Chapter 603
Stephanie nodded. โYeah, itโs confirmed. What should we do? I canโt just ignore Ellaโs situation.โ
The former female leader of Dark Portal. Rumor had it that the current leader had quite a conflict with the former leader to claim the position. This situation was really messed up.
Sebastian smiled, โCall me hubby.โ
Stephanie was taken aback.
Sebastian asked, โNot calling?โ
โWhat are you doing?โ Stephanie said. Her cheeks flushed bright red. They were having a serious conversation, and here he was, playing games.
โJust say it,โ Sebastian insisted.
Stephanie thought, โNot nowโฆ Weโre in the middle of something important.โ
Sebastian smiled, โSay it, and Iโll tell you what to do.โ
Although it wasnโt a good time for this, she was convinced. โReally?โ
โStefi, be good and get used to it,โ Sebastian said. After all, he was not her brother, not anymore.
Stephanie squirmed awkwardly in his arms, trying to break free, but Sebastian had no intention of letting her go. Instead, his grip on her waist tightened just a bit.
In the end, Stephanie relented, her voice barely above a whisper. โHubby.โ Her already flushed face turned even redder.
Sebastian was totally amused. โSay it again.โ
โOh, come onโฆโ she muttered, but repeated it. โHubby.โ
There was a moment of silence.
โCan you tell me now?โ Stephanie asked, feeling a mix of embarrassment and curiosity. She had never realized how mischievous he could be.
Sebastian finally seemed satisfied. He playfully pinched her nose. โActually, if sheโs truly the former leader of Dark Portal, thereโs really nothing to worry about.โ
โWhat do you mean?โ Stephanie asked, puzzled. If Andrea really was the previous leader of Dark Portal, sheโd likely have issues with the current leader. Plus, she was taken away from Long Harbor by the current head of Dark Portal. This made it quite complicated.
But compared to Stephanieโs worries, Sebastian seemed to understand things more clearly. โAfter all, anyone whoโs been a leader at Dark Portal isnโt just a rookie,โ he said.
Stephanie was quiet for a moment. โWhen you put it like that, it does make sense,โ she admitted reluctantly. โBut still, sheโs the ex-leader.โ
How could an ex-leader compete with the current leaderโs power? Although she wasnโt too willing to admit it, the saying โout of sight, out of mindโ carried some truth.
โThe current position, itโs been unstable in the organization for years,โ Sebastian said, his tone serious.
โUnstable?โ Stephanie echoed, frowning.
Sebastian nodded. โUnstable.โ
Stephanie thought for a moment. โIs it because of Andrea?โ If it was unstableโฆ what could be the reason? But if it was because he got the position through questionable means, it made sense. Using dishonest ways to reach that position naturally led to instability.
Sebastian carried her to the sofa and sat down. โFrom what I know, the former female leader in the organization was highly respected. Someone like her canโt be easily replaced.โ
โDoesnโt that make things more complicated?โ Stephanie said, her voice filled with concern.
This raised the issue of stability. If, as Sebastian mentioned, the current leader hadnโt been secure for years, bringing back the former leader now seemed like a desperate move. Stephanie was even more worried about Andrea.
Sebastian seemed to read her mind, and his voice deepened with a hint of seriousness. โGiven her position, whatโs happening between her and the organization isnโt something you can really help with.โ
Of course, Stephanie thought, her shoulders slumping in resignation. With the organizationโs top leaders involved, what could a young girl like her possibly do? She felt a pang of helplessness.
But then Sebastianโs tone softened, almost as if he was about to reveal a secret. โBut you might still be able to help her.โ
โHow can I help?โ Stephanieโs eyes lit up with hope the moment she heard his words. She leaned forward, eager to hear more.
Sebastian met her hopeful gaze and chuckled softly, a teasing glint in his eyes. โHelp ensure Ellaโs safety.โ
Stephanie was at a loss for words.
