Louisโ POV
โShe said she doesnโt want them,โ one of Oliviaโs maids muttered, holding the unopened packages.
I frowned and exchanged glances with my brothers. Lennox and Levi wore the same angry expression. Like me, they were pained by her rejection of our gifts.
Without a word, Lennox led the way, Levi and I following, the maids trailing behind.
We found Oliviaโs room unlocked. Lennox pushed it open, and we entered. She sat on the bed, as if waitingโas if she knew we were coming. We said nothing, but I signaled the maids, who placed the boxes near the foot of the bed before quietly slipping out and closing the door.
My brothers and I turned to Olivia, our eyes fixed on her, but she seemed unconcerned.
Lennox spoke first. โDid you reject our gifts?โ he asked, his voice calm, his tone at odds with the anger etched on his face. It was as if he didnโt want to annoy her.
Olivia folded her arms and glared. โSince when did you three start showering me with gifts?โ she scoffed, one eyebrow arching. โI think youโve made a mistake. Maybe these were meant for your mistressโAnita, was it? You should take them to her.โ
โNoโฆ theyโre for you,โ I said, moving forward.
Olivia stared directly at me. โFor me?โ she asked, seeming angry. It made me wonder why she was so angry at the idea of us getting her things. I thought she was supposed to be happy.
โYes, Olivia, itโs you,โ Levi responded.
Olivia scoffed and stood. She eyed the presents, then looked back at us. โYou three think Iโm a fool? That I donโt know why you suddenly sent gifts?โ she asked, and I frowned. Did she know our plan?
โWhat are you talking about?โ Lennox asked.
Oliviaโs gaze shifted to Lennox. โItโs the full moon soonโฆ you three sent these so you canโฆ fuck me! But guess whatโitโs never happening.โ
I blinked. โWhat?โ I breathed, stunned. โOliviaโwhat the hell are you talking about?โ
Lennox took a step forward, his jaw clenching. โThatโs not what this is.โ
She laughed bitterly, as if she didnโt believe a word we said. โDonโt act clueless. I know how your kind works. The full moon heightens everything, doesnโt it? Youโre all just hoping I give in to the bond.โ
Levi frowned. โThe full moon?โ He looked between me and Lennox, confused. โThatโs stillโฆ wait. Is it close?โ
Lennox cursed under his breath, realization dawning. โShit. Itโs in a week.โ
I blinked again, turning back to Olivia. I hadnโt even checked the calendar. Weโd been too consumed with worry, withโฆ her.
โYou really think weโd try to manipulate you like that?โ I asked, more hurt than I wanted to admit. โYou think thatโs what the gifts were for?โ
Oliviaโs eyes narrowed, but there was uncertainty in them now, a flicker of hesitation. โWhy else would you send them?โ she asked, crossing her arms tightly.
โBecause we wanted to gift you something nice,โ Levi said, his voice low. โBecause you are our wifeโฆ our mate, and we realized we havenโt gotten you any gifts for years!โ
โWe just wanted to get you something nice, Olivia,โ Lennox added, his tone gentler now. โWe donโt care about the full moon. We never thought of it.โ
I stepped forward, slowly, hands at my sides. โWe didnโt even remember the full moon until you mentioned it. Thatโs not what this is. We justโฆ we thought maybe youโd like these gifts.โ
Oliviaโs lips parted slightly, her arms loosening. I could see the confusion in her eyes now, the battle between suspicion and trust.
โYouโre lying,โ she said, but her voice wasnโt as sharp. โYouโre always lying.โ
โNo, Liv,โ I said softly. โNot this time. We sent those gifts because we wanted you to look good. That you are stillโโ
โDonโt,โ she cut in quickly, holding up a hand. Her voice cracked. โDonโt say it.โ
Silence stretched as we waited for her to speak. My wolf howled uncomfortably inside me, driving me insane.
Slowly, she turned to the gifts and frowned. โAre you sure these are even my size?โ
Before I could open my mouth, Levi stepped forward. โI could never miss your size,โ he said without hesitation. โI picked the dress. The shoes. Everything.โ
Olivia turned her gaze to him slowly, her brow furrowed. โThat was a long time ago, Levi. Iโm not the little girl you used to dress up like a doll and twirl around the garden.โ
He smiled faintly, but there was pain behind it. โI know youโre not. I know youโve changed.โ His voice dropped to a murmur. โBut I havenโt stopped seeing you.โ
She blinked, her guard wavering. โYouโre making this difficult,โ she muttered, more to herself than to us.
Lennox spoke next, his voice calm. โYou say youโve changed, and maybe you have. But youโre still our mate. That doesnโt change. Not to us.โ
โWe never stopped noticing you,โ I added, my voice thick.
She didnโt respond. She just stared at the gifts like they were something dangerous. Like accepting them would open a door sheโd tried to nail shut.
And then, slowly, she stepped forward. Her fingers hovered above the box for a moment before her hand reached in, brushing over the soft fabric of the midnight blue dress. She paused, then pulled it out.
It was a sleek, elegant thingโfitted at the waist, flowing just enough at the hem, with sheer sleeves and delicate silver embroidery that shimmered faintly in the light.
She held it up in front of her body, eyeing it critically. Her mouth twitchedโalmost a smirk. โIf this doesnโt fit, Iโm burning it.โ
โYou wonโt need to,โ Levi said confidently. โItโll fit.โ
She cast him a glance, then turned away, walking toward her bathroom with the dress clutched in her hands. โDonโt get excited,โ she tossed over her shoulder. โI just want to prove you wrong.โ
We said nothing. None of us dared breathe too loud.
