Oliviaโs POV
I raised a brow, staring at Levi, wondering what condition they could possibly add now. โWeโll agree to her request and reject herโbut she has to remain in Full Moon Pack,โ Lennox muttered.
A deep frown spread across my face as I glared at them. โI am not staying here,โ I spat angrily. The triplets exchanged a worried glance before settling their gazes on me. โOlivia, this is for your safety. We canโt ignore the warnings and prophecy,โ Levi said, sounding worried.
My frown deepened. Before I could retort, one of the elders spoke. โAnd what prophecy is that?โ
Lennox stepped forward, squaring his shoulders. โOur seer warned us clearly. She must not leave this pack. There is danger waiting for her beyond our borders.โ
I scoffed. โYou mean the seer you asked to lie, just so I could remain trapped here?โ I spat. Lennoxโs jaw clenched. โThatโs not true.โ
โOh, really?โ I folded my arms tightly across my chest. โYou want me to believe anything that comes out of your mouths now? After everything?โ
Levi stepped forward, his voice gentler. โOlivia, please. Weโre not trying to trap you. You just donโt understand the riskโโ
โI understand perfectly,โ I snapped, cutting him off. โYou want to reject me but still keep me locked up like someโฆ cursed pet. For your own guilt? Or is it control?โ
Louis spoke, seemingly frustrated. โYou think we want this? Weโre trying to protect you.โ
โNo,โ I said sharply. โI can take care of myself. I have been doing that for years. I donโt need your help now.โ
The room fell into tense silence until one of the elders cleared his throat. โThis isnโt going anywhere until the seer is brought before the council. If she truly had a vision, we need to see her for ourselves.โ
Lennox hesitated, then gave a stiff nod. He motioned to the guard near the door, who came forward as Lennox quietly gave him the order to fetch the seer.
Minutes dragged by, heavy and suffocating, as everyone waited in strained silence. My heart poundedโnot from fear, but from anger and frustration. They thought they could control me with fake concern. Not this time.
The door creaked open, and soft footsteps echoed in the hall before the seer stepped in. โSeer,โ Elder Grant called gently. โYouโve given a warning regarding Lady Olivia. Speak now, before the council, and let all present hear the truth.โ
The room fell silent again as all turned to her. Her gaze swept the room before settling on me. A strange chill ran down my spine as her cloudy eyes locked onto mine. For a moment, something flickered in themโpity? Fear? I couldnโt tell.
โThe vision came clear and strong,โ she rasped. โIf she leaves the Full Moon Pack, death will follow her.โ
A murmur rippled through the room. โLies,โ I snapped before anyone else could speak. โYouโre saying exactly what they want you to say. Just like they told you to.โ
She shook her head slowly. โI speak only what the spirits show me, childโYour leaving will bring ruin upon you.โ
Lennox took a step forward, his expression tight. โWe didnโt pay her, Olivia. We didnโt ask her to lie. We want you safe.โ
โThen reject me and let me go!โ I fired back. โYou canโt have it both ways. Reject me and release me, or keep me and face the truth that youโre too selfish to let me be free.โ
Leviโs jaw clenched. Louis turned away, running a hand through his hair, frustration pouring off him in waves.
โSeer,โ Elder Corbin pressed, voice firm. โTell usโis there any way to break this fate? Any path where the girl may leave without this doom?โ
The old woman hesitated, her thin fingers twisting the beads at her wrist. Then she shook her head. โThere is none.โ She tilted her head toward me. โAs long as she leaves, death will fall on her.โ
The elders muttered among themselves. I stared at the seer, a bitter taste rising in my mouth. โConvenient,โ I said coldly. โEverything tied to them. Always them.โ
Lennox met my eyes. Worry and concern were obvious, but I didnโt let it affect me.
โIโm not staying,โ I said, breaking the silence. โNo prophecy, no vision, no lie you tell will keep me caged here.โ
โOliviaโโ Levi started, stepping forward, but Elder Corbin raised a hand, stopping him.
The room stayed quiet for a moment, filled only with tense breaths and fast-beating hearts. Elder Grant turned toward me. โLady Olivia, do you truly wish to leave? Even after hearing the seerโs words?โ
โYes,โ I said firmly, not hesitating. โIf I stay here, I will kill myself.โ
A sharp gasp echoed across the room. The triplets stiffened like theyโd been slapped. Pain flashed across their faces. โYou donโt mean that,โ Levi whispered.
โI do,โ I said, my voice trembling. โIf I stay here, Iโll die piece by piece. I wonโt survive this.โ
The elders began deliberating softly among themselves. I looked across the room and locked eyes with Alpha Damien. He didnโt speak, but he gave me a slow, approving nod. This was strange; these men were his nephews. Why would he take pleasure in their suffering?
Then I turned to face the triplets: Lennox, Levi, Louis. Their eyes were wide, panic slowly rising.
Elder Grant cleared his throat. โWe have heard her decision. The council has discussedโฆ and we will respect it.โ
โNo,โ Lennox barked, stepping forward. โYou canโtโโ
โShe has made her choice,โ Elder Mariam cut in calmly. โShe is not a child. She can take care of herself.โ
โSheโs our mate!โ Louis shouted. โOur bonded mate!โ
โAnd she has rejected your bond in her heart,โ Elder Grant said sternly. โYou cannot force her to stay here.โ
The triplets looked devastated, but the elders remained firm. Elder Corbin turned to me again. โLady Olivia, if something happens to youโฆ will you place the blame on this council, or any among us?โ
โNo,โ I said quietly. โWhatever happens next is on me. I wonโt blame anyone.โ
Levi ran a hand through his hair, eyes glassy. Louis looked away, jaw clenched. Lennox just stared, stilled, like heโd been frozen. I could tell they would do anything to stop thisโฆ but this was the councilโs decision, and there was nothing they could do about it.
I met the seerโs gaze. She held itโthen slowly shook her head. A knot of unease twisted in my chest, but I forced it down.
โOliviaโฆ donโt you think you should reconsider?โ my wolf whispered, sounding anxious.
I shook my head. This was the tripletsโ plan to scare meโbut I wouldnโt fall for it. Elder Mariam spoke. โThen it is settled. Lady Olivia is free to leave if she wants to.โ โNo,โ Lennox growled, stepping forward. His voice was firm, but I heard the pain shaking in it. โYou canโt do this. We wonโt let her go.โ
My chest tightened. Elder Grantโs eyes narrowed. His voice stayed calm, but it was cold and sharp. โYou may be Alphas of your pack, but donโt forgetโwe are Elders of all werewolf clans. Disrespecting us means disrespecting all werewolf law.โ
Elder Mariam leaned forward, her tone full of hate. โUnless youโre declaring war on the council, I suggest you remember your place, Alpha Lennox.โ
Lennox froze. I saw his fists clench. He wanted to fight. I knew he did. Levi looked like he was grinding his teeth. Louisโs eyes burned with angerโฆ fear. For a second, I thought they might actually explode. But they stayed silent. Their anger and helplessness filled the air.
Then Lennox looked at me. I saw the pain in Lennoxโs eyes. I felt it. And I hated that I still loved him. Loved all of them. But I held my ground. I stood tall, even as my heart ached. Even as my body screamed at me to run to them. But I didnโt. I couldnโt. Because deep down, I knew this was the right thing to do.
Elder Corbinโs voice cut through the silence. โLady Olivia,โ he said authoritatively, โwe will now begin the rejection. Since all parties are present, it will be done immediatelyโbefore the council.โ
The air turned heavy. This was it. I was about to reject them. And I was about to lose them. Forever.
