Chapter 3

Did Cameron cheat on Madison with Dakota? The thought was impossible. Madison quickly dismissed it. In their five years of marriage, she’d never introduced Cameron to Dakota. Besides, given Dakota's beauty and family background, why would Dakota ever be interested in someone like Cameron? Dakota’s family, while not wealthy by Yrando standards, were still old money. Cameron must have stolen the hair bow or found it somewhere. If he could forge so many love letters from so many women, what else was he capable of?

Still, for safety's sake, Madison called Dakota, but got no answer. "She didn't pick up?" she wondered, furrowing her brow. Dakota was probably busy with work. She'd try later.

Madison had a business meeting and dinner planned with Archie at Darth Holdings. She needed to get ready. She put her phone down, returned the hair bow to its box, and went to her makeup dresser.

Cameron arrived at Darth Holdings in his Maybach around 2:30 p.m. A strange, familiar feeling washed over him as he looked at the skyscraper. Five years had brought significant changes, including to his own company. He’d arrived thirty minutes early to assess the building.

He entered through the front entrance. The lobby was larger than before but otherwise similar. "Blackheart really put his all into this," Cameron murmured, shaking his head fondly.

He was about to explore when the elevator doors opened with a "ding." A man and a woman emerged, chatting animatedly. The man wore a navy blue suit and gold-rimmed glasses; he appeared to be in his late twenties. The woman wore a blue ruffled dress, makeup, and her hair was styled up. It was Madison.

"You're amazing, Mr. Price. I can't believe you handled someone as tough as Mr. Kane. You must be making at least a hundred million in profit if this deal goes through," Madison said cheerfully.

"Heh. Mr. Kane and I are old friends. A word from me was all it took."

"Are you free in the next couple of days, Mr. Price?"

"What is it?"

"My mother wants to meet you. She's invited you to dinner."

"Haha, sure! She's too kind," Archie replied smoothly.

"Alright. I'll tell my mother," Madison said, smiling warmly and demurely—a stark contrast to her behavior around Cameron.

Cameron witnessed this exchange, his expression unreadable.

Then, Madison and Archie encountered Cameron at the entrance. Madison's face twisted with disgust. "What are you doing here, Cameron?"

"If you can be here, why can't I?" Cameron replied calmly.

"Hmph!" Madison sneered. "I'm here with Mr. Price for a business meeting. And you? Job hunting as a security guard? Or are you hoping we'll get back together? Let me be clear—that's never happening!"

"Get back together?" Cameron scoffed. "You think too much. I'm here for my company."

"Your company?" Madison reacted as if he'd told a joke. She looked at him with disgust. "Need I remind you where we are? This is Darth Holdings, Yrando's number one company, worth thirty billion!"

"So?" Cameron remained calm.

"So aren't you ashamed of lying?" Madison's anger grew at his composure.

Cameron frowned. Why hadn't he realized how shallow Madison was?

"It's alright, Madison. No need to get angry over someone like this," Archie interjected. "If he values his pride so much, let him. You're among Yrando's top ten businessmen. He's beneath you."

Archie gave Cameron a disdainful look. He clearly had no respect for him.

"You should learn some manners from Mr. Price, Cameron!" Madison snapped.

Cameron sidestepped them and entered the office.

"Stand right there!" Madison yelled.

"What else do you want?" Cameron asked, his brow furrowed.

"We haven't settled the divorce compensation yet," Madison snapped.

"I don't need compensation, just the divorce. You won't be bothered by me again," Cameron said, turning to leave.

"Compensate you? Seriously?" Madison scowled.

"Then what do you mean?" Cameron asked coldly, turning back.

"I need compensation from you for the mental distress you caused during our marriage!"

"Me? Cause you mental distress?" Cameron was astonished. He then sneered. "I need to compensate you for mental distress when you're the one who cheated? Married couples treat each other decently. Did you have to be so cruel?"

"Married couple? You dare mention that?" Madison said sarcastically. "I'm disgusted by you. I never imagined you'd be such a pervert!"

"How am I a pervert?" Cameron asked.

"Explain those love letters, then," Madison retorted.

Cameron's eyes widened slightly. She'd found the letters. And the hair bow. Did she really not remember? He didn't want to explain, but said, "Those letters are genuine."

"Bullcrap!" Madison barked. "Who do you think you are, having royals and politicians write you love letters? Look at yourself!"

"Did that really happen, Madison?" Archie looked incredulous.

"Yes, Mr. Price. This man wrote fake love letters and stole a woman's hair bow! He disgusts me!"

"Hahaha!" Archie laughed, patting Cameron's shoulder. "You're something, man. Respect!"

Cameron's face darkened. "We were married. Did you have to slander me like that?"

"Slander? Who do you think you are? You wouldn't be worried if you didn't do it!"

"I told you about the letters. But isn't that hair bow yours?" Cameron asked.

"No way! I kept mine in my drawer! Tell me where you got it. Did you steal it from my best friend?"

"Your best friend?" Something clicked in Cameron's mind. Had he been wrong all along?
