Chapter 285
"Stay at your place?" Cameron was startled, clearly not expecting Lena's suggestion.
She looked unhappy. "You don't want to, do you?"
"I'd be happy to, but" He smiled and shook his head. "I appreciate your kindness. Just protect Dr. Smith. I'll be fine."
He knew Lena wanted to protect him, but living in her house was impractical. Firstly, it was inconvenient. Secondly, he was ending things with the Zimmers in two days. Staying at her house would jeopardize his plan.
"Why do you always pretend to be strong?" Lena asked, a little angry.
Cameron's eyes flashed coldly. "I'm not pretending. I have a serious grudge against the Zimmers that I need to resolve."
She was startled. "What grudge?"
"I'll tell you later. Since I have nothing else to do here, I'll go home. Bye." He turned and left.
"Cameron" Tara started, wanting to thank him, but he was already walking away. Watching him go, a hint of tenderness unconsciously touched her features.
"He only wants to solve problems by himself!" Lena stamped her foot angrily.
"Leny, don't be angry. Maybe Cameron has a solution," Tara advised softly.
"Tara, do you believe him? He only brags! I bet he doesn't know the terror of the Zimmers!" Lena gritted her teeth anxiously. Cameron always seemed to create trouble—Alan last time, Kelvin this time.
"The Zimmers are powerful, but I believe in Cameron." Tara had an inexplicable trust in him. It seemed nothing was beyond his capabilities.
"No way! You really believe him?" Lena looked at her best friend, widening her eyes in surprise.
"Well, how should I describe it Hmm" Tara pursed her lips, pondering for a moment. "I don't think he's aimless."
"No way, Tara."
Chapter 285 (2/2)
Seeing Tara soften, Lena suddenly realized something. She gasped in disbelief.
Tara was surprised. "What's wrong, Leny?"
"Tara, you" Lena hesitated.
"What's wrong?" Tara was even more puzzled.
"Tara, do you have a crush on him?" Lena finally asked.
"I don't! Leny, don't talk nonsense" Tara denied it hastily, her face instantly flushing.
"Then why did your face turn so red?" Lena was surprised. Could she be right?
"You asked me that so suddenly. I got a little nervous," Tara said, holding back her shyness. "Besides, you know about my condition."
"Yes, I do."
That single sentence was a reminder. Lena forgot Tara suffered from an aversion to men, a problem that had worsened since her first year of college.
An unpleasant thought crept into Lena's mind. It was all some bastard's fault for deceiving Tara and causing this! If Lena ever met him, she'd beat him to death!
At that moment, she hoped a man would appear to resolve Tara's problem and help her believe in love again—even if that man was the pesky Cameron.
