260 Half Sister

โ€œSheโ€™s a half-siblingโ€ฆ but not just that,โ€ he began, his voice low, like just talking about it got him pissed.

His words settled over me like a blanket, and I nodded slowly.

He let out a harsh scoff. โ€œLike I saidโ€“sheโ€™s an enemy. And yes, I kidnapped her because I wanted leverage over Damien. I hate that manโ€“I wanted to strip him of everything, even time. But I didnโ€™t hurt her. I only tied her up, took videos and photos, then untied her and kept her in a locked room. Two days later, I noticed she looked sickโ€ฆ really sick. Even though I hated her, I called for a healer, but Sofia said she didnโ€™t need oneโ€“I should just let her go. So I did. I told my men to bring me Rebeccaโ€“his new wife. But it wasnโ€™t Rebecca they foundโ€ฆ it was you. My sister.โ€

โ€œWaitโ€ฆโ€ I said, furrowing my brows. โ€œThis half-sister of oursโ€ฆ is itโ€“Sofia?โ€

My eyes widened in disbelief. โ€œSofia?โ€ I echoed. โ€œNo wonderโ€ฆ the resemblance. Thatโ€™s why she looks so much like me.โ€

โ€œI invited the triplets, and they accepted.โ€

I frowned. โ€œYou kidnapped her and used her to threaten Damien to step down?โ€ I asked, confused by the pieces falling into place.

โ€œAnd?โ€ I breathed, needing to know the rest.

I stayed silent, trying to process that.

โ€œIโ€™ll take you to see her,โ€ he said quietly. โ€œAfter tonightโ€™s party. I promise.โ€

He leaned closer, his voice low and mischievous.

He nodded. โ€œShe wore them the night she married our father. They were her favorites. I thought it was only rightโ€ฆ that you wear them tonight.โ€

A happy grin spread across my face as I accepted the box.

Calvinโ€™s voice softened as he added, โ€œYears laterโ€ฆ Mom conceived again. She had you.โ€ His gaze darkened. โ€œShe made some choices. Aligned herself with the wrong people.โ€

He nodded again, a bitter edge in his voice. โ€œYou share blood. And unfortunatelyโ€ฆ sheโ€™s an enemy too.โ€

He nodded. โ€œThe moment they saw it, everyone knew. You were the one the prophecy spoke of. You were the chosen one. And thatโ€™s why you had to disappearโ€“because so many people wanted you dead. And when I say people who wanted you dead, I donโ€™t mean strangers. I mean family. Our fatherโ€™s distant relativesโ€“descendants of great-grandmother Hailee. They knew their only chance to produce another chosen one was if you were dead, so our parents sent you away and lied that you died a few hours after your birth. I also grew up with that lie; not until my fifteenth birthday did they tell me the truth.โ€

He looked down at his hands. โ€œLike I saidโ€ฆ in great-grandmother Haileeโ€™s bloodline, itโ€™s the females who carry the special gift. A unique, divine power thatโ€™s passed down from generation to generationโ€“but only through the daughters.โ€

Calvin looked up and sighed. โ€œThat our fatherโ€™s next child would be a girl. And she would be the one to inherit the gift. The true heir. The one chosen by the Moon.โ€

I tilted my head. โ€œComplicated how?โ€

I stared at him, barely breathing.

The first thing I saw made my breath catch. It was a stunning red dress, silky and elegant. I lifted it slightly, the fabric slipping through my fingers like water. Beneath it were silver heels, delicate and sparkling like starlight.

I nodded, comforted by the sincerity in his voice. He smiled at me again, and I smiled one lingering thought crept back. But even as warmth bloomed in my refused to leave my mind.

I froze. My heart skipped. โ€œWhat? Why?โ€

โ€œYes,โ€ he finally said. โ€œWe do. But itโ€™sโ€ฆ complicated.โ€

I blinked, stunned. โ€œA twin?โ€

A suffocating silence hung in the air as I realized my lifeโ€ฆ my lineage was full of twistsโ€ฆ twists I never imagined.

โ€œI was just three,โ€ he said. โ€œMom took me along to a council meeting. According to herโ€ฆ when she came back, she found her twin sister, Selene, in bed with our father. And he wasโ€ฆ dazed. Like he wasnโ€™t even himself.โ€

Feeling a flutter of excitement, I unsealed it carefully.

Calvin sighed, rubbing his palms together before finally speaking.

I noticed Calvin hesitate. His smile faltered just a little before he inhaled deeply. Something in his expression shifted. The calmness in his eyes clouded with a trace ofโ€ฆ annoyance? Frustration? Pain?

Just then, the door creaked open slightly, and the old seer peeked inside. โ€œForgive me for interrupting,โ€ she said gently. โ€œI need to prepare Olivia for the ritual. Her locked abilities will begin to awaken soon.โ€

Calvin continued, โ€œAfter our great-grandmother, Hailee, something strange happened in the family line. All her children gave birth to only malesโ€“no daughters. That included our fatherโ€™s generation. None of them had a girl, and everyone began to worry.โ€

โ€œThe door is open,โ€ I said gently.

โ€œWhat?โ€ I whispered, completely shocked.

He hesitated again before looking me straight in the eyes. โ€œOur mother had a twin sister.โ€

He reached my bed and held out the box. โ€œHereโ€ฆ I got this for tonightโ€™s party. I hope you like it.โ€

He straightened with a dark, playful gleam in his eyes. โ€œSit back, baby sisterโ€ฆ and enjoy the show.โ€

โ€œWhat do you mean?โ€

โ€œDo we have other siblings?โ€ I said carefully.

โ€œYes, Alpha,โ€ the seer replied.

Before stepping out, Calvin turned to me with a sly smile. โ€œAnd donโ€™t forgetโ€ฆ tonight is your official welcome-back party. I want the world to know who you are.โ€

โ€œWhat kind of prophecy?โ€ I asked.

Oliviaโ€™s POV

His expression shifted slightlyโ€“gentle, but with something unreadable behind it.

Calvin sat beside me on the edge of the bed. โ€œThey were our motherโ€™s,โ€ he said softly,

โ€œExactly,โ€ he said. โ€œUntil after my birth. Then, a prophecy came.โ€

Out of curiosity, I asked, โ€œWhy is Sofia an Enemy?โ€

Inside were diamond accessoriesโ€“a necklace, earrings, and a delicate bracelet. They shimmered beautifully, catching the morning light with every tiny movement.

A chill crept down my spine, but before I could ask more, Calvinโ€™s expression softened again.

โ€œGood morning, sunshine,โ€ he greeted as he walked toward me.

I gave a small smile. โ€œYou really didnโ€™t have to go all out.โ€

He smirked. โ€œOh, I did. And one more thing-โ€œ

โ€œThese are beautiful,โ€ I whispered, still a bit in awe.

I sat there, dumbfounded. A cold shiver ran down my spine.

A soft knock landed on my door, and I knew instantly it was Calvin. His distinct lemony scent drifted in, announcing his presence before he even spoke.

Calvin stood up and nodded. โ€œAlright. Make sure sheโ€™s ready. But nothing too exhausting.โ€

I nodded. โ€œBut there werenโ€™t any daughtersโ€ฆโ€

He nodded. โ€œIdentical. Their names were Celeste and Selene. Our motherโ€“Celesteโ€“was the quiet, kind one. Selene wasโ€ฆ different. Ambitious. Envious. Always wanting what wasnโ€™t hers.โ€

Calvinโ€™s expression darkened. He gave one short nod. โ€œYes.โ€

My jaw dropped slightly, horror spreading across my face.

โ€œShe got pregnant,โ€ he continued. โ€œAnd started parading herself around as the mother of the special child. Acting like sheโ€™d won. And after monthsโ€ฆ she gave birth to a girl.โ€

โ€œIโ€™d love to meet her,โ€ I said, glancing up at him. โ€œWhere is she?โ€

I turned to him, surprised. โ€œReally?โ€

He looked me straight in the eyes. โ€œLetโ€™s just sayโ€ฆ sheโ€™s not someone I trust. And neither should you.โ€

At the bottom of the box was a smaller one. I opened it slowlyโ€ฆ and gasped softly.

โ€œShe had drugged him,โ€ Calvin said grimly. โ€œSpelled him. Used a charm to force him into sleeping with her. All because she wanted to bear the chosen one. She knew the prophecy. She knew it would be his daughter.โ€

โ€œBut she wasnโ€™t the one,โ€ Calvin said. โ€œShe didnโ€™t have the mark. The birthmark all gifted daughters are born with. She was justโ€ฆ a normal werewolf.โ€

โ€œIโ€™ll explain everything in time,โ€ he said. โ€œBut for nowโ€ฆ just focus on tonight. Youโ€™re back home. Youโ€™re safe. Iโ€™ll protect you, Olivia. No matter what.โ€

The word came out so naturally, so easily, even though it was the first time Iโ€™d ever said it to him. It felt right. Like it had always been there.

He pushed it open and stepped inside, holding a white box wrapped with a shiny red ribbon. Our eyes met, and he gave me a warm, genuine smile. The kind of smile that made me feelโ€ฆ safe. Loved. Protected.

I sat still, my mind racing. Then a thought crept into my mind, slow but certain.

I looked back down at the jewels, my heart fluttering. A strange ache bloomed in my chest.

My eyes narrowed. โ€œWhat do you mean โ€˜not just thatโ€™?โ€

So I asked it.

I turned slowly to look at him, my heart thudding. โ€œAnd I had the mark?โ€

My smile widened. โ€œGood morning, brother.โ€
