248 Never Loved Her
Silence filled the room. No one moved. No one breathed.
Even though we hadnโt seen her in more than three years, we recognized her instantly. Nothing had changed. She still looked just like Oliviaโฆ just an older version. Same eyes. Same nose. Same soft lips that used to curl into the same kind of smile that made everything else disappear.
My chest tightened the moment I stared at her. It was like seeing a ghost. A ghost of Oliviaโฆ
โCall the healers!โ he shouted at the nearest guard, his voice sharp with fear.
I looked back at Damien. He hadnโt moved from Sofiaโs side. His wife was missing, possibly in dangerโand he hadnโt even noticed. He was too lost in Sofia.
โPull up the last two hours of footage,โ I ordered. โStart from the garden.โ
โFollow them,โ I said urgently.
โI want the scent tracked immediately,โ I ordered. โSend the best wolves out. I want that car found. I want every border locked down. Nobody gets in or out without clearance.โ
I stepped back from the monitor, my fists clenched. โThey planned this. They were waiting for her to be alone.โ
His voice cracked. The fear in his eyes wasnโt fake. The pain in his expression wasnโt fake. He still loved her. He never stopped.
He didnโt explain more. He didnโt have to. I couldnโt judge him. Because what he didnโt know wasโI had kissed her too. And none of us had told the others.
We rushed straight to the CCTV room, our footsteps echoing down the hallway like thunder. None of us spoke. We were all tenseโangry, confused, afraid. All for a stranger.
The trunk shut with a loud slam. A few seconds later, the others jumped over the fence and all three ran toward the car. Then they drove off.
โJust do it!โ I snapped and hung up.
The footage jumped as the guard changed the camera angle. We saw the men dragging Rebecca through a back path. Thenโone by oneโthey climbed over the high fence with her.
By the time we reached Damienโs room, he was already kneeling beside Sofia on the bed, clutching her hand tightly.
Clark and Dustin were already inside, standing near the main monitor with worried expressions. As soon as they saw us, they stepped back and gave me room.
My heart dropped.
And then I looked at my brothers. โWe need to have a talk with Damien nowโฆโ I said, and didnโt wait for them to speak before leading the way out.
My brow furrowed, and seconds laterโhe kissed her. Deeplyโฆ passionately.
My jaw clenched. I turned slowly to Levi. He looked away and sighed.
I looked back at the screen, shaking the thought away. โRewind,โ I said. โI want to see what happened after she left.โ
Levi frowned and I spoke. โI have ordered the patrol team to look for herโฆLetโs check the CCTV room,โ I said.
I swallowed hard, feeling the storm of anger growing in my chest.
So why? Why did he marry Rebecca? Why bring her here and call her his Luna when his heart clearly still belonged to someone else?
โDamn it!โ Levi snapped, punching the wall.
Sofiaโฆ! It was really her.
Lennoxโs POV
Dustin and Clark nodded and rushed out.
Louis and Levi nodded, but Damien didnโt careโฆ he didnโt even utter a word or show any concern; rather, his attention was solely on Sofia. For a moment, I was glad she was back because she would have to clear the misunderstanding Damien had about us telling her his secrets.
โSheโs burning up,โ he whispered, brushing her hair back from her forehead. โCome on, baby. Stay with meโฆโ
Before we could ask anything, he turned and sprinted into the mansion with her in his arms. My brothers and I exchanged confused looks. No one said a word. But we all followed.
And in that moment, one thing became painfully clearโฆ he never really loved Rebecca.
โShit,โ I muttered. I made a mind link to Clark.
โWhat the hell-โ Louis muttered under his breath.
Rebecca struggled, tried to screamโbut within seconds, she went limp. Unconscious.
The next camera switched to the outside of the gate. And thereโฆ we saw it. A black car waited by the edge of the woods. One of the men popped the trunk while another carried Rebeccaโs limp body and placed her inside.
We all leaned forward. The men cornered her quickly. One grabbed her arms while the second pulled something out of his pocketโa cloth. He pressed it over her nose and mouth.
Then suddenly, everything shifted. Damien panicked and rushed forward, scooping Sofia into his arms like she weighed nothing. Her body was limp, her eyes half-closed.
Levi spoke. โWho do you think took Rebecca? We have to find her, remember?โ Levi sounded frustrated, but Damien didnโt utter a word. He just kept staring at Sofia as if, if he looked away, she would disappear.
Damien didnโt move from her side. He kept whispering to her unconscious form like she could hear every word.
โIt just happened,โ he muttered. โI didnโt plan it. I justโฆโ
โYouโre safe now. I wonโt let anything happen to you againโฆ I promise.โ
The footage played. Rebecca walked out of the garden and headed toward the training field, arms crossed, like she was lost in thought. Then, from the edge of the screen, three masked men appearedโfast, silent.
Levi didnโt say anything. He just kept staring at the screen like he wanted to burn it.
Louis cursed softly. โThey dared enter our pack house.โ
โSheโs been gone for almost an hour,โ I said. โAnd Damienโฆ he didnโt even notice.โ
โWhat happened?โ Clark asked quickly.
โGet Dustin. Both of you to the CCTV roomโnow,โ I said. โTell the search team to search for Rebecca. We need Rebecca found immediately. Double the patrols at the borders.โ
The CCTV operator nodded and began tapping quickly on the keyboard. The screen blinked and switched to a view of the garden. There was Rebecca and Levi having a conversation.
The healers rushed in behind us and began their work. One of them placed glowing hands over Sofiaโs chest, while another crushed herbs into a paste.
Rebecca. Where was Rebecca? Last we heardโฆ she was taken by Damienโs enemies. We thought heโd be the one panicking, calling the search teams, turning the whole territory upside down. But he wasnโt. He hadnโt even mentioned her since Sofia arrived.
I stared at the scene, frozen. And thenโmy mind jolted.
