Chapter 608

Sofia and Richard had another fight in the car just now. The more Sofia thought about it, the less she could get over it. But when she asked Richard why, he wouldn’t say anything. They said it was agreed upon by her mother and brother. Come on, it was Sofia doing all the helping, wasn’t it? And Sofia thought Richard could probably do the same thing now.

Richard listened to her lousy idea, snorted with a laugh, and said, “I’m broke.”

Sofia thought, ‘Is that even a proper thing to say? Can he even say something like that?’

Before she could say anything, Richard continued, “Do you think women are cheap these days? You won’t get anywhere without a few million.”

Sofia was shocked. “Wasn’t it a few hundred thousand?”

“Do you think it’s still five years ago?” he sneered.

Sofia wondered, ‘Yeah, that makes sense. Remember that guy? He spent 1.5 million dollars just to have an empty marriage with some woman for three years. And what happened? She refused to get divorced and even ran off pregnant! The whole “in name only” thing totally backfired—no wasted money there. But who knows what kind of pedestal they put that unattainable girl on in their hearts?’

She asked, “Seriously, are you telling me you’re broke now, not even a few million left? You used to be a Casalini after all.”

Although he had nothing to do with them now, when he completely severed ties with the Casalini family, he took away quite a bit. He made sure to get every cent that belonged to his mother, and even took a large part of the company too.

“Spent it all, okay?” he retorted.

Sofia thought, ‘Okay, if you say so, but why doesn’t that sound believable?’

She was aware of what Richard had built up in Paginara over a few years. Sure, he knew how to spend, but he was definitely good at making money too. But since he said that, Sofia chose to just ignore him.

Seeing she wasn’t speaking anymore, Richard chuckled, “What? Worried you’ll be broke if you stick with me? Let me tell you, yeah, I’m poor right now, but Dan is even poorer—so poor he’s trading his marriage for resources.”

Sofia thought, ‘I mean, being poor is one thing, and no one’s going to look down on you for it. But dragging others into your poverty, seriously, is that really okay?’

She replied, “It has nothing to do with me; it doesn’t affect me at all.”

Richard smiled, “Oh?”

Sofia said, “To put it bluntly, you handle your poverty, and I’ll enjoy my wealth. Just because we’re married doesn’t mean we’re stuck together. Keep dreaming.”

Richard replied, “You seem to have distanced yourself from it quite well.”

“Oh, please, remember why we got married. Mainly to solve your problems and, by the way, to annoy Dan.”

It felt like Richard got everything his way. He was really something.

Richard listened to her angry tone, especially when she mentioned Dan’s name, which she pronounced with gritted teeth.

Richard couldn’t help but say, “I get the feeling you also want to annoy Dan?”

Sofia snorted, “Can’t we?”
