Chapter 380: Saving Carlos
Christopher mused, "This girl is quite clever." Meanwhile, Alexander basked in his wife's adoring gaze.
Under the cover of night, everyone quickly arrived at the rehearsal building and headed to a third-floor room. Numerous students were on the road, and the recent ambulance incident had sparked much discussion.
"I heard someone committed suicide," one student said. "No, I heard someone was drugged," another countered. "It was Penelope Watson, the genius who debuted today," a third chimed in. "Jealousy or revenge?" someone speculated. "Or maybe trouble with a sugar daddy?" another suggested. "Impossible! Her teacher, Carlos, is a big shot. No one would cross him," someone argued. "Mr. Carlos arrived early. Did he know something happened to Penelope?"
The conflicting accounts were confusing. Isabella, however, understood the situation perfectly. She realized Penelope, having woken to find herself bleeding from a wrist cut, lacked the strength to get help. Fear had overcome her, leading to the ambulance call and the subsequent commotion. Isabella judged Penelope's actions as self-inflicted.
Reaching the designated room, Christopher nervously knocked, perhaps fearing what he might find. Isabella, however, felt a mixture of excitement and curiosity, particularly about Sylvie's eventual encounter with Christopher. Such events, she knew, were never accidental.
The room was silent. Sarah, worried about her brother, burst in to find Carlos unconscious against the wall. His clothes were disheveled but intact. Surprisingly, he was alone.
Everyone else looked around, finding the room empty except for Carlos. Christopher wondered, "Is Sylvie watching from the next room? Is she trying to hide what happened between her and Carlos? Why? Isn't she secretly in love with him? Shouldn't she seize this opportunity instead of hiding?"
Alexander, without overthinking, assessed Carlos and suggested taking him to the hospital. Sarah recalled the rumors, raising unsettling suspicions. To avoid notice, Alexander and Christopher, feigning drunkenness, discreetly carried Carlos out of the university.
Isabella thought, She stopped spying the moment we left. She's worried about Carlos but won't show herself. There was no struggle. If Carlos had been rational, and Sylvie had a choice, things wouldn't have happened this way. Even as his secret admirer, she's not like Penelope. She wouldn't want to win him this way. She probably feels guilty about taking advantage of his vulnerability. This makes Penelope look even worse. But if Carlos remembers, Isabella continued, this isn't over.
Christopher and Alexander wondered if Carlos would remember anything and how he would react.
Soon, Carlos was at the Quirk family's private hospital. After an injection, he quickly awoke, sat up, cradled his head, and looked confused.
"How are you feeling, Carlos?" Sarah asked.
Seeing Alexander, Carlos sighed in relief. "I reached you. I was worried I hadn't."
The others looked troubled. Isabella felt conflicted. One party had amnesia, the other wanted to remain hidden. What should I do? If they're behaving this way, I should probably do nothing, right?
