Chapter 579
Sebastian walked over and stopped in front of her. As he reached out, Sofia instinctively backed away. โWhat are you doing?โ she asked.
His warm fingertip brushed across her neck, and in a low voice, he asked, โWho did this to you?โ
โHuh?โ Hearing Sebastianโs words, Sofia instinctively touched her neck.
โDid you go find Dan?โ
Sofia remained silent. She was fine without mentioning Dan, but bringing up that guy made her recall how he almost went too far. During the fight last night, while others might not have noticed, Sofia clearly felt it. Every move Dan made was intended to be deadly, which was why she didnโt hold back and knocked him out.
What a joke. Dan was the man she once cherished in her heart, carefully preserving their shared memories. Yet, he was also the man who tried to bring her harm.
Sofia took a deep breath. โI went to get something from him.โ
โRichardโs documents? Do you think thereโs any point in getting them back now?โ
Sofia said, โI donโt think itโs any use either, but Richard keeps bugging me for them, acting like Iโm crazy if I donโt. The way he hassled me yesterday, it seemed like he wouldnโt let it go until I got the files back.โ
Sebastian asked, โDid you get it back?โ
โNo, I knocked him out, and didnโt get the documents.โ
She had to admit that Dan was pretty tough. Even after getting beaten up like that, he still didnโt give back the documents. Now Richard had even more reason to keep bugging Sofia.
Sebastian said, โDonโt go looking for him anymore.โ
Sofiaโs expression faltered. Then she nodded. โOK, I wonโt go.โ
The words seemed simple, but they held Sofiaโs silent determination. A decision to let go and feel relieved. Dan had been in her heart for so many years, and now it had come down to this. She had cherished the wrong person. She just had to let it go; otherwise, it would keep humiliating herself. That was not Sofiaโs style.
Sebastian left. Sofia turned and went inside, where Stephanie was still on the couch. As soon as Sofia walked in, she saw Stephanie leaning over the couch back, eagerly looking at her.
Stephanie was clearly waiting for Sofia. From Sofiaโs perspective, Stephanie seemed like a guilty kitten, pitifully resting her paws on the sofa. Sofia initially wanted to tease her a bit, but seeing her like this, she couldnโt bring herself to do it.
โAlright, I know Sebastian was picking on you. Itโs not your fault youโre not related here,โ Sofia said as she ruffled Stephanieโs hair. โIf he bothers you again, just tell meโฆ oh, never mind!โ
If someone else was bullying Stephanie, Sofia could stand up for herself. But with Sebastian, there was no way she could. Stephanie noticed Sofiaโs messy hair and reached out to fix it. โDid you get into a fight with Dan last night?โ
Sofia nodded. โYeah, I did.โ
Stephanie asked, โDid you win?โ
That was what Stephanie really wanted to know. But seeing Sofiaโs messy hair, Stephanie was genuinely concerned. Before Sofia could say anything, Stephanie noticed the marks on her neck. โOh no, did he strangle you?โ
โNo, it wasnโt Dan. It was Richard who did it,โ Sofia clarified. She was honest and didnโt falsely accuse anyone, as Dan hadnโt touched her last night.
