Delilah hesitated slightly. "However, as far as I know, there is no traditional medicine outpatient department in your hospital. In addition, Dr. Markey, in what capacity do you intend to collaborate with me?"
"Currently, traditional medicine has a contract with the Central Research Institute, plus the National Hospital. At most, itโs joint research. What about your hospital?"
Jannik was somewhat troubled.
He said, "I will negotiate with the hospital regarding joint research. If that proves unsuccessful, I will resign and join your research team as an individual. Would this arrangement be acceptable?"
He adopted an exceptionally humble attitude, which took Josie by surprise. Compared to the attitudes of Xander and Kenneth, the difference was like heaven and earth.
"That is unnecessary," Delilah said, waving her hand. "Itโs hard to say what the outcome of our research will be. After all, weโve chosen a niche field. On top of that, acupuncture works slowly and requires a long research cycle."
"Iโm afraid that, compared to other research teams, neither the speed of publication nor the final research achievements is likely to bring any honor to you, Dr. Markey."
Jannik hurriedly spoke up, "I am not doing this for honor. If I were after honor, why would I choose to be a doctor? Wouldnโt it be better for me to devote myself entirely to research? My only goal is to treat patients, save lives, and solve more medical problems."
What a benevolent doctor! Compared to Davidโs selfishness, Josie looked at Jannik with newfound respect in her eyes.
"Alright then, Dr. Markey, you are welcome to join the group at any time," said Delilah.
The matter was thus settled. Without further delay, Delilah and Josie made an appointment for the next consultation. Then they left the hospital.
Chapter 246
Just before they left the hospital, David and Audrey blocked Xander and Kenneth, who were leaving, at the hospital entrance!
Upon seeing David and Audrey, Kenneth found an outlet for his otherwise unexpressed anger:
"You two arenโt exactly young anymore. Canโt you understand what Iโm saying? Iโve told you, Mr. Nelsonโฆ"
"Kenneth!" Xander cast a glance at Kenneth, signaling him to be quiet.
"Please donโt take offense. Weโve just obtained a substantial amount of information from Mr. Longley. Our time is tight, and Kenneth doesnโt want to waste any. However, since you both are so persistent, letโs have a chat."
A look of joy appeared on the faces of David and Audrey. They followed Xander and Kenneth and got into the car!
After stepping out of the car, David shed his earlier gloom and appeared refreshed and invigorated. He remarked, "With Mr. Nelsonโs support, thereโs no way my research wonโt succeed."
"Indeed. I truly didnโt expect Mr. Nelson would agree to provide us with technical support and even be willing to lend us a research team," Audrey was also especially surprised.
Clearly, Xander and Kennethโs attitude was firm earlier, but it has completely changed in just over an hour. Could it be that Lonnard made them change their minds?
"However, David, have you considered why? Could it be that they changed their attitude because theyโre interested in your research?" Audrey suddenly grew concerned again.
She was afraid Lonnard intended to snatch away Davidโs research achievements.
David waved his hand and shook his head. "Thatโs impossible, I guessโฆ"
He lowered his voice to a whisper, "It was Mr. Longley who decided to retire, and Mr. Nelson is going to be the new director!"
Chapter 246
David knew it would be his day to shine once Xander rose to power. Sooner or later, all his newly submitted project proposals would be approved.
Xanderโs earlier refusal was merely a pretense, made out of consideration for Lonnardโs reputation.
โDelilah wants to take me on? Not a chance. And Josie, who thinks sheโs all grown up now! Wait and see how I will clip her wings,โ thought David.
Upon seeing the proud expression on Davidโs face, Audrey also felt at ease. With the Longley family finally beginning to decline, the Kinberg family at last had a chance to rise.
It was just thatโฆ
Audrey grabbed David.
"David, securing the research instituteโs venue was thanks to Natalie. You know your teamโs project received the Third Prize, and the director has been a bit unhappy about it."
"I have been maneuvering around Jeremy to prevent the director from directly allocating the venue to him. Now that we have secured a newly leased venue, the project can finally proceed normally. So, do you think Natalie can join the team?"
