Chapter 573
“Hurry up and let go of me!” Sofia used all her strength to try and regain control of the situation. However, the difference in strength between them was too great. Even though Sofia was very skilled and fit, she was entirely overwhelmed by Dan, with no strength left to turn the situation around.
“Mr. Murry,” the middle-aged man leading the pack nervously stepped forward, his gaze initially fierce when looking at Sofia. But the moment he saw Sofia’s face, his breath stopped instantly. His heart leaped into his throat. He thought, ‘How could this be Sofia of the Giovanni family? Why would Mr. Murry choose to provoke her? Who doesn’t know Sofia?’
For the past couple of years, Sofia told everyone that her sister had run away and warned people not to bully her sister. Nobody dared to bully the adopted daughter of the Giovanni family. The whole family pampered her like a treasure. Many people got warned by her, and quite a few were also tricked by her. Especially the Dohrn family’s gem mine; she nearly emptied it back then.
Because of this incident, everyone knew that Sofia of the Giovanni family was fierce. The middle-aged man initially wanted to call for someone to deal with Sofia, but now, no one would dare.
“Mr. Murry…” The man felt stuck for a moment. One was the investor he needed; another was Sofia of the Giovanni family. His face was a mix of emotions.
Dan glared at Sofia beneath him and growled, “Everyone, leave.”
Hearing these words, the man felt as if he had been granted a reprieve, immediately sighing in relief. He quickly instructed the others, “Go out, everybody.”
They thought, ‘What’s happening here? How did Mr. Murry get involved with Sofia? It’s odd; Sofia holds someone dear and comes looking for Dan. But her way is curious.’
Everyone left. The last person considerately closed the booth door. Only Sofia and Dan remained, and Sofia looked at him, clenching her teeth. “Get off.”
Dan gripped her wrist more tightly, his warm breath brushing against Sofia’s cheek. He had a kind-looking face.
Sofia thought, “Those eyes that once gazed at me with warmth and affection now had a dangerous, cold gleam. Of course, for someone of his status, his gentleness only extended to his looks.”
Dan squinted slightly. “People from the Giovanni family, do you think I won’t dare to kill you?”
Already angry, Sofia grew even more furious facing Dan like this. “You set me up and still want to kill me?”
Sofia thought, ‘Damn, the nerve of Dan! ’ Sofia was completely riled up. She leaned her head back on the sofa, then lunged forward with all her strength, a thud sounding, followed by Dan’s groan.
The grip on Sofia’s arm loosened at that moment. Her head throbbed with pain, and as for Dan, he nearly had his head split open from Sofia’s unexpected headbutt.
“You…” Dan began to speak, but Sofia cut him off and went at him once again.
The gentle tone on the phone was filled with calculation. Sofia didn’t believe it. She was sure Dan had approached her with a motive all those years ago, got what he wanted, and then pretended to die to get away.
Sofia never cared for men like this. She didn’t hold back against Dan. “You jerk, tell me where Richard’s things are.”
Dan dodged her attack. His gaze on her was now filled with dangerous intensity.
Meeting his gaze like that made Sofia even angrier. “You stole something and still dare to glare at me?” With this, she charged at Dan, set on confronting him.
Outside the door, the people Dan had invited tonight hadn’t left yet. A few of them had their ears pressed to the door, listening to the loud thud sounds, their hearts pounding.
“Mr. Greco, haven’t you checked if Mr. Murry has issues with the Lucano family?”
Lamberto was the one inviting Dan tonight. Since he couldn’t gain anything from the firepower Sebastian had, he was trying to get something from Dan instead. But…
