โNoโฆ Olivia, youโre lying. You feel itโฆ I know you do,โ
โTell us what?โ Louis asked quietly.
โThatโs enough,โ he said sharply. โItโs time for you all to leave.โ
โSheโs our mate,โ I echoed. โWe all felt itโฆ the second we walked into that hall.โ
She turned and held my gaze. โYes, itโs me,โ she said plainly.
โNo,โ Lennox said stubbornly from behind me. โNot until we get answers. Not until Olivia-โ
โWhat?โ Louis said, his voice cracking. โYou canโt-โ
โMine!โ my wolf howled possessively inside me.
โYou wouldnโt-โ
โSheโs our mate,โ he said firmly, his voice low but filled with raw emotion. โSheโs our second chance mate.โ
Calvinโs fist connected with Lennoxโs jaw, snapping his head sideways.
โThen go ask your parents why they lied to you,โ he said coldly. โMaybe then youโll understand why I want you nowhere near my sister.โ
I took a shaky breath. โOliviaโฆ is this really youโฆโ I asked, my lips trembling slightly.
My heart dropped.
I blinked. โThe mate bond. You feel it tooโฆ donโt you?โ
I swallowed hard.
How?
THUD!
โPlease leave.โ
We were stunned. Breathless.
โA silly joke,โ she muttered, shaking her head slightly. โThatโs what this is.โ
Then Olivia spoke, her voice sounding like a plea.
โLeave.โ His voice boomed with finality. โBefore I stop being polite.โ
One word.
Louis barely had time to move away before Calvinโs fist caught him clean in the face, sending him crashing into the chair behind him.
A thick silence followed.
Then she scoffed.
I exchanged glances with Lennox and Louis. Both of them looked just as wreckedโtorn, ashamed, hurting.
โI can,โ Calvin snapped. โAnd I just did.โ
โOlivia,โ I said gently. โTell him. Tell Calvinโฆ you feel it too, right?โ
I looked at Olivia again, searching for something in her expression. Something in her eyes to tell us she felt it tooโฆ she felt the bond, but her eyes gave nothing.
โOh, I would,โ Calvin cut in coldly. โYou may be powerful Alphas, but this is my pack. My territory. And right now, youโre standing on my land.โ
None of us spoke.
My wolf whimpered.
โNo, itโs not,โ Louis said quickly. โWeโre telling the truth. Donโt you feel anything?โ
He spun and slammed his fist into my gut, knocking the breath out of me.
Calvinโs face didnโt soften. Not even a little.
Leviโs POV
That was it.
โOlivia is a Beckham,โ he snapped. โShe comes from a sacred bloodlineโour bloodline! And you foolsโฆ you dared to treat her like trash. You subjected her to pain, humiliation, rejection. Do you have any idea who she is?!โ
One moment, we were standing there in silence โ tension thick in the air โ and the nextโฆ
I doubled over, coughing.
โWe just found out a few days ago,โ Lennox added hoarsely. โEverything we were told growing up was a lie.โ
Calvin stood above us, breathing hard, his eyes burning with rage.
We turned to Olivia.
My stomach twisted. โWhat the hell is going on?โ
Lennox suddenly stepped forward, his frown deepening, his jaw clenched tight.
Calvin looked at us like we were insane. โAnd you expect me to believe that?โ
โWhat are you talking about?โ she asked coldly.
โYour family and mine are bound by blood to hate each otherโฆ weโre like snakes and humans, doomed to destroy on sight. When a snake crosses paths with a human, it coils to strike, and when a human sees a snake, they crush it without mercy. Believe me, they had no idea you three were coming here. If they did, theyโd have spilled blood before ever letting you set foot in this place.โ
He looked at us like we were pathetic. โYour parents never told you, did they?โ
โBlood enemies? We didnโt even know Great-Grandmother Hailee had other children until a few days ago,โ Lennox muttered.
โAnd two: to tell you to stay the hell away from her for the rest of your lives.โ
โYou donโt feel anything?โ Lennox asked quietly.
She was still seated. Not even moved by what had just happened.
โWe didnโt know,โ I said quietly, โWe had no idea our great-grandmother had children with anyone else.โ
โWe are not lyingโฆ Olivia is our second chance mate.โ
โI called you here for two reasons,โ he said, his tone sharper now. โOne: so you could see her. See who she is. What sheโs become.โ
She folded her arms, her face hardening with a bitter frown. โWhy should I? I rejected you. And there is no way you three can be my second chance matesโฆ.โ
We frowned at his words.
Was it only us feeling the bond?
He took a slow, threatening step forward.
But it hurt more than everything else combined.
Calvinโs eyes narrowed, disbelief flashing across his face. โThatโs impossible. She rejected you. The bond was broken. And besidesโฆโ he added with a bitter scoff, โyouโre related.โ
โThatโฆโ he growled, โwas for hurting my sister.โ
โCalvin-โ
Everything went still.
She had been quiet through all of this, her face unreadable.
She frowned. โFeel what?โ
Calvin let out a dry, bitter laugh. โSo you really donโt know.โ
I stiffened.
CRACK!
Louis stepped closer too, desperation in his voice. โItโs real. We know itโs crazy, but the bondโitโs back.โ
Confusion swirled inside me. I looked at my brothers. They looked just as lost.
Calvinโs head snapped in his direction. โWhat did you just say?โ
I took a grip of myself and stared at Olivia, whose eyes had been avoiding us.
But before I could get closer, Calvin stepped between us like a wall.
I blinked, stunned. โBlood feud? What feud?โ
A sad smile spread across my face, but before I could speak, Calvin spoke.
Pain throbbed through my body. My wolf snarled inside me, begging to be let outโbut I held him back. This wasnโt the time.
I took a slow step forward, desperate. โOlivia-โ
He paused, his eyes narrowing.
Lennox frowned. โWe share the same great-grandmother. How can we be enemies?
His voice dropped lower, angrier. โDonโt make me remember the blood feud between our families.โ
Calvin scoffed bitterly. โAnd Iโm supposed to care?โ
It happened so fast.
How could we stay away when weโd just realized she was our second chance mate?
He turned slightly โ toward Olivia.
Why?
Before I could even react-
She stared at us for a long moment.
โI said leave,โ Calvin growled, his eyes glowing faintly with Alpha command. โDonโt make me call the warriors.โ
What could we even say?
โYou three better start talking. Because right now, the only thing stopping me from finishing what I just startedโฆ is her.โ
Her eyebrows slowly drew together in a frown.
โI donโt,โ she snapped, her eyes flashing with anger. โWhat the hell are you three even saying? How can we be mates again? Do you even hear yourselves?โ
He glared at us, anger vibrating from his entire body.
My head spun.
BAM!
None of us moved.
