Chapter 404
Sebastian had promised to be back in two hours, and true to his word, he returned to the Shallow Bay Area right on time. Initially, Stephanie had felt too tired and wanted to sleep, but thoughts of Ellaโs situation kept her on edge. So, when Sebastian came back, she was still awake, waiting anxiously.
Sebastian took off his coat and walked over. โWhy arenโt you asleep yet?โ
โWaiting for you,โ Stephanie mumbled.
Sebastian raised an eyebrow. โWhatโs going on?โ He could tell something was bothering her. She loved her sleep too much to stay up for no reason.
โItโs about Ella. Sheโs really scared of Lorenzo. You might need to send someone to pick her up,โ Stephanie replied.
Sebastian asked, โDid she say sheโs scared?โ
โYeah.โ Stephanie nodded. Now that Ella had opened up first, Stephanie felt even more committed to helping. After all, Ella was one of her few true friends who had always been there for her during the issues at the Hart residence.
โIโll give Lorenzo a call,โ Sebastian said, taking out his phone. He thought, โThereโs no need to send someone. If Ella doesnโt want to be with Lorenzo, just have him drop her off at Stephanieโs villa. Besides, heโs always been a loner; he probably doesnโt even like having her around to bother him.โ
The call connected quickly. Lorenzoโs voice came through. โHello.โ
โHowโs Ella?โ Sebastian asked.
โSheโs doing fine.โ
โSheโs scared of you?โ
There was a brief silence on Lorenzoโs end.
Stephanie frowned slightly. Couldnโt Sebastian be gentler? Ella is still with Lorenzo right now; is it really okay for Sebastian to be so direct?
Lorenzo finally replied, โIs there anything sheโs not scared of?โ
Stephanie was at a loss for words.
Sebastian said, โIf she doesnโt want to stay with you, then send her to Stefiโs villa at Red Oak Mountain.โ Stephanie owned a small manor at Mount Red, which was huge and had three manors in total.
Lorenzo responded, โShe canโt go to Mount Red right now.โ
โWhy not?โ Sebastian asked.
Lorenzo explained, โSheโs being hunted right now. Unless I send her to the Giovanni residence, thereโs nowhere else that is safe.โ
โSend her to the Giovanni residence?โ Stephanie paused for a moment and said, โThat works too.โ She looked eagerly at Sebastian, pleading for his approval.
Sebastian replied, โThen go ahead and send her there.โ
โThat wonโt work either,โ Lorenzo said.
โWhatโs wrong now?โ Sebastian frownedโeven the Giovannis couldnโt protect Ella?
Lorenzo explained, โWe need to figure out whoโs behind this chase first. I suspect itโs a setup, possibly targetingโฆโ
Lorenzo didnโt finish his sentence, but both Sebastian and Stephanie understood perfectly.
Stephanie blurted out, โElla wouldnโt be involved.โ
โShe wouldnโt, but the people behind her might,โ Lorenzo said.
Stephanieโs heart sank. What do we do now?
Sebastian asked, โWhatโs your plan then?โ
Lorenzo replied, โLet her stay with me for now. Iโll look into this.โ
โBut Ella is scared of Lorenzo.โ Stephanie kept throwing Sebastian pleading looks. But this time Sebastian didnโt budge. He told Lorenzo, โThen Iโll leave her to you.โ
Stephanie gasped. Oh no, there goes my friendship.
Sebastian hung up the phone and noticed Stephanie looking upset. โWhatโs wrong?โ he asked.
โShe wouldnโt get involved,โ Stephanie insisted.
Sebastian replied softly, โTrue, but we canโt be sure about her pursuers.โ
โBut sheโs afraid of Lorenzo,โ Stephanie said. Ellaโs frightened voice on the phone made her worry even more.
Sebastian gently ruffled her soft hair. โDonโt worry. Lorenzo wonโt harm her.โ
Stephanie fell silent. Lorenzo might not harm Ella, but he might frighten her to death.
โMaybe Ella will call you tomorrow, okay?โ Sebastian comforted.
โAlright then,โ Sebastian said. She didnโt say anything else. It was getting late, so she decided to wait until the next day for Ella to call her to talk about it.
