“There’s no way I’m that powerful, right? I couldn’t even get the upper hand in a fight with Richard. He’s not coming here for something that happened during that fight. This makes no sense.”
Theodore replied, “No, it’s not like that. He had a document stolen. Ugh, he’s coming for you right now, and he’s bringing weapons. You’d better hide!”
Sofia blinked in confusion. “Huh?”
Theodore urged, “Hurry up! He’s got a weapon, and he is coming for you.”
Sofia thought, “Wait, he’s coming after me with weapons? What did Richard lose, some super-important document? From the way Theodore’s talking, it sounds like he’s really coming to fight me.”
Sofia said, “I didn’t take anything!” She was completely stunned.
‘Honestly, when I went to see Richard, we were just fighting. I didn’t take anything from him. Why does it sound like I’m the one who stole something?’ she thought.
Sofia huffed, “When did this stuff go missing?” She had been going to Richard’s place for a few days.
Theodore replied, “If we’re talking about timing, it was four days ago—the first day you came here.”
Sofia said, “That wasn’t me. I definitely didn’t take anything that day.”
Theodore said, “Well, the stuff’s already with Dan.”
Sofia thought, ‘What? The stuff’s with Dan now?’
She had been staying at Sandara earlier. In fact, she’d even gone to Keris Isle with Dan. After hearing that Richard was back in Fiorenza, she couldn’t take it and decided to come back. Then, because of the Giovanni family’s business, she went looking for Richard to fight. That meant, after coming back from Dan’s place, she went straight to Richard. And now, somehow, Richard’s stuff was gone and ended up with Dan.
Her mind was racing. Then, she froze. After all this, there was no way she could explain it clearly. Based on the timeline, there was no way she could explain this. ‘Dan, that idiot, why would he even want something of Richard’s?’ she thought.
Theodore said, “You need to hide, Sofia. Richard’s furious. If you don’t give him the stuff today, he’s definitely going to kill you.”
Sofia thought, ‘Kill me? I didn’t even take it. What the hell am I supposed to do now?’
Theodore said a few more things before hanging up. Sofia turned to look at Stephanie, who was staring right back at her.
Sofia shook her head. “I didn’t take it.”
Stephanie nodded without hesitation. “I believe you.”
Her response was quick and sure without a moment of doubt. She knew exactly what kind of person Sofia was.
‘Forget about how Dan is treating her now. Back when he was nice to her, she still wouldn’t have done something that dumb,” she thought.
Sofia could love someone, but she’d never make a mistake like this for a guy. And more importantly, even if she did, she’d do it openly instead of sneaking around like a thief.
Just as Sofia and Stephanie were about to say something else, there was a knock on the door, and Henry’s voice came from outside. “Ms. Sofia Giovanni?”
Sofia asked, “What’s up?”
Henry replied, “Mr. Casalini’s here. He says he wants to see you.”
Sofia thought, ‘He’s here already? What should…
Since Richard had cleared up everything from three years ago, Lottie hadn’t stopped him from showing up. After all, the two families had always been close like old friends. Plus, at that time, Richard had really been trying to help the Giovanni family—it just got messed up. If you really think about it, he did them a favor.
Sofia instinctively said, “I don’t want to see him.”
‘Damn it. How am I supposed to explain all this?’ she thought.
As soon as Sofia finished speaking, Richard’s angry voice shouted from outside. “Sofia, get out here. If I don’t make you regret stealing whatever file you took, I’ll make sure you pay for it!”
Stephanie and Sofia exchanged a glance.
