Claire’s question once again left Josie at a loss for words. She certainly could not admit that she knew the individuals who had kidnapped her, nor could she reveal that those people were connected to Natalie.

Josie’s eyelashes trembled slightly as her gaze dropped. “It’s simple. I’ve only met a few people in Aloville, and I haven’t offended anyone at school. The only person I’ve had a conflict with is Natalie.

“Furthermore, I questioned the kidnappers, and it was clear they were acting under someone’s instructions. Although the police identified Mr. Sandoval as the mastermind behind the kidnapping, I do not accept the explanation he gave.

“He’s been running the entertainment club for many years, so when has he ever risked openly kidnapping someone just for a young girl? If he really wanted me to join him for drinks, there are plenty of ways he could make that happen–there’s no need for him to break the law in public, right?”

Claire thought for a moment. “That’s true; unfortunately, since the police haven’t found any evidence, they can’t charge the Kinberg family mother and daughter. This means it’s likely they’ll come after you again.”

“I’m not afraid!” Josie said calmly. Based on her previous experience, after the five people who kidnapped her were caught, there was no one left to carry out Audrey’s schemes.

Moreover, Audrey had been highly protective of her reputation. While her methods were often unscrupulous, she mainly relied on psychological manipulation and carefully planned schemes to lead others into her traps, rarely resorting to open acts of violence.

“What they’re really looking for is a top-tier team led by a distinguished professor in a popular field. Now that Natalie has achieved this, her next step is to establish herself within the team and aim for further growth. Since I’m no longer with the team, I’m not standing in her way. Josie offered a faint, sarcastic smile. “Claire, I’m afraid things won’t be easy for Natalie in the days ahead.”

Claire let out a sigh of relief. “So you really do know everything. No wonder you spoke so frankly to Audrey. I had thought you were unaware and was even a bit worried about you. Now that I think about it, that mother and daughter really aren’t good people. It’s probably best if Natalie doesn’t have things too easy right now, or she might cause even more trouble.

“However, since you know these matters are related to them, be careful not to overlook anything. Well, about Audrey, let me put it this way: my dad works in the same place as she does, and in many situations, he really can’t compare to her. Otherwise, how else would she have become deputy director without any notable accomplishments?
