Chapter 93

Chase was visibly agitated. The woman on the bed, whose figure and complexion resembled mine, lay motionless. The thought of his wife in such a situation was clearly agonizing.

The manager, calmly smoking a cigarette, asked, "Are you here to bail her out?"

Suddenly, Chase, usually composed, erupted. He ferociously kicked the manager, sending him crashing into the wall. Before the manager could react, Chase grabbed him by his floral shirt collar and punched him.

His eyes blazing, Chase roared, "Who said you could touch her?"

A gunshot shattered the silence. The woman on the bed shrieked. My father and his men burst in, revealing the woman, though similar in appearance to me, was not me.

Unaware she was still undressed, Chase tilted her chin up for a closer look. Relief washed over his face. "Thank goodness it's not her."

The bleeding manager, attempting retaliation, was restrained by one of my father's associates. He spat curses, hands on hips. "Damn, she's not even your wife! Why'd you hit me?"

Desperate, Chase asked, "Where's everyone else?"

The manager shrugged. "That's all we've got. Who else are you looking for?"

No longer concealing my identity, Chase showed the manager my picture on his phone. "Have you seen this woman?"

The manager squinted. "Nope."

My father offered him a cigarette. "Come on, buddy. She's family. Help us out, and we'll make it worth your while." The manager's eyes lit up at the sight of my father's Rolex Submariner. My father, without hesitation, removed the watch and offered it.

"Please, give us a hand."

The manager's demeanor softened immediately, a wide grin replacing his earlier anger. He eagerly accepted the watch. "You're sharp, sir. Hang tight. If she's not in this park, it doesn't mean she's not in another. Send me the picture."

Chase's previous reluctance to share my photo, fearing leaks, had caused this entire incident. Now, with no other leads, they had to reveal my picture.

The manager studied the photo. "No wonder you hit me. She's a looker. Finding someone that striking shouldn't be hard, butโ€ฆ" He trailed off, implying something more. "We've got several parks. With your resources, why wait until now? Once a woman ends up hereโ€ฆ"

Regret clouded Chase's face. I had been missing since that morning, and no one had seriously searched until now. It felt too late. Even a thorough search might not yield any trace of me.

"Alright, since you gave me the watch, I'll let the punch slide. Stay put; we'll have news soon."

Their network extended beyond this park, encompassing several and even the local community. Finding someone here was significantly easier than elsewhere.

Chase paced, the occasional scream echoing. Through the window, the first light of dawn broke, revealing people being dragged away, leaving a bloody trail.
