Chapter 467
The news dominated Long Harbor all day, causing quite a stir. Several of her so-called close friends had called, pretending to be concerned but really just looking for gossip. Not a single one had visited her while she was sick.
Chris frowned and gave her a cold look, but he didnโt speak. Clearly, he was aware of the situation.
โChris, please help me,โ Olivia pleaded, her voice filled with desperation. โI canโt think of anyone else to turn to right now.โ
She positioned herself as the weaker party. โFor old timesโ sake, can you help me this once? Just this one time?โ
She knew Chris wouldnโt take her back. She wasnโt naive enough to hope for a reconciliation, but Catlin had to be released. If Catlin couldnโt be released, Oliviaโs position in the Hart family might be completely ruined, especially with how Tyler was treating her now.
First, it was Chad, and now Tyler was acting the same way. โDo they really care so much about blood relations? But Iโve been by their side all these years! Even Tyler is now ignoring me as well,โ Olivia thought bitterly.
Chrisโs response was harsh. โOld timesโ sake? You mean the โfeelingsโ you manipulated? The kind that trampled on human lives? Is that what you call genuine affection?โ
Olivia fell silent. Her mind buzzed with shock. Her eyes widened as she stared at Chris, unable to believe what she was hearing. His cold tone and icy gaze were like a slap in the face.
โYou think the bond we shared was all a result of my scheming?โ she asked, her voice trembling.
The word โschemingโ hung heavily in the air. Hearing Chris say this, Olivia felt even more suffocated. She knew now that there was no affection left between them. If there had been even a shred of it, he wouldnโt have spoken to her like this.
Chris sneered. โIsnโt that the case?โ
โBecause of that car accident, you dismiss all the feelings Iโve ever had for you? Is that fair to me?โ she countered.
Olivia had been so desperate to keep Chris by her side, terrified that she would lose him, lose everything because of Stephanieโs return. That was why she had planned the accident.
โYou almost killed her, and now youโre talking about fairness?โ Chris glared at Olivia as if she were a stranger.
Olivia said, โI did what I did because I was afraid of losing everything.โ
โChris, I grew up in the Hart family. I called them Mom, Dad, and brother for over twenty years, only to be told in the end that they werenโt my family. Even you, my fiancรฉ, were supposed to be with the Hart familyโs real daughter. I was scared,โ Olivia said painfully. Her actions against Stephanie had all stemmed from this deep-seated fear.
However, when Chris heard her say โscared,โ he didnโt comfort her as he used to. Instead, his gaze turned even colder. โYou were scared, so you could just kill someone?โ
Olivia retorted, โBut Stephanie didnโt die, did she? Sheโs alive and well, and she took everything from me. Is that fair to me?โ
She believed that the downfall of the Hart family was Stephanieโs doing, and Chris was ignoring her now because of Stephanie. Stephanie was fine, but Olivia had lost everything.
โYes, I was wrong, but she didnโt die!โ Olivia said frantically.
Yet, her words only made Chris look at her with even more disdain.
Clearly, at this moment, Chris had seen Olivia for who she truly was, not the person he had once thought her to be.
With a cold snort, he said, โI canโt help you with the Hart familyโs affairs. You brought this upon yourselves with your wrongdoings. Donโt blame anyone else.โ
Olivia fell silent.
โDrive,โ Chris commanded.
Hearing Chrisโs order, Kevin breathed a sigh of relief. Without giving Olivia a chance to react, he quickly rolled up the car window and started the vehicle.
Seeing that Chris was no longer speaking to her, Olivia panicked. โChris, listen to meโฆโ
But all she received in response was the sound of Chrisโs car speeding away. The carโs speed was so fast that the wind it kicked up made Olivia shiver uncontrollably.
