Chapter 340

Chris stood in the cold wind, itching to go inside and see what was happening, but the security guards wouldnโ€™t let him through. When Macro came out, he saw Kevin next to Chris, trying to talk the guards into letting them in.

Macro didnโ€™t want to get involved, but thinking about how upset Sebastian had beenโ€”and the trouble that could spill over into Long Harborโ€”he stopped his car and rolled down his window. As their eyes met, Macro asked, โ€œHere to see Stefi?โ€

Hearing Macro call Stephanie in an intimate way, Chris felt a pang in his chest. The way people around Sebastian talked about her made it clear what kind of role she played in the Lucano family. Chris tried to swallow his unease. โ€œHowโ€™s she doing?โ€ he asked.

Macro could tell Chris already knew about the accident. He gave him a serious look. โ€œSheโ€™s the little princess of the Giovanni family. Her safety is none of your business.โ€

Chris was stunned at Macroโ€™s words. Everyone had always thought she was raised by some hicksโ€”unloved, uncared for, and without manners. But now, it turned out she was one of the famous Giovanni sisters from Fiorenzaโ€”the very sister Sofia had always bragged about.

Macro said, โ€œMr. Ashford, let me just remind you. You donโ€™t deserve Stefi. The Lucano family wonโ€™t accept you.โ€

She was the little princess of the Giovanni family, known in Fiorenza. She was the younger sister that Sofia took everywhere and had never endured any hardship. But in Long Harbor, she found herself facing real difficulties for the first time.

โ€œSheโ€™s not connected to you anymore. Donโ€™t look for her again,โ€ Macro said.

Chrisโ€™s breath caught. Hearing Macroโ€™s words, he felt like part of his heart was missing. There was no visible blood, but the pain was deep.

Macro drove off. Kevin approached Chris nervously and said, โ€œMr. Ashford, the family doctor called. Theyโ€™re too scared to go to the Hart residence.โ€

Now both Tyler and Olivia needed urgent medical helpโ€”one was seriously ill, and the other was badly injured. But no hospitals in Long Harbor would take them, and no doctor would make a house call.

Chris had no choice but to go against his motherโ€™s wishes and send the family doctor to the Harts. But now, things didnโ€™t go as he expected. Sebastian wanted to drive the Hart family to the brink of ruin. However, the Ashfords werenโ€™t in any better shape now.

Kevin felt his phone vibrate. He glanced at the number and handed it to Chris. โ€œMs. Hartโ€™s calling,โ€ he said.

Chris took it and answered, โ€œOlivia.โ€

โ€œChris, I donโ€™t think Iโ€™m gonna make it,โ€ Olivia said, her voice weak and pained. She sounded genuinely overwhelmed by the pain. Now she truly regretted messing with Stephanie.

Chris closed his eyes and said, โ€œDonโ€™t worry. Iโ€™ll figure it out.โ€ The words felt hollow. He never thought anyone could back the Ashford family into such a corner in Long Harbor.

โ€œBut Iโ€™m really at my breaking point. Last night, I lost a lot of blood,โ€ Olivia said over the phone, her voice shaking with fear.

Blood had seeped from her pores. If this kept up, she was really going to lose her life.
