Chapter 579

Sebastian walked over and stopped in front of her. As he reached out, Sofia instinctively backed away. โ€œWhat are you doing?โ€ she asked.

His warm fingertip brushed across her neck, and in a low voice, he asked, โ€œWho did this to you?โ€

โ€œHuh?โ€ Hearing Sebastianโ€™s words, Sofia instinctively touched her neck.

โ€œDid you go find Dan?โ€

Sofia remained silent. She was fine without mentioning Dan, but bringing up that guy made her recall how he almost went too far. During the fight last night, while others might not have noticed, Sofia clearly felt it. Every move Dan made was intended to be deadly, which was why she didnโ€™t hold back and knocked him out.

What a joke. Dan was the man she once cherished in her heart, carefully preserving their shared memories. Yet, he was also the man who tried to bring her harm.

Sofia took a deep breath. โ€œI went to get something from him.โ€

โ€œRichardโ€™s documents? Do you think thereโ€™s any point in getting them back now?โ€

Sofia said, โ€œI donโ€™t think itโ€™s any use either, but Richard keeps bugging me for them, acting like Iโ€™m crazy if I donโ€™t. The way he hassled me yesterday, it seemed like he wouldnโ€™t let it go until I got the files back.โ€

Sebastian asked, โ€œDid you get it back?โ€

โ€œNo, I knocked him out, and didnโ€™t get the documents.โ€

She had to admit that Dan was pretty tough. Even after getting beaten up like that, he still didnโ€™t give back the documents. Now Richard had even more reason to keep bugging Sofia.

Sebastian said, โ€œDonโ€™t go looking for him anymore.โ€

Sofiaโ€™s expression faltered. Then she nodded. โ€œOK, I wonโ€™t go.โ€

The words seemed simple, but they held Sofiaโ€™s silent determination. A decision to let go and feel relieved. Dan had been in her heart for so many years, and now it had come down to this. She had cherished the wrong person. She just had to let it go; otherwise, it would keep humiliating herself. That was not Sofiaโ€™s style.

Sebastian left. Sofia turned and went inside, where Stephanie was still on the couch. As soon as Sofia walked in, she saw Stephanie leaning over the couch back, eagerly looking at her.

Stephanie was clearly waiting for Sofia. From Sofiaโ€™s perspective, Stephanie seemed like a guilty kitten, pitifully resting her paws on the sofa. Sofia initially wanted to tease her a bit, but seeing her like this, she couldnโ€™t bring herself to do it.

โ€œAlright, I know Sebastian was picking on you. Itโ€™s not your fault youโ€™re not related here,โ€ Sofia said as she ruffled Stephanieโ€™s hair. โ€œIf he bothers you again, just tell meโ€ฆ oh, never mind!โ€

If someone else was bullying Stephanie, Sofia could stand up for herself. But with Sebastian, there was no way she could. Stephanie noticed Sofiaโ€™s messy hair and reached out to fix it. โ€œDid you get into a fight with Dan last night?โ€

Sofia nodded. โ€œYeah, I did.โ€

Stephanie asked, โ€œDid you win?โ€

That was what Stephanie really wanted to know. But seeing Sofiaโ€™s messy hair, Stephanie was genuinely concerned. Before Sofia could say anything, Stephanie noticed the marks on her neck. โ€œOh no, did he strangle you?โ€

โ€œNo, it wasnโ€™t Dan. It was Richard who did it,โ€ Sofia clarified. She was honest and didnโ€™t falsely accuse anyone, as Dan hadnโ€™t touched her last night.
