Chapter 444

Allison and Stephanie's situations were somewhat similar. When Allison was five, her father died because of Yanis's father, and she was taken in by the Lewis family. However, she wasn't treated well there. Yanis's mother disliked her, and consequently, other family elders also looked down on her. The only people who protected her were Yanis and his father. After Darian passed away, Yanis was the sole person in the Lewis family who stood by her. Allison's friends knew Yanis's feelings for her; he kept her cherished and safe.

Stephanie couldn't believe that Yanis had no feelings for Allison. Allison's face froze momentarily when she heard Stephanie's question. “Me and him?” Her tone was clearly strained.

Stephanie nodded. “Yeah.” Her mind flashed back to what Xayvion had said about her and Yanis. She suddenly felt a bit suffocated. “His mom is looking for a suitable fiancée for him lately.”

“Yanis doesn’t need a marriage alliance to boost the Lewis family empire, right? He was already a powerful figure among the younger generation, and the Lewis Group was thriving under his leadership.”

Allison forced a smile and said nothing. But that smile was exactly what made Stephanie's heart ache again.

Allison continued, “Sharon visited me at the hospital this morning.”

“What did she say?”

“What else could it be? She told me to know my place.”

Those words were typical of a wealthy woman. But coming from Sharon, and directed at Allison, it felt incredibly ungrateful. Stephanie was a little angry. “That’s just too much. Looking back, if Darian had died back then, the Lewis family wouldn’t have survived until Yanis took control of the Lewis Group. You’re thought of as a benefactor to the Lewis family, but she’s treating you like this.”

It turned out that the Hart family wasn’t the only family lacking common sense. Sharon was actually heartless, too.

“So what’s Yanis’s attitude now? He shouldn’t be interested in marrying anyone, right?” He had feelings for Allison. Whenever he traveled for business and it was a longer trip, he always took Allison with him.

Allison handed the completed menu to Stephanie. “Forget about it, let’s not talk about him.” Bringing up anything about the Lewis family only frustrated her now.

Allison had something hidden, and Stephanie noticed it. It seemed like there was more between her and Yanis, beyond just Sharon’s interference. Sharon had never liked Allison, but Yanis had always been very protective of her, so she hardly ever saw Sharon. But today, when the Lewis family was mentioned, it clearly bothered Allison.

Stephanie casually pointed at something on the menu and handed it to the server.

Sebastian called again, “Don’t eat too much at lunch; I’m bringing you something delicious.”

Stephanie asked, “What’s tasty?”

“You’ll find out soon enough.”

Hearing those words from Sebastian, Stephanie felt a warm feeling in her heart. She hung up the call.

Allison said, “Stefi, I really envy you. They all love you so much.” She was talking about the entire Giovanni family. Sebastian, along with everyone in the Giovanni family and even the Lucano family, truly treated Stephanie as part of the family.

Stephanie replied, “Don’t be too jealous; there are plenty of people who don’t like me too.” Even with family ties, the relationship between the Hart family and her had been tense for the past two years.

When the Hart family was mentioned, Allison rolled her eyes. “There are always some lowlifes everywhere.”
