Chapter 321: Secret Exposed
Yvonne pointed at Ines, sobbing. "Ms. Deleon accidentally pushed me, causing me to lose my child. It wasn't intentional; it was my child, too!"
The revelation of Yvonne's miscarriage, followed by the accusation against Ralph's future daughter-in-law, stunned everyone. Could this be another power struggle within the wealthy family? The ensuing gossip was explosive.
Confusion reigned. Secretly, everyone marveled at the drama the "Gossip Queen" had created.
Caesar and Gloria, Ines's parents, reacted immediately. Their daughter had been unexpectedly drawn into the Burke family's chaos. Only Aiden's kindness toward Ines prevented complete estrangement between the Deleon and Burke families. They rushed to Ines's side, protectively standing beside her.
"Nonsense! Ines couldn't have pushed you!"
But Ines's pallor betrayed her distress. Although the child wasn't Aiden's, she felt responsible for its loss. The public accusation intensified her distress. Aiden's face darkened. He recognized Yvonne's manipulation; she was using Ines as a shield. He needed a solution.
Isabella, anxious, was reassured by a whispered, "Don't worry, leave it to Aiden. He'll protect his wife." Relief washed over her.
The small group remained anxious and uncertain how to help as Yvonne continued her accusations, addressing Caesar and Gloria. "I know Ms. Deleon didn't do it intentionallyโit was an accident. But because of her, I lost my child, and now I'm being smeared. Boohoo"
If Yvonne's claim were true, she was in serious trouble.
Before Polly could refute the accusation, Ralph asked Ines, "Did you do it?"
Tension gripped the Deleon family. Before they could respond, Aiden's cold voice cut through the air. "Don't dare tarnish my wife with your lies. My investigation revealed your child was non-viable, even before the incident. Whether Ines accidentally touched you or not, the child wouldn't have survived. Therefore, I suspect you deliberately framed Ines."
Unbeknownst to Yvonne, Alexander had already shared his suspicions with Aiden, prompting an investigation. Aiden was using a calculated scare tactic. Yvonne's secrecy had been her undoing. She'd used different hospitals for checkups, excluding those affiliated with the Burke family, and even assumed a false identity for the final fetal examination. Polly's earlier actions had compromised her anonymity.
Aiden's conviction led Yvonne to believe he knew the truth. Her eyes flared, filled with disbelief. But Aiden, embracing Ines, showed his unwavering support.
Consuming jealousy and betrayal overwhelmed Yvonne. She couldn't understand Aiden's actions. The child, after all, was his. How could he do this to her?
