Chapter 663

Half an hour later, Sebastian personally drove Stephanie to Lorenzoโ€™s villa. As soon as the car stopped, she tried to rush out, but he grabbed her arm. โ€œSlow down,โ€ he said. Stephanie was ready to jump out the second they pulled up. Ever since he found out Lorenzo called Stephanie about Ella, Sebastian had been a little ticked off. โ€œI am going slow,โ€ Stephanie muttered. She knew he was just worried about the baby, and of course, she was too. Sebastian got out with her and followed her into the villa.

Inside, a doctor was talking to Lorenzo. As they walked up, it was clear they meant Ella. โ€œHer emotions were way too up and down, and her body couldnโ€™t handle it. Keep an eye on her fever and make sure it doesnโ€™t get worse,โ€ the doctor said. โ€œAnd with her existing injuries, they need proper care. We canโ€™t risk any infection.โ€

Lorenzo didnโ€™t look good. Bernard and Cecil were with him. When they heard Ella was hurt, they both shot him a confused look. They had no idea she got injured. When they followed Lorenzo through dangerous situations before, he always kept her safe. Plus, his villa was supposed to be the safest place around, so they were both wondering how she got hurt.

When Sebastian walked in, Bernard and Cecil froze for a second. But once they saw Stephanie with him, it all made sense. Sebastian rarely showed up anywhere, but if Stephanie was there, he was bound to follow. Lorenzo glanced at Stephanie, then told Chloe, โ€œTake Ms. Giovanni to the room.โ€ Stephanie was about to ask something about Ella, but when she noticed the tourniquet on Lorenzoโ€™s arm, she held back. She figured Ella probably got hurt during the time sheโ€™d been with Lorenzo. Poor girl. Back in Long Harbor, Ella had never been through anything like this. She was probably scared out of her mind, especially now that she was hurt. Honestly, the fact that Ella didnโ€™t break down showed how strong she really was. โ€œGot it,โ€ Chloe said with a nod. There werenโ€™t many staff in the villa to begin with, and now Ella was sick.

Stephanie went upstairs. Sebastian sat down on the couch, and Lorenzo sat across from him. Sebastian lit a cigarette. He noticed the marks on Lorenzoโ€™s neck, took a drag, and asked, โ€œWerenโ€™t you supposed to keep her out of this?โ€ Since Ella came to Fiorenza, everything had gone through Stephanie. Usually, that wouldnโ€™t bother him, but now was different. Stephanie was pregnant, and on top of that, some people in Fiorenza were starting to act shady. Open threats were one thing, but it was the sneaky ones that were dangerous.

Lorenzo got what he meant. โ€œI know. Itโ€™s justโ€ฆ this time was different.โ€ โ€œHow?โ€ Sebastian asked. Lorenzo said, โ€œSomethingโ€™s off with the Dark Portal. Andrea wonโ€™t see her daughter.โ€ Sebastian squinted slightly. The Dark Portal wasnโ€™t tied to them before, but now things were getting murky, especially with Richard and Finn, the second-in-command, being involved. Sebastian gave Lorenzo a look. โ€œSo what are you planning to do?โ€ โ€œStill figuring it out,โ€ Lorenzo replied. โ€œAt this point, itโ€™s starting to look like whatโ€™s going on with the Dark Portal actually has a lot to do with you,โ€ Sebastian said, voice low and serious.

Lorenzo paused. Sebastian could tell. Lorenzoโ€™s feelings for Ella hadnโ€™t been simple since their time in Long Harbor. โ€œIf Andrea doesnโ€™t want to see her daughter, maybe itโ€™s time for you to pay your future mother-in-law a visit,โ€ Sebastian added, looking right at him. That hit home for Lorenzo. โ€œIโ€™ll go see her soon, and while Iโ€™m at it, Iโ€™ll dig into everything sheโ€™s done over the years as the one running the Dark Portal.โ€ โ€œGood,โ€ Sebastian nodded. The Dark Portal and they had always kept to themselves, but recently, the Dark Portalโ€™s actions were more complicated. Since the current leader was being so ungrateful, they might need to consider finding someone who knew how to handle things better. As for his relationship with Ella, it was purely coincidental. When he first met her and saw her interesting side, no one had any idea about her connection to the Dark Portal. After all, sheโ€™d grown up in a peaceful place like Long Harbor.

Sebastian put out his cigarette and said, โ€œThe Dark Portalโ€™s situation is a mess. Right now, Andreaโ€™s probably most concerned about her daughter, or she wouldnโ€™t avoid her like this.โ€ Hearing that, Lorenzoโ€™s expression darkened.

Meanwhile, Stephanie was taken to Ellaโ€™s room, where the curtains were open and the light was good. Chloe left her there and went away. When Stephanie walked in, she saw a lump under the blanket. โ€œElla?โ€ she called. Ella quickly threw off the blanket and sat up. โ€œStefi,โ€ she said, her voice already choked with tears. Stephanie was taken aback. โ€œWhy are you crying?โ€ she asked. Sitting next to Ella, Stephanie pulled her into a hug. Ella had been through a lot lately. Back in Long Harbor, she had been carefree, but nowโ€ฆ โ€œStefi, my mom doesnโ€™t want to see me,โ€ Ella said, fighting back sobs. โ€œHow could she not?โ€ Stephanie asked.
