Chapter 182

โ€œIโ€™m sure Iโ€™ll pass the exam. I definitely wonโ€™t cry!โ€ Josie pouted and turned, then ran back to the dormitory. Upon entering, she was immediately surrounded by three roommates.

โ€œJosie, why have you only just returned? The school has issued an announcement. Now, all the teachers and students know that you were falsely accused. Do you remember the girl who insulted you before? She was publicly criticized and has received a demerit!โ€ Allison, visibly excited, was telling her about the schoolโ€™s decision on how to handle the matter.

โ€œI heard that Kyle may be advised to withdraw, but Iโ€™m not sure if itโ€™s true,โ€ Adeline frowned and asked, โ€œDo you think Professor David will intercede for him?โ€

Josie shook her head. โ€œBased on my understanding, Professor David is highly unlikely to interfere with Kyleโ€™s matter.โ€

David was highly concerned with maintaining his reputation. Outwardly, he appeared intolerant of even the slightest imperfection, but in reality, he was unwilling to lose his dazzling achievements.

If someone tried to tarnish his reputation, he would immediately distance himself from that person. Most likely, he might proactively request that the Department of Student Affairs persuade Kyle to withdraw.

After all, the issue with the thesis had already made him aware that Kyle was not competent enough. Adding the slander incident, it further proved that his character was awful.

If Kyle remained a student at university, even for a single day, people would likely start whispering behind his back. โ€œLook, that person was once Davidโ€™s student. See what has become of himโ€ฆโ€

Over time, Davidโ€™s reputation would inevitably be affected. He would not allow such hidden dangers to continue to remain by his side.

โ€œI heard from Colby that the Department of Student Affairs is still investigating Kyle. The person who sent text messages to students has not been identified yet. Otherwise, the outcome would have been announced.โ€

Zoey looked at Josie. โ€œJosie, do you want me to help you talk to Colby about the text message? He has a few friends in telecommunications; maybe they can find out about it.โ€

โ€œThatโ€™s not necessary!โ€ Josie shook her head. โ€œI know who it is. But even if the investigation continues, itโ€™s very likely that it still wonโ€™t lead to her. At most, weโ€™ll only catch her scapegoats.โ€

โ€œIsnโ€™t the main suspect here Kyle?โ€ Allison and Adeline both looked puzzled.

Josie shook her head. โ€œIt wasnโ€™t him. He could never have formulated such a smart approach. My best guess? Natalie Kinberg is behind this. It is her customary method.โ€

Noticing that everyone still wished to ask further questions, Josie promptly brought out the small pastries she was holding. โ€œThank you all for your help today. I bought these on my way back. Please, try them and see if you like them.โ€

โ€œOh, come on, weโ€™re all sisters living under the same roof. Why are you being so formal?โ€ Allison said, throwing her a teasing wink as she snatched the bag of pastries away.

The following day marked the first examination in the acupuncture major. Josie stayed up until midnight to make up for the study time she had lost that afternoon.

Just after seven oโ€™clock, Zoey woke her up. โ€œYour alarm has gone off twice already. Hurry up, or youโ€™ll miss the exam!โ€

โ€œOh, God!โ€ Josie clambered to her feet with a smile. She set her alarm three times, and one of them had yet to go off.

It was her first examination in acupuncture, and she was taking it together with a group of freshmen. Under no circumstances could she afford to make mistakes or bring embarrassment to Delilah.

As Josie left the dormitory, snow began to fall from the sky. This was the first snowfall since her revival. Josie lifted her head, allowing the cold snowflakes to fall upon her face. Although it was distinctly chilly, she did not feel cold.

In the past, she hated it when it snowed, because snowy days meant cold weather and slippery roads. Not only did she lack suitable clothing, but it also affected her ability to go to the laboratory.

When she walked too quickly, she fell, and her clothes got wet, leaving her embarrassed and in a sorry state. If she happened to run into Aiden and his peers, they would even scold her for being too clumsy, saying she didnโ€™t even know how to walk.

โ€œJosie!โ€ A voice pulled Josie back from her thoughts. She looked up and saw David standing before her.
