is your commission,โ Lindsey explained with a smile. โAs you are aware, I am running a business. Whenever any of our companyโs employees introduce a client to the company and a deal is successfully concluded, they get to receive a commission. The supplier you introduced helped me make a lot of money, and itโs not just this one deal. From what I understand, Sven wants to establish a collaboration with me to break into the domestic market. This is quite a big business deal for me! So donโt you think I should pay you a decent commission?โ
Josie could understand Lindseyโs good intentions, but she could not bring herself to accept the money. After all, in her previous life, Lindsey would eventually still come into contact with Sven without her, even though it took a longer time. It occurred approximately three to four months later. She remembered that the equipment arrived in the summer.
โLindsey, youโre treating me like an outsider by saying that. For me, this is just a small favor. Besides, I have my own motives for doing this, so I donโt feel good about accepting this money. I donโt want it,โ Josie demurred.
โYou silly child, why are you so stubborn?โ Lindsey was starting to look displeased.
Josie quickly grasped Lindseyโs hand and blurted out, โLindsey, if you truly wish to thank me, can you do me a favor?โ
โA favor? Go on.โ The envelope in Lindseyโs hand paused in mid-air.
Over the past two days, Josie heard from Zoey Harding that Colby Clemโs company had not secured any investment. It was not known whether this was because he couldnโt bring himself to approach Lindsey, or because Lindsey did not intend to invest in his business.
โCan you pump some money into Colbyโs business?โ Josie pleaded with a pitiful expression. โColby is working with us, and we will be relying on his nanobots. His research is proceeding in parallel with ours. Without funding, he will not be able to keep pace with our progress.โ Josieโs woebegone expression was almost heartbreaking.
That expression caused Lindsey to burst into laughter. โMy word! Here I was wondering what you were up to. So itโs about Colby. Heโs my nephew. Of course Iโll help him! In that case, how can that count as a favor, you silly girl?โ
Lindsey gestured with the envelope in her hand and added, โIf you donโt want it, thatโs fine. Weโve got plenty of opportunities to cross paths in the future. Youโve got character, my child. I like that.โ
She then playfully pinched Josieโs cheek before whipping out her phone. โGive me your contact number. You can come to me anytime you need my help in the future.โ
โWhy do all these people like to pinch my face? Itโs driving me nuts!โ Josie grumbled inwardly. Nonetheless, she still took out her phone.
โYou donโt have to worry about Colby. The funding for him will be transferred soon. I will definitely support my own nephewโs business,โ Lindsey reassured Josie.
Now that Lindsey had given her word, Josie was delighted. She cheerfully bid Lindsey farewell and got into the car with Sean Reedshaw before heading back to his place.
In contrast, Jaden Monroe was not faring nearly as well.
He had just returned home, and the moment he stepped inside, he heard his fatherโs furious roar, โTell that damn brat to bring his ass here! He is incapable of accomplishing anything but excels at causing trouble! He canโt even handle such a small task himself and had to make use of the Jiznev family! Is there something wrong with his head?โ
As soon as Jaden heard this, he swore, โDammit! I have to flee!โ
However, it was already too late. His father looked up and caught sight of Jaden just as he was taking off his shoes.
Jaden flinched in fright, then quickly flashed a shaky smile. โDadโฆโ
Before he could utter another word, the vase on the coffee table came flying toward him.
Jaden instinctively dodged. The vase struck the door behind him, shattered into pieces, and the fragments fell all over his back.
Thankfully, he was wearing his thick winter coat and wasnโt hurt by the debris. Jaden let out a sigh of relief.
However, in the next second, his father had already rushed up and seized him by the ear.
