Sebastian adjusted his glasses. The affectionate look he gave Stephanie was gone, replaced by a serious expression as he addressed Sofia, “Keep that in mind.”
Sofia froze. This was hard to handle because she always thought of Stephanie as her little sister. “Stefi, you’re still my sister,” she insisted, struggling with the idea that Stephanie was becoming her sister-in-law.
Stephanie’s lips twitched as Sebastian looked at Sofia, who felt a rush of pressure under his gaze. Stephanie said, “I agree with Sofia.”
Sebastian affectionately pinched Stephanie’s cheek. “From now on, Sofia is your sister-in-law.”
Stephanie was caught off guard.
Sofia was shocked. “Is he serious?”
Sebastian raised an eyebrow. Feeling embarrassed, Sofia finally managed to say, “I will treat Stephanie as my sister-in-law.” It felt like her whole world was upside down.
Sofia had been worried about Stephanie. Stephanie was fragile, and if she married the wrong person, she would be mistreated. When Sofia learned that Stephanie would marry Sebastian, she felt relieved. The only problem was that being forced to treat Stephanie as her sister-in-law made everything feel overwhelming.
Sofia said, “Why are you just staring at me? Say something.”
Stephanie blinked at her.
“From now on, you are my sister-in-law,” Sofia reminded her.
Stephanie’s eyes went wide. The room felt tense. Sofia looked at Sebastian, lost for words. Thankfully, Sebastian nodded in satisfaction. “You’ll have to get used to this.”
Both Sofia and Stephanie were still in shock. Just then, Sebastian’s phone rang, breaking the awkward moment. He ruffled Stephanie’s hair playfully and said, “I need to take this call.”
“Okay,” she replied.
Before stepping away, Sebastian turned back to her and said, “No more snacking.”
Stephanie blinked. She had been so caught up in the weirdness that she forgot about the food.
Sofia quickly instructed the maid to take away the food. Once Sebastian left, Sofia leaned in closer to Stephanie. “So, how does it feel?”
“What do you mean?” Stephanie replied, confused.
Sofia asked, “When you think of me as your sister-in-law, how does it make you feel?”
Stephanie thought for a moment. “It feels weird.”
“Exactly. I think it’s strange too. How can Sebastian ask us to do that? It’s baffling.” Sofia insisted, “When he’s not around, I’m still your sister.”
Stephanie nodded. “You’ll always be my sister.”
Feeling the pressure from Sebastian ease a bit, Sofia was relieved. Then, her phone rang. It was Richard. Sofia rolled her eyes and hung up.
But then, a message from Richard appeared: [I’ll be at the door in five minutes. Come out.]
Sofia fumed, “What a commanding person.”
Stephanie raised an eyebrow. “How did your big fight end?”
Sofia sighed, “It ended in a bigger fight.”
Stephanie was surprised. “That sounds tough. Who won?”
Stephanie’s main concern was whether Sofia could defeat Richard. To be blunt, as long as Sofia wasn’t at a disadvantage, it didn’t matter how it turned out.
Sofia said, “It ended in a stalemate.” She gritted her teeth.
Stephanie’s eyes widened. She thought, ‘So it only ended in a stalemate? Richard is tough to deal with.’
Sofia’s phone rang again. She was furious. “Stay here; I’ll go deal with him.”
Sofia stormed off. Stephanie sighed, about to follow when her phone rang. It was Ella. “Stefi, I need your help, I want to see my mom.”
Stephanie said, “I’ve talked to Sebastian; he’ll help.”
Stephanie definitely cared about Ella’s situation. Not only did she talk to Sebastian, but she also kept an eye on things from time to time.
Ella sounded tired. “I know; he already helped.”
Stephanie was impressed. “That was quick. How did he help?”
“He left it to Lorenzo,” Ella replied.
Stephanie was shocked. “Lorenzo? That’s great. If Lorenzo is on it, you’ll see Andrea soon.” Sebastian had always entrusted important tasks to Lorenzo, which proved how much he cared about Ella’s situation.
