Leviโs POV
The moment the guard unlocked the cell, I stormed inside, scooping Oliviaโs unconscious body into my arms. Panic clawed at my chest as I lifted her; her blood dripped onto the cold stone floor from the deep wound in her neck.
โGet the healer!โ Louis shouted as he ran behind me, while Lennox stood frozen, his expression blank with shock, as if his mind couldnโt process what was happening.
My heart pounded in sync with my wolfโs frantic howling. Ignoring the slick warmth of Oliviaโs blood soaking into my clothes, I carried her straight into the pack house and up to her room. I laid her on the bed and pressed my trembling hand to her bleeding neck, desperately trying to stop the flow.
โFuck,โ I choked out, staring at the blood pooling between my fingers. It wasnโt slowing. It wasnโt stopping.
โWhere is the fucking healer?โ Louis shouted at the top of his lungs, and just then, the door pushed open, and the pack healer rushed in along with Oliviaโs mom.
The healer hurried to the bedside, her eyes widening as she took in Oliviaโs condition. Oliviaโs mom followed closely, gasping at the sight of her daughter drenched in blood.
โWhat happened?โ the healer demanded, dropping to her knees beside the bed.
โShe stabbed herself,โ I stammered, my voice thick with fear.
The healerโs hands glowed with a soft, golden light as she hovered them over Oliviaโs neck, murmuring an incantation. I held my breath, hoping to see the bleeding slow or stop altogether. But nothing changed. The blood kept pouring, staining the sheets beneath her.
The healer frowned, her hands trembling as the light flickered and faded.
โWhatโs wrong?โ Oliviaโs mom cried, her face stricken with terror.
โIโI donโt understand,โ the healer whispered, sweat beading on her forehead. โSheโs resisting my ability. Itโs as ifโฆ she doesnโt want to be healed.โ
โWhat the hell do you mean she doesnโt want to be healed?โ I snapped, barely containing the growl rumbling in my chest. โSheโs unconscious! She doesnโt even know sheโs hurt!โ
The healer shook her head, clearly just as confused as the rest of us. โSometimesโฆ it happens when the spirit is rejecting life โ when the will to survive is weakened. But Iโve never seen it this strong before. Itโs likeโฆ her body is consciously fighting against my healing.โ
Louis cursed under his breath, pacing by the door, while Lennox stood frozen in shock. Oliviaโs mother sobbed, clutching her daughterโs hand.
โDo something!โ I pleaded, my throat burning. โThere has to be something you can do!โ
The healer closed her eyes, taking a deep breath. โIโll try another method. But if her spirit doesnโt cooperate, it may not work. Someone needs to speak to her โ call out to her. Sometimes, hearing a loved oneโs voice can remind the soul why it needs to stay.โ
Louis scoffed, running a hand through his hair, clearly fighting his own frustration. He stepped closer to the bed, his jaw clenched tight.
โOlivia,โ he muttered, his voice softer than before, almost reluctant. โI swear, if you die on us nowโฆ after everythingโฆ Iโm gonna kick your ass in the afterlife. Youโre not allowed to just leave like this. You think youโre the only one hurting? Youโre not. So stop being a stubborn little brat and wake the hell up. I donโt want to be a widower yet.โ
Lennox cursed under his breath, hesitating before stepping forward as well. He looked away, his voice low and strained. โYou always act like youโre some lone wolf, like you donโt need anyone. It pisses me off. But you know what? Youโve got people who care about you โ people whoโd tear the world apart to keep you safe. You canโt just give up nowโฆ not when weโre still here, fighting for you. Stop being selfish and open your damn eyes.โ
He hesitated, his throat bobbing as he swallowed hard. โLook, Oliviaโฆ you always act like you donโt care about anything, but I know youโre not that heartless. If youโre just giving up now, then youโre proving us right โ proving that youโre too weak to handle this shit. Donโt be that coward. Prove us wrong for once.โ
He rubbed his hand over his face, trying to hide the crack in his voice. Louis just shook his head, pretending to be annoyed, but I saw the guilt in his eyes. They wouldnโt admit it, but they were hurting just as much as I was.
I swallowed back the tightness in my throat and leaned in close to Olivia, brushing her hair from her face. โHear that, Olivia? Theyโre worried about youโฆ even if theyโre too damn stubborn to say it right. Youโre not allowed to give up on us. Weโre not giving up on you. So come backโฆ please.โ
A faint glow flickered over Oliviaโs wound, and the healer gasped.
โSheโs responding.โ
The healerโs hands glowed even brighter, and I finally saw the wound start to fully close. Relief washed over me as Oliviaโs breathing steadied, her chest rising and falling more evenly.
Louis let out a shaky breath, mumbling under his breath, โDamn idiotโฆ scared the hell out of us.โ
Lennox just stood there, looking torn between relief and frustration, muttering, โYou better wake up soon. Donโt make us go through this crap again.โ
I squeezed Oliviaโs hand gently, whispering, โYou did good, Olivia. Just keep fighting. Weโll be right hereโฆโ
Soon, the healer sighed in relief and looked at us. โAlphas, she is out of danger but will be unconscious for a few hours,โ the healer announced, and I nodded, staring at Olivia, whose dress was stained with her blood.
The healer left, but Oliviaโs mother stayed behind, running her fingers through her daughterโs hair, whispering soft words of comfort.
โDid you know that her father, your husband, is dead?โ Lennox threw the question at Oliviaโs mom, who swallowed hard and nodded.
My frown deepened. โAnd Olivia is not aware of it?โ I said through gritted teeth.
โShe thinks we ordered the killing of her father โ something we had no idea about,โ Louis spat in anger.
Oliviaโs mother hesitated, biting her lip as she stroked Oliviaโs hair. โI couldnโt tell her,โ she whispered, her voice shaking. โSheโฆ she doesnโt know the truth.โ
I glared at her, barely holding back my growl. โWhy?โ
She glanced at Oliviaโs pale face, wiping away a tear before turning to me. โHer fatherโฆ he was killed on your fatherโs orders. Iโฆ I couldnโt bear to tell her. She wouldnโt be able to take it.โ
Louis scoffed, running a frustrated hand through his hair. โAnd now she thinks we did it. She stabbed herself because of it.โ
Oliviaโs mom lowered her gaze, shame coloring her cheeks. โI thought it would protect her. She adored her fatherโฆ if she knew the truth, it wouldโve destroyed her. I didnโt realize how much it would hurt her in the end.โ
My hands clenched into fists at my sides, struggling to control my anger.
A loud knock on the door interrupted us, and a maid timidly stepped inside, bowing her head. โAlphas, Lady Anita has woken up, and she is requesting your presence.โ
I turned around, my temper snapping. โWe donโt fucking care. Get out!โ I roared, making the maid flinch and scurry away without another word.
