Chapter 13: Unwanted Mistress

Oliviaโ€™s POV

โ€œCan we bypass that?โ€ Louis said immediately, sounding irritated.

โ€œYes, I see no need for that,โ€ Levi added.

โ€œItโ€™s not mandatory, so why do it?โ€ Lennox groaned.

Standing beside them, I wished the earth would swallow me whole. The disgrace was unbearable. In front of hundreds of people, my matesโ€”the tripletsโ€”were refusing to kiss me. They were making it painfully clear they never wanted this marriage.

Their father intervened. โ€œAlphas, it is mandatory. Get on with it,โ€ he declared, his tone brooking no argument.

I felt their simmering anger, suffocating me. I longed to refuse, to plead against the kiss, but I had no right.

โ€œAlphas, you may kiss your bride,โ€ the elder announced again.

Whispers rippled through the hall. I felt their eyes on meโ€”judging, pitying, or mocking. Humiliation burned my cheeks, and I clenched my fists, forcing myself to remain still. This was supposed to be a passionate, lovely moment, but it felt like a punishment.

Lennox, to my left, sighed in frustration before stepping forward. His jaw was tight, his body rigid, as if the thought of touching me disgusted him. Louis and Levi exchanged glances before reluctantly following suit. My heart ached at their rejection. This wasn't how I'd imagined my first kiss.

Lennox leaned in, his lips brushing mine so briefly it was barely a kiss. There was no warmth, no tendernessโ€”only cold obligation. This was the same man who, as a child, would kiss my cheeks, promising a proper kiss when I came of age.

Louis followed, his lips meeting mine for a mere second before he pulled away, his expression blank. Then Levi hesitated, his eyes filled with something akin to hate. For a moment, I thought he might refuse. But then, with an exasperated sigh, he leaned in, his lips ghosting over mine before quickly retreating.

Silence fell over the hall, broken only by the renewed whispers, the speculation, the hushed questions about the Alphasโ€™ behavior. My hands trembled as I lowered them, my lips tingling. I wanted to scream, to run, to demand an explanation for their disdain. But I did nothing. Instead, I lifted my chin, forcing myself to appear unaffected.

The ceremony continued, but I felt detached, a spectator in my own life, bound to men who clearly didn't want me.

The celebration beganโ€”drinking, dancingโ€”but beside the triplets, I felt miserable. My wolf remained silent, offering no comfort.

Guests offered congratulations, but their expressions changed. They bowed deeply to the triplets, full of respect and admiration. But when they turned to me, most frowned, their acknowledgment clearly forced.

More guests came and went, their false smiles barely masking their true feelings. Then Anita approached.

She held a wine glass, a sly smirk on her lips. โ€œCongratulations on your coronation, Alphas,โ€ she purred, her voice slightly slurred.

Lennox responded first. โ€œI love your dress, baby. It looks so good on you.โ€ His voice held a warmth absent during our kiss.

I stared at him in disbelief. Did he just say that?

Anita smirked. โ€œOf course, it suits me. You got it for me, remember?โ€ she said smugly.

Disgust washed over me. I couldnโ€™t bear to watch any longer.

Frustrated, I pushed back my chair and stood, ignoring the tremor in my knees. โ€œIf youโ€™ll excuse me,โ€ I said, my voice controlled despite the burning anger and pain, โ€œI should greet the rest of our guests.โ€

I turned before they could reply, walking away with my head held high. I found my mother among the servants and, without a word, embraced her. Her hug was the only warmth Iโ€™d felt all evening.

โ€œDonโ€™t cry. Please donโ€™t. Donโ€™t let them see you broken,โ€ she whispered, sensing my imminent collapse.

Swallowing my pain, I pulled away. Her eyes held sympathy, an understanding absent in everyone else.

She started to speak, but two maids, Cynthia and Nala, approached.

โ€œOlivia, itโ€™s time to get you prepared for your wedding night,โ€ Nala said.

Before I could respond, my mother sharply interrupted. โ€œYou do not call her by her name. Add her title.โ€

The maids frowned, struggling to accept me as their Luna. Just hours ago, I was a maid, an omega, lower in rank than them.

Nala scoffed. โ€œLuna, my foot. A Luna who is neither loved nor wanted by her Alphas is nothing more than an unwanted mistress.โ€ She sneered. โ€œYou are no Luna, Olivia. That crown doesnโ€™t suit you. Now, if you may, please follow us. We are to prepare you to fulfill your duties to the Alphas. That is your only purpose, after allโ€”to be their fuck toy and nothing else.โ€

Rage consumed me. I stepped forward, ready to strike, but my motherโ€™s firm grip restrained me.

โ€œControl your temper, Olivia,โ€ she whispered. โ€œYouโ€™ll deal with them, but not here. People are watching.โ€

I saw a few eyes on us. Controlling my anger, I took a deep breath.

My mother smiled at my obedience. โ€œCome now. Letโ€™s get you ready,โ€ she said, leading me away.

As we left, I glanced back at the triplets, still conversing with Anita. It hurt. But I pushed down the emotion, lifted my chin, and kept walking.
