Listen to this chapter:

โ€œNoโ€ฆ Olivia, youโ€™re lying. You feel itโ€ฆ I know you do,โ€

โ€œTell us what?โ€ Louis asked quietly.

โ€œThatโ€™s enough,โ€ he said sharply. โ€œItโ€™s time for you all to leave.โ€

โ€œSheโ€™s our mate,โ€ I echoed. โ€œWe all felt itโ€ฆ the second we walked into that hall.โ€

She turned and held my gaze. โ€œYes, itโ€™s me,โ€œ she said plainly.

โ€œNo,โ€ Lennox said stubbornly from behind me. โ€œNot until we get answers. Not until Olivia-โ€

โ€œWhat?โ€ Louis said, his voice cracking. โ€œYou canโ€™t-โ€

โ€œMine!โ€ my wolf howled possessively inside me.

โ€œYou wouldnโ€™t-โ€

โ€œSheโ€™s our mate,โ€ he said firmly, his voice low but filled with raw emotion. โ€œSheโ€™s our second chance mate.โ€

Calvinโ€™s fist connected with Lennoxโ€™s jaw, snapping his head sideways.

โ€œThen go ask your parents why they lied to you,โ€ he said coldly. โ€œMaybe then youโ€™ll understand why I want you nowhere near my sister.โ€

I took a shaky breath. โ€œOliviaโ€ฆ is this really youโ€ฆโ€ I asked, my lips trembling slightly.

My heart dropped.

I blinked. โ€œThe mate bond. You feel it tooโ€ฆ donโ€™t you?โ€

I swallowed hard.

How?

THUD!

โ€œPlease leave.โ€

We were stunned. Breathless.

โ€œA silly joke,โ€ she muttered, shaking her head slightly. โ€œThatโ€™s what this is.โ€

Then Olivia spoke, her voice sounding like a plea.

โ€œLeave.โ€ His voice boomed with finality. โ€œBefore I stop being polite.โ€

One word.

Louis barely had time to move away before Calvinโ€™s fist caught him clean in the face, sending him crashing into the chair behind him.

A thick silence followed.

Then she scoffed.

I exchanged glances with Lennox and Louis. Both of them looked just as wreckedโ€”torn, ashamed, hurting.

โ€œI can,โ€ Calvin snapped. โ€œAnd I just did.โ€

โ€œOlivia,โ€ I said gently. โ€œTell him. Tell Calvinโ€ฆ you feel it too, right?โ€

I looked at Olivia again, searching for something in her expression. Something in her eyes to tell us she felt it tooโ€ฆ she felt the bond, but her eyes gave nothing.

โ€œOh, I would,โ€ Calvin cut in coldly. โ€œYou may be powerful Alphas, but this is my pack. My territory. And right now, youโ€™re standing on my land.โ€

None of us spoke.

My wolf whimpered.

โ€œNo, itโ€™s not,โ€ Louis said quickly. โ€œWeโ€™re telling the truth. Donโ€™t you feel anything?โ€

He spun and slammed his fist into my gut, knocking the breath out of me.

Calvinโ€™s face didnโ€™t soften. Not even a little.

Leviโ€™s POV

That was it.

โ€œOlivia is a Beckham,โ€ he snapped. โ€œShe comes from a sacred bloodlineโ€”our bloodline! And you foolsโ€ฆ you dared to treat her like trash. You subjected her to pain, humiliation, rejection. Do you have any idea who she is?!โ€

One moment, we were standing there in silence โ€“ tension thick in the air โ€“ and the nextโ€ฆ

I doubled over, coughing.

โ€œWe just found out a few days ago,โ€ Lennox added hoarsely. โ€œEverything we were told growing up was a lie.โ€

Calvin stood above us, breathing hard, his eyes burning with rage.

We turned to Olivia.

My stomach twisted. โ€œWhat the hell is going on?โ€

Lennox suddenly stepped forward, his frown deepening, his jaw clenched tight.

Calvin looked at us like we were insane. โ€œAnd you expect me to believe that?โ€

โ€œWhat are you talking about?โ€ she asked coldly.

โ€œYour family and mine are bound by blood to hate each otherโ€ฆ weโ€™re like snakes and humans, doomed to destroy on sight. When a snake crosses paths with a human, it coils to strike, and when a human sees a snake, they crush it without mercy. Believe me, they had no idea you three were coming here. If they did, theyโ€™d have spilled blood before ever letting you set foot in this place.โ€

He looked at us like we were pathetic. โ€œYour parents never told you, did they?โ€

โ€œBlood enemies? We didnโ€™t even know Great-Grandmother Hailee had other children until a few days ago,โ€ Lennox muttered.

โ€œAnd two: to tell you to stay the hell away from her for the rest of your lives.โ€

โ€œYou donโ€™t feel anything?โ€ Lennox asked quietly.

She was still seated. Not even moved by what had just happened.

โ€œWe didnโ€™t know,โ€ I said quietly, โ€œWe had no idea our great-grandmother had children with anyone else.โ€

โ€œWe are not lyingโ€ฆ Olivia is our second chance mate.โ€

โ€œI called you here for two reasons,โ€ he said, his tone sharper now. โ€œOne: so you could see her. See who she is. What sheโ€™s become.โ€

She folded her arms, her face hardening with a bitter frown. โ€œWhy should I? I rejected you. And there is no way you three can be my second chance matesโ€ฆ.โ€

We frowned at his words.

Was it only us feeling the bond?

He took a slow, threatening step forward.

But it hurt more than everything else combined.

Calvinโ€™s eyes narrowed, disbelief flashing across his face. โ€œThatโ€™s impossible. She rejected you. The bond was broken. And besidesโ€ฆโ€ he added with a bitter scoff, โ€œyouโ€™re related.โ€

โ€œThatโ€ฆโ€ he growled, โ€œwas for hurting my sister.โ€

โ€œCalvin-โ€

Everything went still.

She had been quiet through all of this, her face unreadable.

She frowned. โ€œFeel what?โ€

Calvin let out a dry, bitter laugh. โ€œSo you really donโ€™t know.โ€

I stiffened.

CRACK!

Louis stepped closer too, desperation in his voice. โ€œItโ€™s real. We know itโ€™s crazy, but the bondโ€“itโ€™s back.โ€

Confusion swirled inside me. I looked at my brothers. They looked just as lost.

Calvinโ€™s head snapped in his direction. โ€œWhat did you just say?โ€

I took a grip of myself and stared at Olivia, whose eyes had been avoiding us.

But before I could get closer, Calvin stepped between us like a wall.

I blinked, stunned. โ€œBlood feud? What feud?โ€

A sad smile spread across my face, but before I could speak, Calvin spoke.

Pain throbbed through my body. My wolf snarled inside me, begging to be let outโ€“but I held him back. This wasnโ€™t the time.

I took a slow step forward, desperate. โ€œOlivia-โ€

He paused, his eyes narrowing.

Lennox frowned. โ€œWe share the same great-grandmother. How can we be enemies?

His voice dropped lower, angrier. โ€œDonโ€™t make me remember the blood feud between our families.โ€

Calvin scoffed bitterly. โ€œAnd Iโ€™m supposed to care?โ€

It happened so fast.

How could we stay away when weโ€™d just realized she was our second chance mate?

He turned slightly โ€“ toward Olivia.

Why?

Before I could even react-

She stared at us for a long moment.

โ€œI said leave,โ€ Calvin growled, his eyes glowing faintly with Alpha command. โ€œDonโ€™t make me call the warriors.โ€

What could we even say?

โ€œYou three better start talking. Because right now, the only thing stopping me from finishing what I just startedโ€ฆ is her.โ€

Her eyebrows slowly drew together in a frown.

โ€œI donโ€™t,โ€ she snapped, her eyes flashing with anger. โ€œWhat the hell are you three even saying? How can we be mates again? Do you even hear yourselves?โ€

He glared at us, anger vibrating from his entire body.

My head spun.

BAM!

None of us moved.
