Listen to this chapter:

โ€œHeโ€™s in the study. Dr. Vitale and Mr. Hogg are here,โ€ Henry replied.

Stephanie nodded, not bothering to ask anything else. She just wanted to lie down for a bit. She had an overnight flight later, and no matter how much she slept on the plane, it was never as good as being in her own bed.

As she reached the stairs, Sebastian came down with Job and Macro trailing behind. Sebastian glanced at Stephanie and said to Macro, โ€œCheck on Stefi.โ€

Macro looked confused. โ€œWhatโ€™s up with her?โ€

โ€œHavenโ€™t seen her eat much lately,โ€ Sebastian said. โ€œShe barely touched her lunch or the snacks she brought back.โ€

After giving Macro the heads-up, Sebastian turned to Stephanie and gently ruffled her hair. โ€œIโ€™m heading out for a bit,โ€ he said.

When Stephanie heard that Sebastian was heading out with Job again, she grabbed his wrist. โ€œWeโ€™re still going back to Fiorenza tonight, right? No more changes?โ€

She couldnโ€™t deal with any more changes. Tessa would be a wreck on the phone if they kept shifting plans. And Stephanie was genuinely worried about her. Even if Lorenzo wouldnโ€™t hurt Tessa, the constant fear could tear Tessa apart. Stephanie was determined to get back as soon as possible.

Sebastian smiled reassuringly. โ€œNo more changes. Weโ€™re good.โ€

โ€œAlright,โ€ Stephanie said, letting go of his wrist. โ€œGo ahead.โ€

Sebastian nodded and left with Job. He was always busy.

As soon as Sebastian disappeared through the door, Stephanie turned to Macro. โ€œIs everything sorted with Lancelot?โ€

In Fiorenza, only Lancelot would dare to mess with Sebastian.

When Stephanie mentioned Lancelot, Macro stopped short. Then, with a grave look, he said, โ€œThere wonโ€™t be any Lancelot left in this world.โ€

Stephanieโ€™s eyes widened. Sheโ€™d figured Lancelot was asking for trouble when she heard heโ€™d crossed Sebastian. Now it proved that she was right.

Macro glanced at her. โ€œYou feeling sick anywhere?โ€

Stephanie shook her head. โ€œNot really sick, just no appetite.โ€ Lately, food just hadnโ€™t tasted as good as it used toโ€”especially in the evenings, when she used to relish every bite.

Macro frowned. โ€œNo appetite? Is your stomach bloated?โ€

โ€œA little,โ€ Stephanie admitted. Even without eating much, her stomach felt a bit off.

Macro paused, studying her thoughtfully.

Stephanie squirmed under his gaze. โ€œItโ€™s not something serious, is it?โ€

She felt a pang of anxiety. Being scrutinized like that by a doctor would make anyone uneasy. She was still young and didnโ€™t want to hear anything major.

Macro shook his head. โ€œNo way itโ€™s anything serious.โ€

Stephanie frowned. โ€œThen why the look? Itโ€™s not like I have some rare disease just because Iโ€™m not hungry,โ€ she thought to herself.

Macro paused, then said, โ€œIโ€™ll get you some granules to try.โ€

โ€œGranules?โ€ Stephanie repeated, confused.

โ€œStomach protein. You know, the stuff Sebastian used to give you,โ€ Macro replied.

Stephanie remembered it now. Sheโ€™d had it once in the hospitalโ€”it was sweet and tangy, and it tasted pretty good.

Macro didnโ€™t think much of the bloating, but he had a nagging feeling something wasnโ€™t quite right. He couldnโ€™t put his finger on it yet, so he figured heโ€™d let her try the medicine first.

โ€œThen give it to me later,โ€ Stephanie said, then turned and started heading upstairs.

โ€œWhat are you up to?โ€ Macro asked, following her.

โ€œGoing to sleep. What else?โ€ She didnโ€™t turn around.

โ€œYouโ€™ve been sleeping a lot lately,โ€ he noted. It seemed like Stephanie was always catching some Zโ€™s these days.

Macroโ€™s comment made Stephanie stop on the stairs.
